Maxwell took a moment to gaze at the newly made serpent walls and necrotic docks. He was checking that everything was working right as he waited for the materials to build once more. Sadly, he was running out of rocks and pebbles to find above ground, and the next project, the one based on the living armor, would require a lot of rocks. So he needed to find a way to get some besides the usual undead insects, such as the undead butterflies and undead hornets, gathering them for him.
He spent a while deep in thought on it as a small pile of rocks built up. It then occurred to him that he should simply get rocks from below ground instead of above it. Luckily for him, he had a massive underground network just beneath him that he could get plenty of rocks from with no trouble at all, as the entire underground network was overgrown with one of his most loyal followers.
So needing the materials, he contacted the smog root fists that were everywhere underground. As they were one of the main pillars holding everything up in the underground, their roots were a part of every room and hall. So once he gave the request, they responded immediately. Maxwell could feel their joy at being asked to help him and their eagerness to do the task he gave them.
So it was that a steady supply of rocks came up from the depths of the underground labyrinth and onto the ground above. These piles of rocks near the entrance to the underground werepicked up by undead insects and moved bit by bit to the necropolis's outer district. Maxwell waited a bit as the materials built up to the level required for the work he was about to do.
So after a little while Maxwell had the materials he needed to build the last project. The only problem was how he was going to go about that. As there were two current problems: the fact his two previous projects had left the outer district of his necropolis barren of buildings and how to fit the last construction project honoring the living insectoid armor into solving that issue.
Maxwell thought on that a moment, considering all his materials and the subject of the project, before coming to his conclusion. Maxwell, now having an idea of what he was going to build once more, began construction, gathering the materials with hands made of necrotic smog and molding the rocks into the shape required. He first created the walls and the roof of the building.
It was a simple building that was short at the front but long on the sides. He then began to take more pieces of rock and slowly add pieces of beetle that had been on a separate pile of materials he hadn't been using so far to the mix. Once the two materials were mixed together, he took them and sharpened them into spikes that he then coated the building with. Once he was done, he filled the building with necrotic smog, which brought it to undeath.
Maxwell gave the building a look over. He had made it based on the chest piece of the living armor. As such, the building was made to be an undead armory. Maxwell believed he had made it right, but he would have to wait till he was done with everything to be sure. So with that short inspection done, he moved on to the next building to be built.

So once again he built the regular parts of a building, but he added dead mantises from the very beginning of the process. He also made another change; instead of doing as he did with the armory, where he had left a wide two-door entrance, he had instead built the next building with one door and two windows. As to more of the face representing the living armor's helmet he has. Maxwell looked over the building, giving it a once-over.
It was two stories with a kind of face with its two windows and single door. It also had bits of mantis hidden throughout the structure but visible if you knew what you were looking for. Which was good, as he was trying to make something where mantis body parts would attack apart from just the living armor hidden mantis attacks. Seeing everything looked fine, he added necrotic smog, finishing the building.
So now that was two buildings down; now he needed to work on the third, and he should be good for filling out his outer district and therefore finishing it. Maxwell gathered rocks once again with his hands made from necrotic smog; he gathered more and more rocks and had to think for a moment as the last building to make was a bit of a hard one.
As it should be based on the living armor's last bit of empowered equipment, but that was a drill gauntlet on its arm. Maxwell didn't need a drill in his necropolis, as his smog root fist and Wormer with his small clan were already doing a great job underground. Maxwell thought on it for a long moment before coming up with an idea.
So once again having a direction to go in, he got to work. He mixed the rocks with the parts from centipedes this time, and then once they were fully mixed together, he got to work. He made a solid square base and then put a drill bit on top facing the sky. He then pushed necrotic smog into it and watched it spin up, causing it to effectively be a strange sort of necrotic generator.
Maxwell waited a moment, just watching as the strange generator turned, taking in necrotic smog and producing some kind of necrotic static. Upon seeing it would not explode any time soon, Maxwell felt he had completed the project, which caused a purple scroll to appear once again, showing the results of the last project for the outer necropolis district.
Maxwell took a moment going over the new structures and how they had turned out, finding himself rather happy with them for the most part. Though as with the other projects, there were a few hang-ups. Such as the new energy source and what exactly having necrotic static running through his new necropolis would do to it or his kingdom at a later date.
Though hopefully it would just be a new form of necrotic energy he learned to harness. On another plus side, his necropolis will start being populated, so he won't have empty streets to worry about filling. On that thought he began filling the large empty area of the outer district with the new buildings. So it was bit by bit and inch by inch the outer district was filled up.
Once he was done, Maxwell just watched the new outer district for a moment, enjoying watching the outer layer of his necropolis come to undeath. Though after a while he stopped being lazy and got back to work and began to try and plan out what the inner district would look like.
