Chapter 3: Not Gandalf, Dreg

Terra opened his eyes only to be blinded by rays of light coming from the window. "So you're awake?" came a voice from the darkness of the cabin he seemed to be in. Terra looked towards the direction to see the one and only Gandalf appear from said darkness.

"Sorry lad I gave you a good one" laughed Gandalf

Terra nodded his head to feel a sharp pain from the back of his skull. He ran a hand to the back and found a well sized bump.

  "Hey Gandalf?"

"Gandalf?, who is that my name is Dreg"

"Well Dreg where am I" Terra finally got a good look at his surroundings. He seemed to be in a wooden cabin with ample furniture for one person. A single fire pit rested in the middle while there seemed to only be two windows. The sound of the forest ran about with the tweeting of birds and the rustle of the leaves.

Terra scrutinized Dreg as well. Dreg wore a gray cloak with leather armor peaking out from the inside. His staff made of a light brown wood and his pointy gray hat which stretched into a wisp.

"You are in my house, in the Lost woods." Replied Dreg.

"Why do they call it the Lost woods?" Asked Terra.

"Because they say that the spirits never rest here. They live on in their grief guiding wayward souls to their doom." Dreg said grimly as his eyes darkened.

"Then how could you live in a place like this?"

"Its just legends and stories in the mist boy"

"My name's not boy, its Terra" Terra got up and began to walk out the door when he felt a hand grab his wrist. He turned around to see the outstretched hand belong to Dreg. "Its best not to go out when its dark Terra. Wait till the morning." Terra looked outside to see the sun was indeed setting in the distance. He gave a light shrug as a reply and sat bag down and drifted back into sleep by the warm fire.

Dreg looked down at the sleeping person. He opened his palm and pointed it at the sleeping Terra. Light began to shine out of his palm as Dreg began to concentrate on the spell. The spell Dreg was using was a spell designed to determine what affinity a person has. I see muttered Dreg, he could be the one, but he's too weak....Lotherion......He could be the one.

Terra woke up once again to see Dreg looking down upon him. He got up and let out a hearty yawn before looking to Dreg.

  "Good Morning?"

"Indeed. Terra I need your help."

Terra looked at the window and nodded his head.

"You'll need this" Dreg said as he handed him a worn down axe.

Terra went outside and took in the sounds of the forests before walking towards the nearest tree and giving it a hard swing. After an hour of swinging at the tree Terra heard a ping as a window blocked his vision. He took a break to eat some of the rye bread given to him and water before looking at the window that popped up.

??? So leveling up isn't the only way too gain stats in this game. Looking at this Terra began to swing at the tree some more and more.

  .....

When Terra finally reached the middle of the tree he heard a creak and a crack before looking up to see the tree leaning...more like FALLING!!! Terra ran as fast as he could away from the tree as it came down he didn't forget to yell "TIMBER!!!".

Terra closed the window and began the work of cutting the fallen lumber into 10 sections. After he was done he went back to Dreg who was sitting conveniently outside blowing smoke rings with his pipe.

"Dreg I finished cutting the wood."

  "Good job"

"Now let me see your stat window Terra."

Terra raised an eyebrow at this but showed him his stats.

Dreg looked at the stats and nodded then looked at Terra.

  "I think your ready."

Terra was left speechless as questions floated in his head. He could not answer back as Dreg got up and told him to come into the cabin. He lead them to the place where they slept and lifted up the bed Terra slept own to see a trapdoor. Dreg pulled it up revealing a ladder down a shaft.

"Down there is a dungeon. I kept my food supplies for the winter here until the spiders came and claimed it for their own. Go clean it up of the spiders that infest it."

"You might also need these" Said Dreg as he gave him a set of armor and a sword.

Terra equipped all of the things Dreg gave him and went towards the shaft and began to descend.

Halfway down he heard the echo of Dreg's voice saying good luck to him. Or was it my condolences?

Author Note: Chapter 4 is being down as we speak but my break is up so it might take longer than whatever is usual to release it. This chapter was difficult in the fact that there are so many tables of codings I did. New found respect for other Authors who experience the same thing.
