“RAAAWWWWRRR”

  [BOSS BATTLE BEGIN – DEFEAT THE MIGHTY KOMODO]

  A growl so loud that it shattered nearby stone pilrs and wobbled the rock above them echoed throughout the cavern. Instantly, the dragon raised up with its belly sagging underneath it, covered in blood. Nova felt sickened at the sight and the foul smell that came from the gash.

  It was so strong that it made the brunette’s eyes water and he hurried to take out his sword. Lottie was also moving fast, jumping back as the dragon blindly moved its tail in her direction. It was long and covered in bumps that resembled spikes that came right at her legs.

  Thankfully, it missed as it became blinded in the storm of agony that protruded its brain. The dragon was having a tantrum from being hit with the bolt and Lottie wasn't done yet. The girl darted like crazy as she let out two more bolts from her crossbow right at its scaly side.

  One of the bolts hit and the dragon roared in pain in response. It moved its leg and stomped its foot against the ground, throwing coins into the air and cracking the earth beneath their feet. This caused her third bolt to miss as it moved around wildly, throwing another fit.

  Nova felt one of the coins hit his face and he winced from how hard the hit was. The gold left a bruise on his face leaving his skin tender as he tried to figure out what to do. He could tell that if they left the beast in an advantage by having its mighty tail they would lose.

  That tail was strong and could easily sweep them off the ground into the air. Its feet were also a problem as every stomp it made the fat dragon caused cracks to form and the ground to shake. Nova feared that if the komodo dragon stomped hard enough there'd be a colpse.

  Lottie felt the same as she turned towards him and yelled. “Take out its legs and I'll take out its weak spot!” Before he could respond she moved out of the way as the dragon swung wildly in her direction.

  Nova grabbed his sword and took off running. It was hard to move efficiently as the ground was covered in the dragon’s hoard. The teenager walked on gems of various sizes and they caused him to slip a few times as he ran.

  But he managed to keep his bance as he came close to the dragon and swung his sword right at its trunk of a leg. The sword scraped against the tough skin, with the dragon being tougher than leather in its composition.

  Still, Nova’s sword was strong enough to do more than cut the beast as it brought forth blood. The bde plunged into the flesh of the creature and he struggled to move the bde further into its body.

  Its flesh was just as durable as its skin. The lizard noticed the brunette and opened its mouth. Nova’s eyes grew wide as he felt the oxygen in the room rapidly be sucked out.

  He felt dizzy and became light headed but saw the fmes developing in the mouth of the beast. His body moved on instinct even as he felt close to passing out, his bde leaving to reveal a shower of blood.

  The teenager rolled away just in time for the dragon to let out a stream of fire. The fmes were hot enough to melt the coins that served as its bed.

  If he had stayed there he would have been turned into ash and his sword would be melted into a silver puddle. He thanked God for his behind being saved and thought of a new pn.

  He could see that his bde had done a decent job of injuring the dragon as it was bleeding quite a bit. Blood was spraying out of the massive gash he made and his bde had a mix of flesh on it.

  It smelled awful and made his stomach turn but he had to do more. Nova waited as the dragon burned its nest and screeched in pain.

  Lottie was already moving however, reloading her crossbow and aiming it at the twisting beast. The dual-toned girl's arm was steady as she attacked the lizard without any hesitation.

  Her eyes were stone cold and she stood tall as the bolts went off like bullets leaving a gun. The bolts flew and the komodo dragon screamed fmes as it was hit.

  “Holy shit!” Nova yelled as he watched a bolt obliterate the dragon's beautiful left eye and turn it into a pulpy mess. “You got it, Lottie!”

  She looked at him and winked. “Maybe I'll kill this and get a nice dragonhide to bring to the dressmaker ter this week.” Her crossbow let off another sharp bolt before she moved to reload it once again.

  This crossbow missed but that didn't matter as the loss of the dragon's eyes was a big win for them. The lizard was spraying fmes around blindly as what was its eye dripped down its face.

  The goop was a mess of blood and scales that made Nova want to puke at the sight of. The mighty beast roared and shot fmes but it always missed Lottie.

  “It's so hot.” Lottie muttered as the fmes flew past her and bounced off of the stone wall. She was sweating but wasn't even phased a bit.

  The heat was becoming unbearable though. The dragon seemed to resort to spraying fire at every corner of the cavern in an attempt to create a barrier around itself.

  This was making it hard for them to fight back as Nova couldn't run into a ball of fire with his sword. Lottie was the only one that could take the bastard down easily.

  “I can't use this due to the fire so you're going to have to take it down with your crossbow. How many bolts do you have left?” Nova told his partner who was already letting off more bolts as the dragon raged.

  The lizard was hefty and angry, with each stomp creating massive cracks in the ground. Nova watched as the jewels under them turned into dust and the coins melted into a puddle of goo with wide eyes.

  His heart was beating like crazy like a ticking time bomb in his chest as he waited for the lizard to finally go down. His mind was crazy.

  The dragon roared with spit spraying out and hitting their faces.

  He grimaced in disgust and wiped at his face as Lottie fired. The bolt went into the open mouth as the dragon prepared to roar again and it let out a high pitched whine. The pitiful whine was one of immense pain as it tried to find the girl and end her in its fit of madness.

  Watching the creature die was hard even if he knew this was all a video game. It wasn't pixels just vanishing into the air at first but the lizard falling to the ground in a huge dispy of emotion. Blood was everywhere from both of their attacks and its gross saliva was too.

  To make matters worse there was rubble and goo from its fire sprays.

  The rubble was everywhere and Nova was wary of moving too much as they might be buried by a shower of rocks.

  But, he had to get the prize they came here for so the teenager bravely walked forward. He watched as the dragon struggled to breathe as it id on the ground and gurgled out what was in its stomach. It was a total mess as it died.

  A rge status screen appeared in the air and the dragon melted into thin air as an announcement was broadcast. Both teens recognized it from past boss battles they had participated in.

  The game's system was rewarding them for succeeding and was ready to give them their prize. Something floated up from the ground, masked by bright light.

  He saw it was the armor that they had come for and sighed in relief. The system was nice enough to give it to them automatically instead of having them search for it.

  This was a relief as the cavern felt like a death trap and Nova wanted to leave as soon as he possibly could. He watched as the armor vanished and a new announcement came.

  “Ooo! I'm going to use that dragon cw to get the bcksmith to make me a new bde. What do you think?” Lottie said with glee as she put her weapon away and wiped the slobber off of her face.

  He felt it was right that the system rewarded her more than him. She had done more work and had been a bad ass as usual. Nova kept his sword out as the two left the cavern and entered the now empty cave.

  “Why don't we go get it done now? I have some more free time before I have to log out and make dinner.” He wanted to spend more time away from his current family drama in the real world.

  She twirled the cw between her fingers as she spoke. “Hell Yeah! Let's go!” The cw glowed as they left the cave into the valley.
