I was relaxing on my couch, drinking some tea and petting Nilah when I got shivers through my spine. Was something targeting me? Maybe having a home isn’t that good of an idea as I will be sitting still for quite long. I was allowed to leave from the city now, so I should do that.
We might have another pain in the ass adventure. Are you ready Nilah?
Nilah was bored so she was more than ready. I tugged on the [Dimensional Anchor] and appeared in the former elven village. It was a short walk, so I took my time getting there. It was looking good. The elves didn’t notice me this time, as it should be. I casually walked into the elven village which was way smaller than their previous one.
An elf noticed me as I was getting close to Bywen’s residence. It was easy to tell because it was larger than the rest. It has to be because Bywen is 2 heads taller than an average elf. “Huh whoa! When did you get here?”
I just arrived here.
I walked into Bywen’s house and the elf tried to stop me. “Hey wait! Knock first!” He was too late.
I walked into Bywen doing some insane cooking feat. She was fully using all 4 of her arms.
It seems you have fully gotten used to your body.
“Oh welcome back Agnis. You should tell me when you return.” She faced me but her arms were still continuing cooking as if nothing happened.
I came here on a whim. Kinda. I came to check up on Elliana and on you. Did any spirit tethers snap?
“They did, but they were easy to fix with all the Ichor Pneuma you had left behind.”
I also had to fix snapped spirit tethers with Ichor Pneuma, but it wasn’t a big problem. It was still happening, however.
“I was about to visit Elliana after cooking this. Can you help me pack this up?”
It seems you fully embraced the role as village mother.
She smiled. “You think so?”
The random elf, Bywen and I packed in the food she had made. The elf would deliver this throughout the village, while Bywen and I headed off to Byron’s home. “Elliana, it’s me. Agnis is also here.”
“Come in.”
We entered. There was a large bed in the living room and Byron was laying in it. Elliana was by his side, and it looked like she had been crying a lot.
“It seems you can finally leave the city. What have you been up to ever since?” Elliana said in weak voice.
Nothing much. I’m fine, what about you? You look like a mess.
“Agnis! Be more considerate! Her father is greatly injured!” Bywen said in a motherly reprimanding tone.
“It’s fine, Bywen, that’s how he is. As you can see, my father still hasn’t woken up. I don’t think he’s going to make it…”
Is it [Spite]?
Bywen crouched down and applied life spirit energy to Byron. “If it was [Spite] I would be able to remove it. Other elves also had this. It’s as if their whole being or life force had been chipped away.”
Uhh what? That’s possible?
Bywen shook her head. “I didn’t think it was, but it seems so. It pains me to say this but his time is up…”
Oh… I’m sorry. I wish I could help.
Elliana shook her head. “It’s fine. You would probably help and get into trouble again. I don’t want to lose more people close to me.”
What is that supposed to mean…
“Greg talks a lot about you, did you know that?”
But Byron…
“I knew it. Thank you. I’m happy that I’m in the group of people that you care for. Thank you for visiting, but I want to be alone for a bit…”
Ok… just say it if you need something.
“Make sure you eat Elliana. Everyone is worried about you.” Bywen said as she got up and gestured for the other elves in this house to leave.
“I will try, thank you.”
We left Elliana’s house and tried to ignore the sobing that came through the walls.
Is there nothing we can do for Byron?
“I’m afraid not. Nothing I tried works.”
The ones you guys were fighting did this? What a dangerous race…
“I’m ashamed to say this, but I wiped them all out. I couldn’t risk the lives of my children.”
Understandable. I would do the same.
An awkward silence fell.

Bywen broke the silence after several minutes. “You came here to ask me something?”
I need to go to the spirit world!
I saw a shock on her face. “Absolutely not!”
Why not?
“They won’t let you leave if you go there. I wouldn’t recommend it.”
Why not?
“Your race is the bridge between the spirit world and here. They will treat you like some god and expect you to bring them all here.”
Ugh, hard pass on that. How am I supposed to fix this spirit problem then?
“I don’t know sorry. We can use our Dimsha, but I’m not sure how effective that is going to be if they are going to get sent back.” Bywen called over an elf. “I need the Million Voices Dimsha, bring it to me.” The elf nodded and ran off.
Is it something you should just use like that?
“No but this is an emergency, isn’t it?”
Hmm yeah it is.
Bywen got handed the Dimsha and she blew the horn. A connection opened to the spirit world and a large mass of spirits came rushing out.
Whoa!
She blew the horn again and the opening widened, but no spirits came out. Our spirit energy also didn’t get stronger.
“Hmm, that is strange.” She blew the horn again. All our spirit tethers snapped and both our spirits got sucked in. There was nothing I could grab on all I could grab on was Bywen.
So how bad is this?
“Very bad…”
We got sucked completely in the opening. It was as if we got pulled through the dimensional fabric and suddenly we were in a world with a dark purple sky and blue-green grass. We were also falling. I tried to connect to the air leyline currents, but I had no body.
Uhhm why am I falling like a human and will falling as a spirit hurt?
“It will hurt yes…”
Is it possible that I can only use foxfire here?
“Unless you can use other spirit magic, yes. I will take care of our fall.” Bywen created some large flowers on the ground below us and it caught us.
I was expecting you to look different but your spirit seemed to have taken on the shape of your vessel.
“It just means that you did a great job at creating it! But the spirit world looks different than I remember…”
It looks, blue greenish and a lot of black patches, is that abyss magic?
I walked over to it, but I got grabbed by 4 arms. “Don’t go near that. It doesn’t vibe well with my spirit energy. I’m not sure if there is death spirit energy, but it might be close. What could have caused this? And why aren’t there any spirits around?”
Maybe they all got sucked up and are on the Mainfloor now.
“I hope so… let’s get away from this blackness. Can you hide your tails?” I tried to hide my tails, but I was unable to.
Hmm this is annoying. Nothing works. I also realize that Nilah is on the Mainfloor. I feel nerfed.
“I see… maybe it’s a good thing that there aren’t many spirits around here. Let’s find a way back.”
Shouldn’t we find out what is going out here?
“We are from the Green floor, this is not our business. I know you want to help, but it will only cause trouble for the both of us. Neither of us can afford to get stuck here.”
Ah right, it’s quite hard for a spirit to get to the Mainfloor right?
“It is, we might find similar difficulties.”
I kept trying to hide my tails while wondering if my true form gets shown when I’m like this. I looked like I’m in 9t mode. Did that mean I can still use illusions? I succeeded in hiding my tails with illusions.
I did it!
“That’s a relief.”
We kept walking through a blue-green forest. It looked very strange; all the colors were strange. The sky was purple and there were no spirits. Only some blackness that was encroaching on the spirit world. Did the fairies invade here too?
I tried to activate my Elgards eyes, but it instantly dropped as I couldn’t control mana in this state. Wow being a spirit surely sucks. I could find out what abilities are tied to my body now. Spatiotemporal magic resisted. I couldn’t use normal fire but foxfire still worked. Wait spatiotemporal magic resisted? Does that mean I could use it as spirit magic? I don’t know any of that.
Dragonvein didn’t work. I had no daggers, wires or swords on me. Frost magic resisted too. Anything else failed. So illusions, frost magic, spatiotemporal magic and foxfires are tied to my spirit. I thought my frost magic was from my phoenix side. Maybe I awakened frost from my 9t side too. Either way, I could currently only use foxfire and illusions. Anything that makes me a 9t I suppose.
Fighting here with foxfire was an easy way to get found out though…
Hey Bywen, I can only use foxfires… can you teach me some simple yet effective spirit magic? I can only use [Spirit Bolt] and 2 lightning attacks but I can’t use those without my body.
“I am only proficient in life and water spirit magic in this state. I don’t think you can use any of them. I am not great at spirit magic without element.”
This is going to suck, isn’t it?
“Yes, it will… I’m starting to miss the ability to use normal magic already.”
So, do we run if we smell trouble?
“That would be wise yeah.”
So where are we going?
Bywen pointed into the distance. “To where I managed to get out of the spirit world millennia ago.”
Let’s hope it still works.
“I hope it does. Getting out here is mostly luck based.”
Uh oh. Luck doesn’t like me.
