Chapter 50 – Awakening.
"The usually carefree oldest sister hurried her way through the devastated and dangerous Oni nds, closing in on the trail of her missing sister after many trials and tributions," I narrated. In the background, a soft melody sung by Angelica accompanied Sakura as she navigated the Oni pyground, approaching the awaiting twins.
"Beside her flew her trusty guide and friend," I introduced Alice, flying alongside her. However, it seemed my introduction was insufficient for the little fairy, as she stopped mid-air, turned to me, and waited for me to continue.
"Since the dawn of existence, there has never been a being so effortlessly woven from the very threads of love," I decred. She nodded along with my words, "a being so courageous that she would dive into the goddesses' hands just to reunite two wayward lovers' sparks." She nodded again, "a being so wise that she guided the sometimes clueless girl through even the most arduous tasks." Seemingly satisfied, she flew back to Sakura's shoulder, patting her chest to assure her of her reliability.
"They have traveled from the very depths of Mordor, across the frozen tundra of the Elps, even scaling the impassable mountains guarded by trolls, facing all the horrors in their quest until they tracked their target to the deadliest of nds yet—those ruled by the twin Onis," I continued. The twins, cpping with candy hanging from their mouths, reveled in the theatrics.
Angelica performed a trick with her barriers, bending the light to spotlight the twin Onis. Noticing the attention, they stopped eating the candy Era had bribed them with and stood up, showing their fangs, eliciting pyful gasps from the audience of Mom, Yuno, and Era.
“Our mighty heroine, after such a long journey, finally comes to her st and greatest challenge—one with two foes, which, as any gamer would tell you, is always the most annoying,” I said, adding fvor to the narration.
“Give me back my sister, you no good but very cute Oni,” Sakura demanded, facing the two still baring their teeth. Seeing her approach, Anna wielded her candy stick like a sword, followed by Emma, who mimicked her, both seemingly ready for mortal combat.
“Even if I have to face such a deadly bde, I will not be stopped here,” decred Sakura, before vanishing from my sight and reappearing as if struck by their candy, toppling over to the twins' amusement.
“Ah, truly the most deadly bde on the pin, but even that is not enough to deter me from rescuing my sister,” Sakura procimed, standing up slowly to face the two. Then, she executed her secret move, pulling the twins into a hug and falling with them to the ground, rolling around with the ughing twins until they were breathless.
“Finally, I did it,” she said, crawling past the two and slowly struggling to her feet, only to turn around at the sound of ughter. Alice was sitting on Anna’s head, looking down at the drained Sakura.
“Alice, how could you!” Sakura excimed, her face full of shock directed at the smug fairy patting Anna’s head.
"Alice, Sakura's most loyal companion, who had been with her through all her darkest times, had raised her st and greatest enemies while she was gasping for breath," I said, maintaining the momentum.
"How could you?" Sakura asked again, her hand over her heart, gasping as if on her st breath.
"Anything for love," Alice replied, gesturing the twins forward against the nearly spent girl. The twins waddled forward, tumbling onto the semi-prone girl, nibbling at her as she rolled around with them once more.
"Agh," Sakura screamed, "I have no choice, forgive me, sister. I must resort to my st and greatest measure," she said, pushing the twins off herself and levitating them into the air before swirling them around, making both cry 'wee' as they spun. With one final effort, she brought the three crashing down again, dramatically struggling to get up once more.
Sakura, looking back, froze at the sight of the now upset twins, quickly realizing that she had flung their candy away from each during her stunt. Their eyes began to tear up as they gred at her.
Suddenly, everything seemed to move at a frame per second.

Dismissing the notification, I quickly shifted my attention back to the twins. Observing the area around them, I noticed it beginning to morph. One seemed to expand, shifting the space excitedly, while the other froze as if on the coldest of days, where no air could move.
It only took me a fraction of a second to realize what was happening, and instantly, Angelica's card shifted into pce, with barriers rapidly forming around the twins.
I wasn't the only one reacting. Angelica's barriers matched mine, working in tandem. Sakura also moved, spinning up and drawing the forming energy away from the twins. But before she could succeed, their energies collided and spilled out in an explosion.
The differential pressure flung Sakura back. Yuno appeared in front of me, hands out, braced for impact. Then the explosion abruptly stopped.
"Oh my, little Anna and Emma really showed you, Sakura. I think you'll think twice about taking their candy next time," Mom ughed, looking at the spiraled-out Sakura.
Observing her, I realized what she had done; she had cleaned the air, restoring it to its natural state. I could only blink at how that even worked.
Looking at the twins, they seemed completely unaware of the commotion they had just caused. Both were looking at their hands. In Anna's hand was a weirdly crystalline white fme that bent and twisted as it sprang from her hand. In Emma's hand were sparkles of bluish-white, like snow.
After observing for a while, the twins waddled over and tugged on my pant leg, lifting their hands to show me what they had discovered.
"Come on, you two, show Mama Amelia or you'll wear poor Yuno out," Mother said. I hadn't realized until then the multiple defensive measures Yuno was still maintaining at my side.
The twins heeded Mom’s suggestion and waddled over to her to show off their findings. When Yuno let her defenses drop, it felt like being plunged into both a desert and the Arctic at the same time; the room was simultaneously freezing and bzing hot.
Yuno’s eyes remained locked on the twins, as if dissecting everything about them, then she spoke into my mind. 'You should train with them in Love Land, brother.' It was unlike Yuno to make suggestions, so whenever she did, I knew I had to take it seriously.
'Why?' I asked back. I had a guess, but I was hoping I was wrong.
'They will not be able to stop themselves from getting into trouble,' she continued, but did not crify further.
"They are toddlers," I said, realizing they were indeed already twelve but still, for all intents and purposes, toddlers.
When Yuno chose not to reply, only silently standing there, I gave up. Then my focus went back to the twins.
Even Sakura and Angelica had a hard time being near their abilities. The barriers Angelica pced on herself and Sakura were melting before freezing, then cracking from the cold before melting again.
We decided to cut the pytime short, with Mom taking them back to her room to try to put them to sleep again. Hopefully, this time she'll succeed, but I know how challenging it can be to fall asleep, especially the first time in a new pce.

The twins reverted to their usual levels as the pydate started. In fact, they probably normalized by the time I returned, but there seems to be some hidden cooldown for dates, at least recollections, so I had to wait. After they couldn’t sleep and when I tried again, it worked.
Once they were gone, Sakura shook her hands and excimed, “Acha, man, they sure pack a punch!”—a phrase she borrowed from me.
Coughing up some blue crystals, Angelica agreed, “Yes, only at level five and already able to overpower us.”
Neither was upset about being hurt; on the contrary, they were pleased. If their Blessing could scale or bypass tiers, it would be even stronger in the future.
“Mom always said scary things come in small packages,” Era giggled as she joined us, dusting off her pink nightie with her usual smile. “I thought she just meant my sister. Thank you, Angie,” she continued as Angelica healed her.
It appeared that, although she was the furthest away, Era came out the worst for wear. Her hair was a mess, and her nightie had parts torn off.
She was the most vulnerable besides me, but even accidentally, the twins' Blessing wouldn't kill anyone unless they intended to. However, having skin burned off or being frozen solid was not out of the question.
We stayed up only a bit longer chatting before heading back to bed, Angelica needed to get up early for the party preparations, and Sakura so she would wake up at all. I walked back to my room, thankful for my map which helped me navigate the long halls without getting lost.
Entering my room, I noticed the sleeping Miki was gone, probably off to check on the twins; she was still a worrywart.
Sitting down on the bed, I realized I wasn't tired in the least. I had been sleeping unusually well, no nightmares, with Miki wearing me out every night since I got back.
Yet, this meant my backlog had grown. I wanted to train more; otherwise, I'd just keep falling further behind everyone around me. Tonight, until morning, I pnned to check out the training room, but first, I shift myself into Love Land.
I had a few things I wanted to accomplish. First, I slotted Anna’s card, and all I received was a burst of instinct that told me all of existence started in fmes. When I switched to Emma's card, it screamed that everything was meant to be still, forever frozen in pce, eternally still.
Neither twin showed any understanding beyond these primal impulses, so I adjusted my strategy and slotted them both simultaneously. When I did, it felt as if they were each on one side trying to tear me apart. I struggled with all my might against the opposing forces, but eventually, I lost control, and a massive explosion erupted with me at the center.
When I came back to consciousness, the cards had returned to the deck, and my face was covered in cold sweat. 'I think I just killed myself,' I thought. Looking around, I couldn't assess the full force of the explosion, but it had to be in the megatons. I was relieved that the buildings around simply reassembled themselves just after my return, sparing any repair costs.
After taking some time to let my racing heart calm down, I decided to move on to the other task. With Shadow 404 in the house, she would overhear us anyway, so I might as well give her the story directly.
I summoned the ninja inside. She appeared in front of me, her eyes darting around quickly before she vanished again.

Reading the notifications, I was annoyed. I was sure you couldn't repair them without being on a date. Or perhaps it was the strong emotion bypassing it? She didn't look particurly surprised, but that didn't mean she felt nothing, something to ponder ter.
"Hey, don't just disappear; I wanted to talk," I said, half dumbfounded, but no answer came.
"If you don't come back out, I'll pull the princess in here to tell on you," I said, mostly joking. I pnned to use a combination of the shadow cards to find her, but to my surprise, she actually reappeared. I hadn't expected that joke to actually work.
Standing there silently watching me was the ninja. “Look, I just wanted to let you know what’s going on,” I said to the silent girl.
“There is no need,” she said simply, doing her best Yuno impression.
“There is a need for me, so you're going to listen anyway. Think of it as making me feel better,” I countered, then began telling her an abridged version of my story, omitting the unnecessary details and most of the goddess snder, though quite a bit still slipped through.
“Any thoughts?” I asked after I finished. She didn't change her expression throughout my story, except when I mentioned her running away, at which point she looked away.
“You will bring a lot of trouble to this city,” she stated immediately.
“Yeah, probably. Is that a problem?” I replied, acknowledging her point.
“No,” she said, then returned to standing silently.
“You could give Yuno a run for her money,” I said to her, before continuing, “Any other thoughts? Anything at all—I'm all ears.”
“You should wipe the area clean after you and your wife are done trying for a child. Others use it,” she said with a small blush. It dawned on me that she had been observing every time Miki and I were together.
“I'll make sure to do that,” I responded, suddenly wishing they had cleaning products here. With that, we fell into an awkward silence.
Breaking the silence was Ruby, who floated over with a sleepy Alice on her head. Upon seeing the new girl, Alice, after rubbing her eyes awake, sprang up and floated over to give the ninja girl a good look, then smiled with all her might and puffed out her chest.
The ninja simply gnced at the girls before her gaze returned to me.
Not receiving the response she had expected, Alice defted slightly before realigning herself and trying her charm once more. When she still failed to elicit a reaction, a half-crying Alice turned around and flew over to me.
"There, there, you're still cute," I said to comfort her. It had been quite a while since her charm had failed. Even so, it was endearing to see Alice still trying to get Seraphina to react, despite the girl just not understanding it.
Looking over, I noticed Ruby eyeing the ninja, studying her while slowly circling around. As she did, the smaller girl's eyes began to glow slightly, and her nipples could be seen hardening, protruding through her clothing.
