The Spire of Ego Part 1

The doors swung open, and Lilith entered, accompanied by three angel guards and Angel Ariel. She wore a stunning red long-sleeved suit that shimmered with a subtle white glow. Her long, blonde hair fluttered around her, and her wide, blue eyes sparkled with a teasing glint, as if daring anyone who caught her gaze. Adding to her allure were her sleek red heels. Her makeup was flawless, accentuating her natural beauty. As she smiled, her gaze drifted to her wedding ring, which glittered in response, symbolizing her love and commitment.

Lucifer looked at her and smirked, but his eyes looked down on her. Everyone bowed to Lucifer, except for Lilith. He waved his left hand, and his wedding ring glinted. Lilith began to giggle and covered her mouth.

Lucifer said, smiling, "You have grown quite bold since your last visit to Heaven, my darling Lilith." Lilith bowed to him and replied, "You flatter me, Your Majesty. I am but a humble servant of yours." Lucifer laughed and said, "You never dared to squeak around me before, and now you're being sarcastic. You certainly know how to make me laugh, Lilith." The atmosphere around them was tense, and the angels could feel the unease in the air.

Lilith smiled and said, her piercing eyes locked on Lucifer, "You always know how to make a woman happy, Your Majesty. But I dare ask, where is my daughter?" Lucifer stepped down from his throne and approached Lilith. He grasped her chin and whispered in her ear, "My daughter, Lilith. Not yours. You abandoned her eighteen years ago." His eyes were icy, and Lilith felt a surge of fear in her heart, but she remained composed, which only made Lucifer laugh. Lilith spoke in a nervous tone, "Your Majesty, I know you're angry with—" Lucifer cut her off, his voice laced with anger and sarcasm. "Don't dare apologize in front of others, Lilith. You are my Queen, and these angels are nothing but lowlifes who would take advantage of our shortcomings. We'll discuss this privately. For now, let's attend a feast and put on a united front."

Ariel stepped closer to Lucifer and said, "Oh great King of Hell, you are too merciful..." But Ariel's words caught in his throat when he met Lucifer's gaze, his eyes blazing with fury. Ariel felt his life force ebb away. Lucifer gestured to Lilith, and with a gentle smile, he offered his hand. Lilith's eyes sparkled as she placed her hand in his. Lucifer's fingers brushed against her wedding ring, and he whispered in her ear, "You couldn't take it off, could you?" Lilith smiled softly, her eyes locked on his, and whispered, "You will never stop making me fall for you."

On the other hand, Charlie was unaware of the war unfolding at Lucifer's Castle. She made her way towards "The Spire of Ego," a territory ruled by Vox, the lord of pride. The demons inhabiting this realm were consumed by the sin of pride, which, as the root of many sins, made it the largest territory in Hell, teeming with countless sinners.

At the gates of the territory, a guard stood watch. Beelzebub stepped out of the car and instructed Charlie, "Your Highness, please wait in the car while I speak with the guard." Charlie nodded solemnly, her eyes serious, as Beelzebub approached the guard. Meanwhile, Alastor's unsettling smile grew even wider as he gazed out from the car.

After a brief conversation, the guard opened the gate, and the car proceeded inside. The lord of Pride, Vox, emerged to personally open the car door for Charlie. Alastor exited from the other door and said, "Long time, no see, old friend." Vox's expression flickered, and he bowed to Charlie, saying, "It is an honor for me that Your Highness has deigned to visit greatest territory of mine."

Charlie commanded, "Show me your people, Vox." Vox was taken aback that Charlie didn't address him as "Lord Vox." Alastor smiled and stepped closer to Charlie, saying, "Didn't you hear the Princess, Vox?" Vox struggled to maintain his composure, but his pride was clearly wounded. He addressed Charlie, "Your Highness, my people are prideful, so please be patient with them. They are unaware of your...status." Charlie's eyes turned cold as she replied, "Vox, they are my people. I know how to command their respect."

Charlie sensed someone's gaze upon her. As she turned to locate the person, she spotted a man standing outside the territory. He smiled when their eyes met, and Charlie felt an inexplicable connection. He appeared to be a normal human, yet his eyes shone with an captivating light that left Charlie entranced. Alastor noticed her distraction and followed her gaze, but there was no one in sight. He cleared his throat, breaking the spell, and Charlie snapped back to reality. The mysterious person had vanished. Alastor reminded her, "Your Majesty, we don't have much time."

As Charlie entered, she was surrounded by numerous demons. However, there were some striking commonalities among them. Their heads were held so high that they couldn't see their own feet. They constantly gazed upwards, their eyes fixed on the sky, and as a result, they stumbled and bruised themselves, oblivious to the obstacles ahead. Even the architecture of the houses reflected this excessive pride, with structures that seemed to stretch upwards, eager to touch the sky. The demons didn't even bother to look at what they were eating, but they made sure to flaunt their supposedly exquisite cuisine to others, seeking validation and admiration.

Charlie's eyes widened in surprise as she took in the scene. Meanwhile, Vox thought to himself, "Tch, if Beelzebub weren't here to guard Charlatan Morningstar, I would have killed her here." Beelzebub shot Vox a warning glare, but Vox simply smiled and stepped forward, announcing, "Dear Pride demons, my people, our great Princess Charlatan Morningstar has graciously descended upon us. Let us showcase our renowned hospitality, with the pride befitting our noble nature."

The announcement fell flat, with no one paying attention. Vox smirked, but his eyes betrayed a hint of guilt as he turned to Charlie and said, "Please forgive their rudeness, Your Highness. They are simply unaware of the proper etiquette." Charlie, well aware of Vox's cunning nature and the veiled insult in his announcement, smiled wryly and said, "Beelzebub, please demonstrate to them who I truly am." Vox's eyes locked onto Charlie's, and for an instant, he saw a haunting resemblance to Lucifer in her smirk. A shiver ran down his spine, but he composed himself, careful not to reveal his fear. Beelzebub unsheathed his legendary sword, and the demons, sensing their mortality, promptly bowed in reverence to the Princess.
