{Chapter - 4} Theres many. Also, New Encounters!

  Feyre

I was dreaming. I knew I was dreaming because despite how beautiful the surroundings were, I couldn't find a clock anywhere. Not even my phone had one. So I forced myself awake and instantly regretted it. My hunger was now roaring at me, the rumbles becoming avalanches of pain. Luckily, or not so luckily, my mangled arm was still more painful so my hunger was blunt and not sharp.

Looking at my arm, I saw two things which interested me. First, there was a little Mousicorn on it. Second, It was nowhere near as bad as it was when I drifted off. I looked at the rest of me and realised that I was very much better off than I was. Looking up, I realised it was almost night again. That meant the other wolves might come looking for the dead Scout.

That internal revelation spurred me to my feet. I tensed expecting that my ankle would attempt to give way but it seemed that it had been fully healed overnight. So either I have a Fairy Godmother... Or there's some sort of natural regeneration in this world. I grinned and set off, making sure to put some of those poison berries in my pocket and pick up my spear stick. It was battered and worn but it hadn't failed me yet.

It was cloudy today, looked like there was going to be rain that night. I continued on anyway, following the river down in search of the path. I never disliked the rain, some of my happiest moments were in the rain. The leaves of the trees rustled in the wind, the birds were singing their evening songs, perhaps saying goodnight, perhaps warning of the approaching danger of the night. I continued onwards until I couldn't see 20 foot in front of me anymore. Then I paused as, yet again, the forest went silent.

My left hand gripped the Spear tightly and I glared at the shadows. I heard the soft padding of paws, eight paws hit the ground. Two wolves... I grimaced but steeled myself for another fight. My heartbeat sped up again, my hairs stood on end, my knuckles ached from gripping the spear so tightly. The wolves revealed themselves, neither of them were as big as the first Wolf I fought and that made me slightly more confident, after all if these were lesser versions of the Greater Wolf then they're just Wolves.

"So... You two are just normal Wolves then?" I leant my head to one side questioningly. These two didn't have that same look of cruel intelligence that the Greater Wolf did.

I grinned and put my right hand into my pocket and dropped the berry onto the ground before stabbing it with my spear, smothering more of it over my spear tip. The Wolves growled and I smirked as they tensed up. The one on the left dashed forwards extremely fast. It was faster than the Greater Wolf I'd fought, but not fast enough. I swung at my waist height, snagging the Wolf's snout and watching it as every single muscle contracted and it collapsed onto the ground. It let out a high pitched whine that seemed to go on forever, as his friend just stood in a crouched ready stance and glared at me.

I kicked the convulsing Wolf in the jaw and saw it go still other than a few twitches. Only then did its partner attack, running in an odd pattern that meant I couldn't predict what way it would attack from. So I dropped into a Fool's Guard and waited. I didn't need to wait for very long, considering it ended up just jumping at me head on. I angled my spear up and stepped back, watching the Wolf impale itself on the poisoned spike of the makeshift spear. It died instantly, and I looked at my system notifications as I pulled the spear out of its cranium.

I looked at the two corpses and nodded. This was to be expected. They were lesser than the Greater Wolf and I used a Poison that could quite possibly one shot said Greater Wolf. I stared at the corpses for a bit longer before sitting on a rock and taking a breather. I looked at the Wolves and my stomach growled. I was absolutely starving.

Before I could do anything though another wolf entered the clearing and saw the two bodies. It was big, probably a Greater Wolf, and it looked angry. It howled into the night and I heard the sound of a lot of paws hitting ground. I took out another poisonous berry and dropped it to the ground, piercing it and smothering the goop all over the spear.

I stood up and sighed, rolling my shoulders and acting a lot more confident than I felt. The largest wolf, the first one, growled and two smaller ones dashed forwards. They were obviously going for a pincer attack and I let them. When they both jumped at me I rolled backwards. I heard the crunch and yelps, looking up to see the two had fallen to the ground. I finished them both off by walking over and stomping repeatedly on their heads until they stopped moving. All this while the Greater Wolf and the other normal Wolves just watched. It was a bit freaky but I didn't care.

I dropped into a Fool's Guard again and waited for the next wave. I was breathing slightly heavy but I trusted in my body to not give out while in a life or death situation. Another two Wolves dashed at me, flexing claws upon the Greater Wolf's commanding growl. I raised my spear and thrust at the one that was faster, ducking out of the way of the one that wasn't. However, I misjudged the swipe and got nicked in the calf by a claw, making me wince before I span and shoved the spear through the Wolf's ear, and out the other. I wrenched away and looked the Greater Wolf dead in its eyes. "So then... You're the Boss? The Alpha wolf?" I cringed at how terrible that sounded but it got the point across.

  [Correctly Identified [Wolf Pack-Leader].]

I nodded. "You're a terrible boss..." I frowned took a step forwards, falling into a Long-point stance. The Boss, as that's what I had decided to call him, let out a low guttural growl. The rest of the pack stepped forwards and I sighed. I was pretty good, and even a small nick with my spear would probably end up killing a wolf but if these lackeys wore me out then I was dead meat against the Boss. It seemed like the Boss had come to the same conclusion because I swore I could see it smirk.

Then I heard a man's voice yelling. I turned just in time to see a massive ball of fire heading straight for the Boss. I fell to the ground and lay flat as the flame flew over my head at stupidly fast speeds. I looked up in time to see the Boss howl in pain, a deep, primal sense of fear tinged its voice as it cried out. The fire didn't stop, if anything it grew higher. I turned my head to see three humanoid bodies enter the clearing. I let out a sigh of relief when one of them spoke to me, a soft smooth masculine voice, from the biggest of the three. "Don't worry, we'll deal with the remaining wolves. You did a good job delaying them." I wanted to reply, but the man turned away and shouted orders at the other two. "No holding back! There's a Pack Leader here!"

I groaned and got to my feet, the smallest one, also a man judging by his silhouette, had a glowing sword of energy coming from his forearm and was dressed kind of like a very leaf-y Ninja. The Fire Gal was... well a fire gal. She threw fire at the wolves left and right, eviscerating them. The man who'd spoken to me was obviously a Knight or something. He had what I thought to be a Huntsman Axe but he was swinging it with one hand, cleaving through swathes of Wolves without rest. He was twirling it like one might twirl a pen, if a pen was almost the size of your entire arm and could cut through bone.

I just watched, not even one Wolf reached me as I stood there in the middle of the forest. The small man, Ninja Boy, turned to me after looking at one of the wolves I'd killed and spoke. His voice was quite soft as well. "You used Agathi Berries to poison your uh... stick?" Hr looked genuinely interested in what I'd done so I tried not to get too indignant about him calling my spear a mere stick. I nodded and replied, trying my best to not let it slip that I didn't even know what the berries were, other than poisonous. "I used these on the tip of my makeshift spear to poison the Wolves..." I pulled out some of the Green and Yellow berries and showed him once he got close enough that we could comfortably see colour. He stared at me like I was crazy. "Why are you just holding them!? Those are extremely poisonous! just holding them drains your HP like crazy!" I stared back at him and just dropped them to the ground, one at a time just to piss him off.

"Huh... That's why it stings..." I shrugged as he stares at me like I'm insane again. He looked slightly peeved, but I just swung my spear and killed a Wolf that was trying to sneak up on us. He stops looking pissed when he sees the frothing Wolf at his feet. "So... Did you uh... Enter the forest with anyone, Milady?" I froze and he obviously took that as I didn't want to talk about it, so he left it be. He instead changed the topic at my stomach's intense growling. "Milady... have you eaten at all recently?" At the shake of my head he reaches into some hidden pocket and pulls out some sort of ration bar. "Here you go... I know it probably isn't as good as you're used to but you sound famished..." He nodded and waited as I ate the bar hungrily. It tasted like heaven to me, who hadn't eaten since that fish I somehow managed to catch.

Fire Gal came over with the Axe Knight once they'd checked all the bodies are dead. They saw me eating Ninja Boy's Ration bar and seemingly understood as they both offered theirs to me as well. I felt a bit bad by taking them, but then I ate them and felt satiated. I finally took this silence to look at my system.

The three looked at me and Fire Gal knelt down, making a campfire and lighting it, bathing all of us in a warm glow. She and the Knight's eyes widened when they saw me, or perhaps when they saw my dress. They all automatically assumed I was a Noble I reckoned. After all, I was extremely beautiful, if I did say so myself, and had a fancy dress on even if it was now quite ripped. The three then looked at each other before my right arm, which was still slightly mangled. The Knight walked over. "Uh... Is your arm in need of a sli-" I cut him off with a brisk shake of my head and gave him a weak thumbs up to prove my point. He nodded and turned to the others. "Alright. I guess we take her with us? Tyrril wouldn't be happy if we just left her here... Especially someone who he has the potential of knowing..." The Knight then came over to me and randomly knelt down. "Milady, would you mind if I picked you up? You are injured and our base camp is not too far..." I blushed slightly but that was hidden by the dark, I nodded and let the Knight lift me into a princess carry.

The trio then sprinted off, following the river down. After a couple minutes they they reached a bridge with a campsite on the other side of the river. I was put down and Fire Gal helped me dust myself off a bit before we entered. The first thing I noticed about this camp site was the bigger tent at the very centre. I leant my head to the side in questioning until an average height, slightly rotund, man walked out. He was clearly a Noble or a Merchant by his clothes, and by my deduction I guessed he was Tyrril. "Is that the Tyrril you spoke of? I regret to inform you that we are not acquainted..." I step forward, deciding to curtsy slightly. "I wish we could have met under better conditions."

He bows slightly. "Yes, that would have been nicer." He turned to the Knight. "Karrlund, was she the only one that you... found?" At that the Knight, Karrlund, nodded solemnly and briefly glanced at me and my injuries, like the cut on my thigh. "Yeah... She was surrounded by Wolves when we got to her and alone. She managed to kill four by herself before we had arrived though... Emrik seemed to know how but didn't tell me." He nodded at Ninja Boy, Emrik, who nodded and gestured for me to show something, so I took out one of the Green and Yellow berries. Karrlund and Fire Gal both gasped and Tyrril nodded sagely. Karrlund sighed "That explains a lot... That was quite smart Milady. If you follow Pavolia there she can patch you up slightly as well as your clothes..." He pointed to Fire Gal, Pavolia, and she walked off to one of the larger tents.

I followed behind and entered the tent.
