Chapter Ten Decides to Leave
"Master, you're awake!" Dais heard a noise outside the room and knocked on the door to ask.
"Come in, Des!" Francis said, smoothing his hair. Seeing Des walk in, Francis immediately asked: "What's wrong with me? Des! Why am I lying in bed?"
"Master! You've been unconscious for three days!" Dais said with a shocking message.
"What! Fainted again! Three days! So long! Ah! Right! Marco! Marco's corpse!" Francis jumped up from the bed, Marco had already caused him immense pain, if even his corpse was damaged, Francis feared he would never be able to forgive himself!
"Don't worry, young master! The body has been buried, I'm very sorry, it wasn't done with your consent!" Dis said with a hint of apology.
"No, you did great!", Francis said as he lay back down. Francis was still a very traditional person, the dead are to be respected, and it's better for them to rest in peace sooner rather than later... only he didn't get to see Marco one last time...
The house was quiet for a while!
"Ah! Dis, that... the corpse of that girl... and the corpse of that old swordsman?" Francis asked with his head lowered.
"I buried them both on the spot! I think Master would have done the same if he were here."
"Really!" Francis...
"Des, what was wrong with me that day? I felt like a stranger to myself at the time!"
"That day, the master suddenly erupted like an explosion!" Dais thought for a moment and said "Based on my speculation, it's possible that anger clouded his mind! His spiritual power was in disarray, causing the potential within him to explode, and the master couldn't control this power at the time, being controlled by his own strength instead!"
"Ah! In that case, isn't it very dangerous?! Why didn't you stop me?!" Francis recalled the girl's eyes and painfully buried his head in his knees.
"I can't stop it!" Disc said regretfully, glancing at Francis who had his head buried. "The master is being controlled by his own power, or rather, it's a self-preservation mechanism of the body. If that power were to run amok, it would likely cause irreparable damage to the body! So the body is allowing the power to take control and release itself on its own! And as for the master's true strength that erupted that day, I estimate that even I wouldn't be able to defeat it!"
"How can I avoid being controlled, is there a good way?" Francis asked quietly after a moment! "I don't want to happen again next time, what if I hurt the people around me...!"
"Get stronger! Strong enough to control this power is all I need!"
"Get stronger!!"
"After a brief silence in the room, Francis spoke up: 'Take me to see Marko!'"
"Alright, young master!"
Francis crouched in front of Marco's tombstone in the cemetery outside the town, Dis stood silently behind him, the earth around was very new, recently buried...
"Marco! I've decided to leave this town! There's nothing left for me here except you! I promised you, I'll become a great wizard!" Francis strokes the name "Marco" on the tombstone.
After finishing speaking, Francis fell silent for half a day, unsure of what to say...
"Then! I'm off! When I come back, I'll fulfill my promise to you!" Francis turned around and left, but seemed to have thought of something and stopped. He walked back to Marco's grave, knelt down and kowtowed three times without saying a word. Standing up again, Francis turned to Des beside him and said: "Des, go back and pack up! We're leaving here tomorrow morning!"
"Alright, young master! But have you decided where to go?" asked Dis as he followed Francis, who didn't have much to pack and only had a holy robe on his back.
"I'm not very familiar with this continent either! I thought of enrolling in the academy first, but the academy won't be recruiting until next year, so let's go out and gain some experience for now! As for this town, I don't want to stay here anymore!" Francis said, looking back at Maruko's grave.
"Besides, let's go eat first! If I'm not mistaken, it's been a long time since I last ate! If I don't eat something soon, I'll starve to death!"
"Is that so! He's been unconscious for three days!" Thinking of Francis' appetite, and then thinking about him not eating for three days, Dice had a terrible premonition...
"Ah! I'm so full!" Francis patted his bulging belly, automatically ignoring the petrified crowd around him, and walked out of the restaurant with a expressionless Dis. On the table behind them...
"Dees, what did you go out and buy?! I was eating dinner just now!" Francis asked Dees as he walked into the house.
Just now when Francis was having dinner, Dee couldn't bear the huge pressure of being surrounded by onlookers and excused himself to go out for a while under the pretext of buying something!
"Oh! It's a map! I bought the Continental Map and the Caesar Empire Map!" Dis closed his eyes, not daring to look at Francis. His previously bulging stomach had already completely deflated! Dis didn't know what to say anymore! He felt that he should be more polite in front of the young master, but his usual tone was very arrogant, so he rarely spoke. He knew he wasn't a calm person, but now he found himself being silent for longer and longer periods...
"Oh! Let me take a look, ah! The workmanship is not bad!" Francis took over the two maps, which were much more detailed than Francis had thought. He could clearly see the overall appearance of the entire continent. "Here is Caesar, this is Osman, Carter, Solomon, Chaos Kingdom... Ah! This is the Beastman Empire! This is the Elves' Dark Forest..." After studying the situation on the continent for a while, "Has Nadis found another suitable place to hone his skills?"
"Yes! It's right here!" Dais pointed his hand at the large continent map "It's right here!"
Francis followed Des' pointing direction and looked over "Are you sure? Des, this is the Land of Forgetting, Mount Tai! This is a forbidden place on the mainland!" Francis was startled.
The Land of Oblivion, the Ten Million Great Mountains, originally known as the Tanggula Mountain Range. The Tanggula Mountain Range is shaped like a crescent moon, encircling half of the Kaisa Empire! It covers an area larger than an empire, with endless great mountains, said to number over one million! From ancient times to the present, it has been a paradise for magical beasts, rarely visited by humans. Throughout history, the strong from various tribes have fallen within its borders! Over time, this place came to be known as the Land of Oblivion!
"This place is too dangerous! Look, this area has been marked with a red symbol, which means extreme danger! Just the two of us, we might not make it out alive!" Francis said with a serious expression, disagreeing with Dis's opinion. "This place! Even the gods among humans wouldn't dare to set foot here easily! And there are many powerful magical beasts here, including seventh and eighth-tier ones, and even some saint-tier and god-tier ones! Magical beasts of the same tier are much more formidable than other species! If we really go in, it's likely that instead of training, we'll be running for our lives!"
"Adult, if you want to become stronger, you must go through endless battles! I, who can't lay a hand on you, no matter what, can't let you experience the true feeling of battle! We also can't find that many strong people to challenge, and this... "Diss pointed at the map" This is simply a holy land for training! Of course, we don't need to go to the center of the Forgotten Land, the demons there are not only extremely powerful but also numerous! I'm confident in my own strength, but I fear I can't guarantee your safety! However, here... "Diss pointed around the red area" This region is called 'Demon Beast Country', it's on the outskirts of the Tongue Mountain Range, the demon beasts here aren't too strong! It can be a place for training!" Diss said with a serious face.
"Is that so, good! If you feel good about it! Does Dis have any interest in going deeper?" Francis tempted Dis with a voice, and after this outbreak of Francis', the blood in his body was even more vibrant! It seemed to be even more bellicose! Listening to Dis's words, he couldn't help but get excited!
"Master and I think alike!" Di seemed to have thought of something, revealing a ferocious smile!
"This is the real you! I've always wondered, your personality shouldn't be so... gentle! It's very unusual for me!" Francis said with a pat on Dis's shoulder! Marco's death made him cherish the people around him.
"Really! So I've been disappointing adults all along! I thought grown-ups would like someone who is polite!" Dice said, taken aback.
"No, no, it's not that I don't like polite people! It's just that you're not this kind of person at all! From now on, don't be so restrained in front of me, let me see your true face!" Francis said! The Dis in front of him was nothing like the insufferable Dis he remembered.
"I get it! To be honest, I've been holding back for so long! It's really uncomfortable! Hehehe......" Di walked to the table, grabbed a glass of water and drank it all in one gulp!
"Really! Hahaha......" Francis burst out laughing at the audacious Dis.
"Oh, right! Young master, I'll go buy some tents, raincoats and other necessary outdoor tools later..." Dais said as he poured himself a glass of water.
"Hey! Aren't we heading due south? There are plenty of towns along the way, no need to buy so early!" Francis said in puzzlement.
"No! We're not going due south, we're going this way! You see..." said Dais, pointing on the map of Caesar's Empire "We'll head west!"
"That's getting further away from the goal!" Francis interrupted.
"Let me finish!" Diss looked at Francis with dissatisfaction and continued, "You see, the Tongra Mountains are shaped like a crescent moon. We'll go this way: first head west to the Dark Forest here, which is on the outskirts of the Tongra Mountains, then directly south, and finally east to reach our destination!"
"This will waste a lot of time, a straight line between two points is always the shortest!"
"No, in the forest we can walk and cultivate at the same time! And here! This dark forest is also one of our goals!" Dais pointed to a place on the map.
Francis looked around "Is there anything here? There doesn't seem to be a city on the map!"
"Roughly around this location! Sir, do you still remember the ring that girl left behind?" Dais handed over a ring to Francis and said in a low voice.
Francis fumbled with the ring! "Ah... what does that have to do with this!" As soon as he mentioned the girl, Francis's eyes dimmed.
"That map, well... it's more like a stele than a map! That stele mentions a treasure, probably left behind by an empire about 200 years ago! Master, you'll likely be spending money in many places from now on!" Just eating meals will cost us a lot of money already! Dis thought to himself as he finished the water in his cup. He glanced at Francis and found him fiddling with that ring again!
"Master! Do you like this ring? This is a space ring, and it's about 10 cubic meters in size!" Dais introduces his discovery to Francis.
"Can you give me this ring, Dis?" Francis asked, fumbling with the ring! The ring was entirely silver and shone with a white light in the sunlight! As long as spiritual power was input into it, items could be taken in and out.
"Ah! I was going to give it to Young Master anyway!" Dais said nonchalantly.
"This! I'm going out to take care of something! I'll be back tomorrow morning!" Francis put the ring on his left hand, it fit perfectly, seemingly a lady's ring.
"Are you coming with me?! I have to protect the adults' safety at all times!" Deece is a bit worried!
"No need! I want to go alone, don't worry about my safety, that kind of state! I still have feelings! As long as I think about it, re-entering is no problem!" Francis said something that shocked Dice.
"That's it! I'm going out to take care of some business!" With that, Dais turned around and walked out the door.
"Oh! Right, young master, there's something I've been wanting to tell you!" Diess said as he turned around at the doorway.
"Huh? What was that?" Francis asked in confusion.
"You look just like a woman! It's been making me uncomfortable to look at you all this time!" Dais said, exhaling a breath as if he had been holding it in for a long time.
"Is... is that so! I'm truly sorry!" Francis's forehead bulged with a blue vein, and the feeling of being poked where it hurt was not pleasant: Your current appearance is also quite detestable!
Watching Des walk out of the door with a swagger, Francis comforted him with a smile. Des was probably aware of his own distress and tried to shift his attention elsewhere.
He touched the ring on his hand! Francis strode out of the door...
