Bai Fan first practiced quiet gong, cultivating his qi before practicing it. The most basic introductory method of quiet gong is to enter stillness, which refers to a stable and calm state without distractions, concentrating ones mind on a single point, guarding the dantian with intention, weakening the sensation of external stimuli, entering a realm that is neither awake nor asleep, neither aware nor unaware.
Baifan sat cross-legged, with his hands placed flat on his legs, gradually calming himself down, closing his eyes, and casting aside the distractions in his mind, using his intention to sense his dantian.
At first, Bai Fan felt a bit uncomfortable. After all, maintaining this posture for a long time was very tiring and would cause poor blood circulation. He already felt his legs going numb, as if countless ants were crawling on them. Several times, Bai Fan couldnt help but want to get up and move around, but he endured it each time.
Gradually, Bai Fan felt as if he had entered a very strange state. His bodily sensations gradually weakened, and his whole person became dazed and confused, as if he had fallen into a half-asleep, half-awake state.
"This must be the state of tranquility! Ive succeeded!" Bai Fans heart was filled with joy, but that feeling suddenly disappeared in an instant.
Bai Fan opened his eyes, feeling refreshed and comfortable beyond words. It seemed that this qigong was indeed beneficial, and he had only just entered a meditative state, yet Bai Fan already felt extremely comfortable, with most of his previously expended energy recovered. Moreover, what delighted him the most was that he felt his spirit was particularly vigorous, full of vitality.
Getting out of bed, Baifan did not feel numbness in his legs. It seemed that this should be an illusory phenomenon manifested by the body. After entering a state of stillness, this illusion naturally weakened and disappeared.
Although it has not been confirmed, Bai Fan believes that continuing to cultivate in this way will be very beneficial for himself, even if it cannot help with his abilities.
"Gurgling gurgling." A strange noise came, and Bai Fan covered his stomach with a bitter smile: "Isnt it said that meditation can reduce hunger? How come Im so hungry. Hmm, how did it get dark outside?" Bai Fan occasionally discovered that the window was already shrouded in night, with neon lights flickering.
He glanced at the time and was shocked to find that it was already past 9 oclock in the evening. Good heavens, he felt as if only a little over ten minutes had passed, but unexpectedly several hours had slipped by. No wonder those cultivators often spent hundreds or thousands of years on their cultivation - time really flew by quickly.
"No wonder Im feeling hungry, its been such a long time." Bai Fan got up and walked towards the kitchen. In the kitchen, there was instant noodles prepared by Bai Fan. He boiled water and cooked two bags of noodles. Originally, he wanted to add an egg, but because it had gone bad after such a long time, he could only give up on that idea.
After eating the noodles, Bai Fan only felt his stomach bulging and was full. If it were an ordinary day, Bai Fan might have watched TV and then rested, but having just experienced the wonders of qigong, he naturally couldnt get enough of it. So after finishing the noodles, he went back to the house to try again.
This time, however, Bai Fan did not use the sitting posture from earlier, but instead switched to a supine position. This is called "adjusting the body" and is a prerequisite for practicing qigong, allowing the body to gradually relax before entering a state of stillness. There are many ways to adjust the body, such as sitting upright, freely crossing ones legs, lying on ones back, lying on ones side, standing, or even walking. Among these, standing and walking postures are particularly difficult, requiring at least some basic qigong skills to enter a state of stillness in these two postures.
Lying on the bed, he placed his body in the most comfortable position, and then Bai Fan closed his eyes and slowly tried to enter a state of tranquility.
This sleep is for one night!
When the morning sunlight shone on Baifans body, Baifan felt warm and cozy, and he slightly opened his eyes to find that it was already daylight.
He raised his arm to cover his forehead, blocking out the dazzling sunlight. Bai Fan let out a wry smile. "Looks like I was too impatient, thinking of entering a meditative state with just the second attempt at supine position. But in the end, I ended up sleeping soundly. Guess I still need to take it one step at a time and progress gradually."
Bai Fan originally wanted to use the supine position to enter stillness, after all lying down is more comfortable than sitting, especially since Bai Fan knew that this period of stillness would pass quickly. But as a result, due to being a beginner in cultivation and not yet mastering the technique of entering stillness, he failed magnificently.
Today, he should have returned to school for classes, but Bai Fan had no intention of going back. Anyway, the exams were already over and the school wouldnt be so strict, so Bai Fan planned to stay at home for two more days and wait until the exam results came out before returning. He would take advantage of these two days to carefully ponder this qigong, hopefully being able to enter a meditative state in a supine position, which would allow him to continue his cultivation even after returning to the dormitory.
Otherwise, wouldnt those two troublemakers think that Ive cultivated evil powers and become mentally unstable just because Im sitting cross-legged in meditation?
Bai Fan decided to cultivate both dynamic and static skills simultaneously, in other words, internal and external dual cultivation. The best time of day is at dawn, the morning air is the best, and most suitable for practicing dynamic skills.
Bai Fan wanted to practice qigong, but didnt know the method of practicing. Because qigong mainly exercises the body, strengthens the physique, exhales as yang, inhales as yin, and coordinates yin and yang, both movement and stillness are suitable. After thinking about it, Bai Fan decided to try using the military training he had just learned.
Arriving at the spacious living room, Bai Fan stood upright and took a few deep breaths to adjust his spirit and body to their best state. "Drink!" Bai Fan let out a loud shout, then started fighting.
This martial art has not been practiced for too long, and its a bit rusty. At first, I often forgot what came next while practicing, and it was intermittent. But later on, the more I practiced, the more proficient I became, and it was smooth and effortless. Bai Fan gradually adjusted his breathing, changing from shallow to deep breathing. Each breath was long, even, slow, as if expelling the bodys fatigue and impurities with each exhalation.
It wasnt until about an hour later that Bai Fan stopped due to exhaustion. Although his body was very tired, his spirit was extremely vigorous, and it seemed that the effect was indeed effective. After a brief rest, Bai Fan sat down again to meditate and cultivate his internal energy.
It may be because of the spiritual comfort at this time, entering a state of tranquility was extremely fast. In no time, Bai Fan felt as if he had already entered that half-asleep and half-awake state. The feeling was very strange, it seemed as though he had fallen asleep, but everything around him still hadnt disappeared, and could still be sensed.
Bai Fan suddenly had an idea, remembering that he had heard people say before that practicing qigong could also have the ability of inner vision, which could see ones own meridians, blood vessels, and even internal organs such as the brain. Bai Fan tried to use his inner vision to see if it was possible.
Concentrate your mind, control your thoughts and scan your body. The whole process was done with great care by Bai Fan because he wasnt familiar enough with the state of meditation yet, and any slight mistake would make him exit immediately. Gradually, he felt that there seemed to be a very weak flow of energy running irregularly in his body, this energy ran wildly in his own body, and finally it even ran into his head, entering his right brain.
Bai Fan hadnt even had time to think much when the energy surged towards the strange sphere in his right brain. Just as it made contact, the sphere seemed to move suddenly. Then, incredibly, the energy actually entered the sphere.
Before Bai Fan could react to whether there would be any danger, the sphere suddenly emitted a strange glow, and his right brain seemed to be enveloped in an instant. Immediately afterwards, Bai Fan felt a severe fatigue coming on, as if even his soul had been drawn out, and he collapsed onto the bed, losing consciousness.
