Chapter 6: Turbulent Waves (Part 1)

Chapter 6: Fierce Waves (Part 1) Seeking Collection

Ba Er's loud roar was like a spring thunder, clearly sent out in the dark and turbulent ocean, echoing again and again.

The whole ship was in an uproar, the sailors rushed out of the cabins, some with bare arms, others still fastening their waistbands, and some even busy wiping away the fake eyeballs they had taken out of their eye sockets.

Barr's boots stomped loudly on the deck, his thunderous roar rolling in waves: "Faster, you guys move faster, don't want to feed the fish in the sea, hurry up and get back to your positions!!"

"Smith, take the sailors and adjust the sails quickly!"

"Tighten up, go quickly and loosen the halyard!!"

"Cut it, Jimmy! Drop the mainsail and jib, fast! If we don't, we'll capsize!!"

"Captain, the wind has tangled the mainsail halyard and we can't open it!" The sailors shouted in horror.

"Hurry up and climb up to take down the sail!"

Barrett's orders were relayed like a string of firecrackers to every corner of the deck, where sailors clung to whatever they could find, shouting above the deluge as they battled this sudden storm and gale.

This storm came too suddenly and too swiftly, so that the sailors on this ship had almost no time to react!

Tang Jie stood alone on the deck, watching as the sailors around him shouted loudly, their muscles bulging like rocks. Some were pulling hard on the sail ropes to control the sails, while others were climbing up the main mast along the ropes. Their bodies were dripping wet, making it impossible to tell what was rainwater and what was sweat.

One huge wave after another crashed onto the deck, sending the sailors who were hauling on the sheets flying in all directions. They were shouting loudly as they were washed to the side of the ship, under the capstan, and some were even tossed up by a wave and then knocked their heads against the iron cannons at the bow of the ship, instantly fainting away.

These thunderous waves and earth-shaking howls, seemed to be the shrill cries of slaughter and the blaring of bugles on a battlefield, shaking Tang Jie's lungs and soul!

He had been in all sorts of scrapes, and had plenty of fighting experience, but none of it was worth a single hair compared to the personal experience of being shipwrecked!

Tang Jie was on this nameless sea vessel, one moment being tossed upwards by the turbulent waves, and the next being slammed downwards to the point of almost rolling around on the slippery deck. He used all his strength to maintain his balance, so as not to be thrown out of the boat by the raging waves when he had nothing to rely on and couldn't borrow any force.

Nina yelled loudly beside him, directing the sailors to wrestle with the death god in such a huge wave, while Captain Bar plunged onto the helm platform, using all his strength to hold the steering wheel and prevent it from rotating freely due to changes in the sail position.

Everyone on this ship is fighting, fighting against storms, fighting against tornadoes, except for one person.

Tang Jie grabbed Niya's arm, and the heavy rain pounded against his face, making it hard for him to breathe.

"What should I do?" Tang Jie bellowed, his voice mixed with the howling wind and rain, making it hard to hear.

Nia turned her head, her straight eyebrows raised: "Don't need you to do anything, go back to your cabin! You're not needed here!"

No sooner had she finished speaking than a huge wave over three meters high crashed heavily against the ship!

  Bang!

The hull suddenly tilted violently, and the wooden boards made a terrible creaking sound, as if they were about to collapse at any moment.

The sailors who were hauling the sail ropes on the deck were swept away by this huge wave, let out a cry of surprise, and instantly disappeared from their original position, without leaving any shadow!

In a hurricane, if the sails cannot be lowered in time, the strong wind will toss the ship about like a toy. If the sail's angle and direction are at a 90-degree right angle to the wind direction, it indicates that the sail has borne the brunt of the wind force, and this massive power will be directly transmitted to the hull, causing the boat to capsize easily!

These sailors, who were pulling on the ropes to control the sail's position and direction, were swallowed up by the huge waves. The sails lost control in the strong wind and began to flail wildly. Bal, who was holding onto the steering wheel alone, struggled against the powerful gusts, barely managing to maintain the ship's balance and direction through the rudder, keeping it from being blown sideways at a 90-degree angle to the wind.

His teeth chattered with a loud click, and he roared at Nia: "Nia, quickly control the sail rope and sail position!! The boat is going to capsize!!!!"

In fact, without his reminder, Niya saw the sailors who were pulling the sail rope being blown away, and she immediately jumped up like a mother leopard, grasping the thick and sturdy sail rope.

But the wild wind was stirring up the sails, and such a huge force could hardly be resisted by human beings.

Even if Nia was a second-rate sword fighter, she couldn't resist the power of nature.

She grasped the rope tightly with both hands, her feet braced against the deck, shouting loudly. The thick rope was pulled taut by her, the force trembling through it, but due to the rain-soaked and slippery deck, she couldn't exert her strength. Her palms were rubbed bloody, yet she still couldn't stop the terrifying giant force from dragging her forward inch by inch.

Just as the sail was about to be blown at a 90-degree angle with the wind, Nia suddenly felt a strong force coming from behind her. She took several steps back while pulling on the sail rope and then pulled the sail back in a bit.

She involuntarily turned her head to take a look, but saw Tang Jie standing with his feet wide apart, his center of gravity extremely low, his eyes wide open, and his hands grasping a thick rope. The muscles on his arms bulged like boulders, and the sturdy, twisted veins rolled like snakes.

Tang Jie turned around and shouted at Niya, his voice bursting out of his chest: "Lower your center of gravity, press down on your body, quickly, do as I say!"

At this critical moment of life and death, Niya also ignored her bias, learning from Tang Jie's example, she pressed her body extremely low, transferring all the weight to her feet.

"Listen to my command, let's work together!"

  "One! Two! Three!! Pull!!!!"

Tang Jie's voice sounded like thunder in this storm, clear and unparalleled.

Nina, with the help of Tong Jie, finally managed to pull the sail back into position parallel to the wind direction, which was the most unfavorable angle. She looked up at the sailors climbing on the main mast and shouted loudly: "Quickly release the halyard, lower the mainsail and foresail!!"

Once the mainsail and foresail are lowered, the force is lost, and it's hard for the wind and waves to threaten a boat again.

This was a principle that even Tang Jie, who knew nothing about navigation, understood. He looked up at the sailors climbing on the main mast and saw that suddenly a huge wave came, the ship was thrown into the air, he and Nia were both blown off the deck, and then fell back down with the ship.

With a loud "bang", Nia and Tang Jie both fell to the deck, the two of them rolled into balls, heavily colliding with the side of the boat.

Tang Jie didn't even have time to feel the intense pain all over his body and the softness transmitted from the woman in his arms, when he was pulled forward by a massive force coming from the wind sail.

He was shocked, immediately turned over and stood up, re-established a thousand-pound horse stance, and re-stabilized the sail. Nia in front of him also struggled to get up and re-controlled the wind sail with Tang Jie.

Niya looked up to see that the sailor climbing the rope on the main mast had disappeared, apparently swept into the sea by the huge wave just now. She was shocked and anxious, and shouted loudly at Tang Jie: "You hold the sail rope, I'll go lower the mainsail!"

Tang Jie grabbed her and shouted loudly: "No way, your balance is not enough, I'll go! You grab the sail rope!!"

Tang Jie keenly sensed that although climbing the rope looked like a simple task, it was different from pulling ropes on the deck. A person in mid-air couldn't borrow strength, and it required not only strength but also extremely strong balancing skills. Nia could do internal energy exercises that Tang Jie couldn't, but Tang Jie excelled at mastering body balance by who-knew-how-much more than her.

Before Nia could respond, she herself loosened her grip.

Niya was shocked and angry, at this time if Tang Jie wanted to do evil, then it was true that no one could stop him. She lost Tang Jie's support and her body was immediately pulled by the huge force transmitted from the wind sail for a distance. Her leather shoes made a hissing friction sound on the deck, and her body was constantly being pulled away.

She turned back and shouted loudly, hoping that Tang Jie would come back again. But as soon as she turned around, her heart suddenly felt like it had fallen into an ice cave, cold to the point of being terrifying!

But then Tang Jie stumbled and staggered onto the deck, picked up two axes that the sailors had dropped, and walked towards her!

It's all over; he is coming to kill me!

Nina's eyes widened and she wanted to take the initiative, but she couldn't let go of the rope because it was related to the life of this ship and everyone on it.

She suddenly wanted to apologize for her previous malicious words, but her proud personality, like a thorny rose, made it impossible for her to say it out loud.

Watching Tang Je walk in step by step, Nia suddenly regretted why she had been so impulsive towards him at first.

Now even his own father's life is in danger...

She stared at Tang Jie as he walked in front of her, the axe in his hand raised high, a cold and eerie glow flashing through the air!

Tang Jie let out a loud roar and swung his axe downwards!

There is still one more watch at night...
