A European gamer solved a series of riddles getting access to Erernium as the first person outside the company, letting them enjoy the game long before the shenanigans of Ritualist Joe. Laverna wants to become the best investigator in Ardania, but instead of getting her detective''''s licence and starting her own office, she is persuaded to enlist into the City Guard. Before her first chase on the rooftops and dramatic reveal of plotting villains, she has to endure drills and learn police work. In place of banquet halls filled with treacherous nobles, she traverses the city''''s street. Instead of learning about secret cabals of assassins, she tries and fails to learn following orders - even those given by the player behind the screen.The arrival of more players eventually changes the landscape of the universe she lives in - in place of gangs of NPCs, now the gamers start illegitimate operations to fund their guilds. The quests are no longer about crimes of passion of citizens, some of the newcomers turned serial killers just to exercise the demon they keep submerged in the real world. With The System seemingly accepting those behaviours, it falls to the City Guard to protect citizens of Ardania from those immortal villains, and Laverna''''s investigative prowess is more needed than ever.This fanfiction is set in Dakota Krout''''s ''''Completionist Chronicles'''' universe.
