It was supposed to take longer.
he doesn't know what he's capable of as of right now but even if he is an E rank riftwalker he should have at least on ability.
He puts his hand on the wall where the roots are the thinnest and tries to move the core towards his hand. A small part of the core extends outwards towards his arm and through the extension the dark essence spreads outwards. His mind instinctively thinks of the ability as if it was always a part of him.Life drain
As the essence reaches the fingertips the roots start begin to wither away. It takes about a minute to open the cell and as William steps out he notices that he can either go left or right in this dark passage.
Even after this the extension does not retract, it stays that way, maybe forever.
As soon as he reached the stairway at the end of the corridor the ground started shaking. Someone screamed above and a few sudden bursts of thunder rippled across the surface.
William run up fast and found himself in a gigantic tree with only one door.
The door was cautiously opened whilst the sounds of destruction didn't stop even for a second.
its better to stay here than go out
He thought but his curiosity didn't let him wait it out.
He opened the door just for a glimpse.
Small houses either built on or into gigantic trees could be seen but all of them were wrecked, some burning filling the air with smoke. Corpses of elves with the same green cloaks hung from branches or lay on the ground in various positions.
Their heart or what was below it, their core was missing indicated by a hole on their chest.
Williams heart was beating faster than ever he closed the door and hoped no one would come this way.
A not really deep but certainly male voice came from outside "I cant believe my father forced me to hunt lowly vermin again. Why cant they just get any other B tier riftwalker to do this. I guess i'll do it anyways" He said with despise and a bit of playful undertone.
Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.
Then it sounded like as if he threw something big on the ground
An elf woman was kneeling before him.
The source of the talking was a tall blond man without facial hair. His skin is unnaturally smooth.
He was relatively young, could be around his 20's
His azure blue eyes were glowing with excitement and he looked at the woman with a sadistic smile.
"Please mercy!" She begged With a high pitched scream like voice, hoarse from desperation.
"Let me think..." he stopped for a second seemingly lost in thought "ah I rather not" he answered playfully then adjusted his blond hair before shooting the woman with a huge lightning bolt from his finger tips pointing down at her.
With that the woman went limp. Not even the muscles could tweak because the nerves were instantly burned off from the voltage. She didn't feel much pain, he was a gentleman after all and did grant her mercy in a twisted way.
He pretended to clean off something from his elegant white garment with blue as complimentary color. In reality, nothing got on his clothes, nothing could have.
As he walked away he was giggling constantly like a child as if he pulled a little prank.
An hour later now that everything calmed down William came out.
they are all dead...
He wasn't sad, surprised maybe a little bit. The scent of death and the scene just makes him strangely calm...
He looks up only to have a drop of blood fall on his face and it snaps him out.
"A B rank ? He killed these for entertainment... This is bad, really bad."
He went slowly. The smell of burned meat was everywhere. Ignoring it he picked up a sword from one of the elves.
The handle short with no handguard, the blade is long and the lower part is thicker and slightly extends over the upper. *it must be for stabbing*
William assumed by the weird design as it didn't seem like the ones he had seen in movies before
He also checked one of the bows, it was similar to what he has seen before. "Ah I don't even know how to hold these" With that he dropped it back on the ground.
"I must find my way back alone. Unless they sent a riftwalker after me... no, if he was the riftwalker I wouldn't have a chance at coming back alive." Doubting that he would get help from anyone he left the settlement, leaving behind the corpses and the destroyed buildings.
