Chapter Sixty: Wolf?
Like being in an ice cellar, this was Bai Ruo's only thought at the moment. Suddenly, a thread of regret rose in his heart. Why didn't he believe in Qin Hao's strength when others told him about it? Was it worth provoking Qin Hao out of jealousy?
The thought flashed through his mind quickly, and Bai Fan gritted his teeth, the dagger in his hand shone brightly as he slashed fiercely towards the source of the sound.
Qin Hao let out a cold laugh, his two fingers lightly extending. The dagger, swift as the wind, was caught by Qin Hao's effortless move. With a burst of force from his two fingers, cracks spread across the dagger like a spider web, and then with a flick of his wrist, the entire dagger shattered into countless fragments that scattered to the ground.
"Are you out of options?" Qin Hao asked with narrowed eyes.
Bai Fan's eyes seemed to have bloodshot, his steel teeth clenched, his right leg lifted high, like a battle axe chopping down with all his might.
Qin Hao's hands flowed with mysterious energy, and a seemingly ordinary punch was thrown out, directly hitting Qin Hao's abdomen. Bai Fan instantly flew back several feet like a shrimp, bowing his body.
"Qin Hao, how dare you lay hands on a member of the Bai family?" A sturdy-looking young man from the Bai family stepped forward, his face stern and menacing.
The Bai family's sons all glared at Qin Hao with anger in their eyes, gritting their teeth, but none of them dared to take a step forward.
"Want to try?" Qin Hao smiled harmlessly: "If next time someone dares to speak on behalf of the Qin family, I will let you know..."
Qin Hao raised his right hand and a ball of dark energy brewed in his fist, slapping it towards a giant tree with a trunk as thick as several people embracing.
Bang!
Wood chips flew everywhere, a huge hole appeared on the tree body, and countless cracks extended from the hole to all over the tree. Under everyone's gaze, the big tree slowly tilted and finally crashed down with a loud noise.
"What is true hands-on." Qin Hao's second half of the sentence followed lightly.
The Bai family was shocked and their hands and feet were cold, their throats were dry and their mouths were extremely bitter.
"Alright." Changfeng suddenly stood up and smiled: "The demonic beasts here have been hunted to a considerable extent, let's go deeper."
Yan Yan stood up and walked to the place where the bodies of several demon beasts were piled up, clapped his hands, a bright light flashed by, and countless demon beast bodies instantly disappeared.
Yan Yan Liang raised the ring in his hand and said: "The corpses of the demon beasts hunted by each family, I have allocated positions for them. Let's continue moving forward."
The two of them continued to lead the way forward, with thirty black-clad guards closely following behind. Behind them, the young masters of various families followed closely as well. Qin Hao cast a warning glance at the White family members and also followed along with Qin Shan, Qin Yu Xian, and others.
The Bai family and others helped White Ruo up, and also hurried to follow. After a while, White Ruo's condition was much better, able to walk alone, but after that, no one dared to come forward and provoke again, occasionally someone glanced at Qin Hao, they would hastily dodge, not daring to stay for a moment. Qin Hao also became much more peaceful because of this.
A group of people's footsteps went deeper into the forest, but what made Qin Hao wonder was that at first, there were still many first-class demon beasts on the outskirts of Lan Jinglin. As they went deeper, however, the traces of demon beasts became fewer and fewer, and the entire forest was in a state of complete silence.
The air was heavy and lifeless, devoid of any vitality, with an eerie sense of oppression lingering.
"Not right." Qin Hao furrowed his brow and reminded Qin Yuxian beside him: "Be careful, you've gone too far."
A rare serious expression appeared on Qin Yuxian's small face, she hesitated for a moment before turning to Qin Shan and saying: "Big brother, tell Qin Ze and Qin Chao to be careful, the atmosphere doesn't feel right."
Qin Shan saw that the two had a serious expression on their faces, and he also became vigilant. He instructed the people around him, "Be careful, don't be careless."
The originally relaxed and calm Qin family members suddenly all raised their spirits, secretly mobilizing their vital energy. The people from the other families also discovered that something was off and all became vigilant.
The crowd continued on their way. Almost everyone was silent.
"Something really went wrong in the quiet forest."
The two people's eyes met, and at the same time, they both had this thought.
"It seems like there's some kind of smell." Qin Hao suddenly furrowed his brow, his tone heavy.
As soon as this sentence was finished, a scene appeared in front of everyone, and everyone's heart sank.
Corpses, densely packed corpses, a few of which were human bodies, while the rest were all kinds of demon beast corpses. First-class peak demon beasts, second-class primary demon beasts, and second-class intermediate demon beasts' corpses were everywhere.
Hanging from tree branches, blood still dripping down; the corpse was split in two, one half hanging from a branch, the other half scattered randomly on the ground; the body seemed to have been exposed for a long time, completely dry and only a layer of skin left; all sorts of corpses were everywhere.
The ground was littered with various internal organs, skulls, and some demonic beasts' intestines were even pulled out directly, scattered all over the place. Some areas had long since been thoroughly dyed red-black by fresh blood, while others had dried into a deep black color, looking extremely eerie.
The smell in the air is nauseating, just one sniff and it feels like a storm is brewing in the stomach.
Seeing this situation, most people reacted with their most instinctive response: holding onto a clean tree trunk and vomiting until their intestines almost came out.
Even Qin Shan, who usually looked calm and composed, was vomiting so hard that his bile almost flipped out. The rest of the Qin family were also shocked, but Qin Yuxian remained the most calm, her face only slightly pale.
Qin Hao furrowed his brow, staring intently at all of this. He didn't have any particularly severe reactions. It was just that the smell in the air was really too unbearable, and even he could hardly stand it. This had nothing to do with so-called fear, but rather came from instinct.
"It seems that this time, it's not going to be easy to deal with." Qin Hao moved his hands and feet, and the Flame Seal was activated at full force. Although there were people like Chang Fengyan and Yan Huo, sometimes the only one he could rely on was himself.
"Be on guard!" Long Feng shouted loudly.
Thirty black-clad guards suddenly activated their Xuan Qi, blocking the young masters and mistresses. Their expressions were solemn. Chang Feng and Yan Huo stood on either side, their fierce aura bursting forth into the sky.
A mournful and desolate cry suddenly came from the front, the voice sounded worn out, but it was full of spirit, piercing through the heart. With Qin Hao's cultivation, hearing this kind of voice, he actually felt a sense of submission rising up. His legs softened, almost kneeling down.
Qin Ze and others' eyes were already dim, their whole body's mysterious energy had all dispersed, their skills stagnant.
"Drink." Qin Hao activated his technique, and a loud shout exploded like thunder.
Hmph!
In an instant, those bewildered young men saw clarity in their eyes once again. Many of the lower-level cultivators spat out a mouthful of fresh blood, but their minds were clear and unobscured.
In front of Chang Feng and Yan Yan, a wolf stood, its fur sleek and shiny, exuding an aura that was both captivating and intimidating. However, the wolf's bright eyes seemed to be unable to see anything, as if it had locked onto Qin Hao and the others solely through instinct.
That wolf stood quietly there, giving people a sense of being at the foot of a great mountain. Like an overlord ruling supreme, it had an overwhelming presence.
"Cyan Wolf." Long Feng said solemnly: "It's actually this kind of demonic beast."
"It's impossible for the Blue Quiet Forest to have a pack of gray wolves." Yan Yan lightly exhaled: "But it's also good, this kind of demon beast is still within our control. And it seems that this one can't see things either."
Qin Hao also let out a sigh of relief. The Wolf clan, although he didn't understand why they appeared here, but the second-tier peak strength was still clearly controlled by Chang Feng and Yan Yan.
But why did that grey wolf look so strange? Qin Hao's doubts grew stronger.
A loud shout, a burst of cyan light from his hand, and a long sword condensed into being. The delicate cloud pattern on the sword's surface rippled with tiny wind blades swirling around it, exuding an intimidating aura.
"Feng Gou Jiu Po." Long Feng's figure flashed upwards, his agile movements and swordsmanship that frequently revealed killing intent were undoubtedly on display.
Nine consecutive stabs, each sword more majestic than the last, yet the wolf's movements were extremely agile, dodging and weaving with incredible speed. When Long Feng's eighth sword stabbed out, the wolf even lightly landed on the tip of his sword.
"Break." Long Feng's expression changed, and he went all out. The first eight swords' might overlapped, with countless tiny wind blades rising from the tip of the sword, forming a spherical object that enveloped the Cang Wolf.
Hah! Hah! Hah!
The wind blade roared, tearing out dense and small wounds on the surface of the demon beast's body. The Long Wind Sword swung, and the wolf was instantly swept into mid-air.
Yan Yan's right palm moved flat and smooth, three fire-red long swords formed in the void, buzzing with vibration. With a push of his right hand, three streams of light flashed by, and the three long swords stabbed forward swiftly and urgently.
That gray wolf suddenly flew out and seemed to sense something. Its body flipped over an angle in mid-air, as if it was about to dodge Yan Yan's attack.
Qin Hao's eyes flashed red, "Thousand Miles Wind Control" was executed with full force, and his body instantly disappeared from the original place.
"Heaven-Shaking Palm."
Among the crowd's astonishment, Qin Hao suddenly appeared beside Cang Lang, and with one palm, he directly struck the wolf's back.
The wolf that was about to stray off was directly hit by Qin Hao's palm onto the sword blade, and crashed into the fiery long sword.
Boom! Boom! Boom! The fiery long sword suddenly exploded, the wolf was blasted away, heavily falling out, flying out nearly ten zhang, and colliding with many ancient trees along the way.
"Good job, kid." Longfeng nodded at Qin Hao and rushed towards the direction where Cang Lang had flown off. Yan Yan was even more direct, giving a thumbs up before rushing off with Longfeng. Qin Shan and Qin Yuxian hurried to Qin Hao's side, sizing him up from head to toe.
"Qin Hao, are you alright?" Qin Shan asked with concern.
"Not a wolf." Qin Hao shook his head, his voice laced with a hint of doubt. It was as if he were asking someone, yet also seemed to be questioning himself. The eyes of that strange wolf from earlier kept replaying in front of Qin Hao's eyes. The color of its pupils wasn't right!
"What is not a wolf?" Qin Yu's eyes seemed to hold a deep concern.
"That beast is not a gray wolf, its eyes are not right." Qin Hao muttered to himself. Suddenly, several pictures of the beast's records rushed out from his mind, and Qin Hao's face changed drastically.
"Beware, it's not a wolf!" Qin Hao shouted loudly in the direction of the two men chasing after him.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Two figures flew back in a sorry state, their mouths and noses still bleeding profusely. It was actually Long Fengyan who had been so spirited just moments before!
