Volume 1 Chapter 37 Getting Better
Unexpectedly, the ice muscle lotion was applied to the little cat's body, and the effect was even better than on humans. In less than two days, the festering wounds on its body had basically healed. After washing its small body clean, its fur returned to its original light yellow color. Its round face, folded ears, and short, thick tail made it look unlike any cat I'd ever seen before. If not for its meows, I would have doubted whether it was a cat at all.
This little thing quickly became familiar with me, and the initial fear of coming was swept away. Although the injured leg is still a bit lame, it has already started to jump around.
Looking at its gem-like black and shiny eyes, even Jin Niang couldn't help but reveal a loving smile. Ruo Wei exclaimed in surprise: "Wow, I didn't expect this little thing to be so clean and not bad-looking after washing! Miss, have you decided to keep it?"
I thought seriously, I myself am still a person without a foothold, how can I take it in? But if I let it go, this small life will be even more insecure. Alas, cats are not like humans, if I leave in the future, at least Yuwei and Jinniang will take care of it. This big Fushou Fortress should be able to accommodate a cat.
I made up my mind and seriously told Jin Niang and Ruo Wei that I was going to take in this little cat.
"Then let's give it a name." Ruo Wei said excitedly by the side, still unable to change her little girl nature.
"Alright." Rarely having something delightful, I smiled and said: "Let's all think about it, a name that sounds good and is easy to remember."
"Let's call it Xiao Huang then." Ruo Wei said after thinking for half a day.
"How unoriginal!" I rolled my eyes at her, "When it grows up, it'll just become a big yellow one, it's not like it's a dog."
Lian Jin Niang couldn't help but laugh at the side, and the kitten seemed to be very dissatisfied with this name as well. It fidgeted in my arms, scratching its head uncomfortably, and gave Ruo Wei a discontented glance.
Jin Niang said gently: "It's so small, let's just call it Xiao Budo."
"Hmm" I thought for a moment. Holding up the kitten in front of me. "Little dot, would you like to be called Little Dot?"
The kitten wrinkled its nose. Let out a soft 'hmm'. As if it still had objections. Can it actually understand our words? I curiously put it on the table, leaned in close to its black pupils and laughed: "That's what I call you little silly melon."
"It glared..." It loudly voiced its objection. It took a half step back. Its eyeballs rolled around.
"Ah! It can understand what we're saying." I turned back in surprise, looking at Jin Niang and Ruo Wei.
"Yes, it can understand!" Yu Wei reached out to touch it in surprise, but it jumped away. As if it was very dissatisfied with the name Yu Wei had just given it.
"It's a cat like this. Rarely seen." Jin Niang also walked over, lowering her head to carefully look at the small cat on the table.
"Is it a cat?" I wondered, staring at it and starting to fantasize. Maybe it wasn't a cat at all, but a magical creature that looked like one. The image of "Changjiang No. 7" immediately popped into my mind. Could it be a divine beast come to rescue me?
I guess I made a weird face, the kitten stared at me strangely, let out a soft mew, and swished its tail on the table twice.
"Huh." What was I daydreaming about, fantasizing that a cat would come to save me? It's not like fantasizing about Sun Wukong riding on a colorful cloud to rescue me is any more realistic. I mentally scolded myself for a moment.
I stretched out a finger, scratched its head twice, and said to it: "No matter if you're a cat or not, as long as you live well, hmm, you can be called 'Better', living 'a little better' every day."
It seemed to have really understood what I said, the black and shiny eyeballs actually flashed once, and it called out twice in a low voice, rubbing against my hand affectionately.
"It turns out she likes this name." Ruo Wei said discontentedly beside her.
I was just about to laugh at her when the outer door creaked open and Ling Yi walked in with his hands behind his back. Ru Wei immediately fell silent, timidly greeting him.
Ling Yi's face was expressionless as he waved his hand and said, "All of you get out."
I furrowed my brow, but didn't say a word to stop him. He's been like this for the past few days, every time he comes, he just takes a cold look and doesn't say much. I'm happy not to bother with him either, probably because of what I said that night, he still hasn't gotten over it, petty-minded person. However, today I will send Jin Niang and Ruo Wei away together, which is beyond my expectation, never mind him, let him say whatever he wants.
I played with the good thing in my arms, it curiously stared at Ling Yi with wide eyes, and was surprisingly quiet.
"Where did the cat come from?" Ling Yi asked me coldly.
"It fell from the sky." I deliberately widened my eyes, pretending to look at him innocently. What a pose! Since I was sure he wouldn't do anything to me, I didn't worry about it anymore. Before, I had been too calm, and if I had aroused his suspicion, I would have been in trouble. Now, being on guard against him all the time seemed like my normal behavior, or at least making him unable to understand me was good too.
"Can't you speak properly?" He frowned and looked at me sternly.
"Oh, really?" I feigned surprise. "Are you here to discuss cats? If not, then say what you want to say."
"Are you still mad about what happened that night?" He paused for a moment, and his voice was tinged with resentment.
Am I angry? Or are you the one who can't get over it? I snorted silently in my heart, raised my head and smiled at him: "What's wrong with you tonight?"
His face suddenly sank, wanting to say something but couldn't, standing there staring at me in a daze.
Haha, you're so angry that you can't even get the words out! I'm laughing to myself so hard I'm about to fall over. Holding back my facial muscles from twitching, I deliberately say in a pretentious tone: "Lord, please sit down, how can we talk while standing?"
He hesitated for a moment, but still didn't say anything and walked over to sit down on the opposite side of the round table.
"What was I going to say?" I smiled and poured him a cup of tea, but the good point in my arms suddenly let out a loud "hiss" at him, its cry full of vigilance.
You also know he's not a good person, right. I thought to myself, and with my left hand, I patted the good spot in my arms, signaling it to be quiet, but it suddenly jumped out and slipped away to the outer room.
Jin Niang and Ruo Wei went out and closed the door, I wasn't worried that Hao Dian would run away, but rather Ling Yi, who saw Hao Dian running out and asked for the second time: "Where did this cat come from?"
I grew somewhat displeased and said coldly: "You didn't come here to discuss cats, did you?"
He looked at me with a serious expression and said solemnly: "Send the cat away, this garden can't raise cats."
"Why?" I glared at him.
He hesitated for a moment, then looked up at me and said: "If you really like this cat, I'll choose another garden and arrange for someone to feed it."
How strange! I looked at him in puzzlement. Why can't this place accommodate a single cat? He actually wants to make a big fuss and arrange another better place for it to live?
"Tell me why?" I glared at him, determined to get a clear explanation for everything before letting it go.
He pressed his lips together and looked at me for a long time, finally speaking out the truth in a measured tone: "You need to go out with me this one trip, and when we get back, I'll arrange another place for you to live."
"Where am I going?" I asked without thinking.
Ling Yi looked at me seriously, her lips moving slightly, "Go to the capital of Fengming State - Mouli."
