When the demon hatched out of the egg, it was all I could do to not let the terror clawing at my insides to show in my expression. I had to grind my teeth to keep them from chattering. Our turn to fight won’t be until the third day, since I’m leading a small band of young, inexperienced fighters.
I have to hand it to the Azure Dragon clans. They really are a great people. I had a bad opinion of them since almost every problem in the camps were caused by their incessant feuds and rowdiness, but they’ve proven their worth.

Of course, our White Tiger clan warriors were the first to dive into battle with the enemy, but that’s because they are the fastest. The dragon clans, on the other hand, have never been known for their speed. Yet they charged into the fray without a care, screaming their strange battle cries and wielding their great spears.
They’re devastatingly effective when they’re fighting a common enemy instead of each other.

- The Shuye POVs are normally comedic, but this time there is a war. The clan members aren't as blasé as Violet.
- Shuye himself is worried, but I imagine a lot of the warriors do enjoy the battle. It's not like they get a lot of chances to fight.
