It's a good thing this heavy Dahl mining suit has solid hearing protection, otherwise my ears would surely be ringing in pain right about now.
Unconcerned with the ringing gunshots because of my mining suit's hearing protection, I held the triggers firmly and id into the approaching swarm of rva crab worms doing my best to keep my streams of bullets on target, all while taking steps back to maintain the quote unquote safe distance I had between me and them.
As I continued ying down retively accurate fire with my dual machine guns, the rounds I was sending forth kept impacting their deep purple armored exoskeletons. However, I would occasionally connect a shot with their sole weak point and take one out of the fight for good.
Watching them drop slowly but surely, I acknowledged I was making a dent in their plentiful numbers, so I continued my efforts and kept my comfortable distance away from the purple creatures to avoid putting myself in range of their vile acid attacks and in case I needed to make a tactical retreat.
…
The longer my battle with them raged on, the more comfortable I became with dual wielding these two hefty weapons of mine as a whole and especially firing them in automatically, and before long, my storm of fire began to take its toll on their frontline with literal dozens of them filled with holes and ying dead in pools of blood that were rapidly increasing in size.
With the bugs becoming impeded further and further with each new death, I took advantage of the window I had made for myself and took even more distance and started swapping out my nearly depleted box magazines for fully loaded ones.
It took well over a dozen seconds because of my inexperience, but I nevertheless powered through it and got the job done. Turning my attention to the crab worms, I found eight of them had managed to crawl over their compatriots' corpses and were rushing towards me, intent on ripping me apart and devouring my corpse should they win the battle.
Obviously wanting to avoid that from happening, I ran back some and put a bit of space between them and I. As soon as I had returned the gap to what it once was; I performed a 180 and resumed the sughter and began dropping them like flies one after the next.
...
I was relentless with my bursts of fully automatic fire and after expending several hundred rounds and fighting it out with them for the st however many minutes; I put the st survivor down with a brutal and visceral stab to its singur eye. Still weary of the possibility of more of these buggers jumping out of nowhere, I ripped my hardened metal combat knife from its head, deposited it into its sheath, and quickly began scanning the tunnels' walls and depths searching for any possible threats with my helm's dual lights.
Looks like the coast is clear... for now.
Relieved to catch a breather and give my weapons a chance to cool, I was about to check the gains I earned from that bout of combat when I suddenly felt as if I was being watched. Clearly feeling disturbed by the predatory sensation, I raised my Ats pearl havoc machine gun and scanned the area once more with the increased lighting provided by my primary weapon. However, before I could really begin scanning, something rammed into my side and sunk its teeth into my suit.
Not possessing a single second to even think about what was trying to kill me, I performed the fastest action I could and started ruthlessly pummeling the creature that was biting onto my side and madly shaking its head and trying damndest to rip a piece out of me with my armor cd fists. A few strikes with my overbearing strength was all it took for whatever sneak attacked me to relinquish its hold. The instant I got the still unknown entity off of me, I kicked where I presumed the creature to be and sent it cascading into the rock wall.
Hearing the creature cry out in what I thought to be pain, I hoisted my weapon up and aimed it in the direction of my attacker. What I found lying against the wall was a unique nearly 100% bck adult skag with a partially caved in skull. Getting a solid look at the beast, I confirmed my attacker was indeed Pandora's native alien canine species.
So it was one of you fuckers, aye.
Having identified who was gnawing on me, I approached the injured three jawed canine covered in strong bony armor ptes who was still withering in pain from my heavy-handed strikes and whipped out my S&S Munitions explosive machine pistol and fired a well pced controlled burst into its head, literally obliterating its skull and a rger portion of its neck. With my attacker ruthlessly dispatched, I restarted my scanning of the tunnel in search of pitch dark skags that were as bck as night, but found nothing in the way of hostiles after searching for a few dozen seconds.
Hopefully now I can take a breather.
I thought as I stared into the darkness that led into the depths of this mine for a few seconds longer before I began inspecting my suit to see if that skag had done any damage to it when it had its mouth full of sharp teeth tched onto me.
Phew, there doesn't appear to be any real damage… But now that I'm thinking of it, I guess that's not a surprise seeing how it wasn't able to breach my shields.
Assured that my full suit of armor hadn't been compromised, I checked the rest of my gear whilst I calmed my breathing that had been quickened from the adrenaline I had coursing through me on top of the small amount of running around I'd been doing. Completing that equipment check in no time at all, I rapidly reloaded my magazines whilst keeping an eye on my surroundings. The minute I had everything filled back up, I began thinking about my next move.
Alright, I got all my weapons and magazines topped up. Now do I want to keep going as I am or keep accumuting levels and badass tokens... I haven't had much difficulty with the wildlife I've encountered up to this point, so I could just stock up. However, I got no clue what I'll encounter the further I explore this pce, thus it would be in my best interest to increase my power levels so I can more easily handle the surprises that may or may not come my way in these tunnels.
[ Level Up! ][ +3 Skill Points ][ +2,060 EXP ][ +206 Badass Tokens ]
Holy, I went up three whole levels from that one battle.
Over the moon about the rapid progress I was making, I went right to spending my skill points and maxed out | Hard to Kill | increasing the benefits it provides to +20% maximum health and health regeneration to 0.5% of max health per second. The moment I maxed out that skill, I gained access to the tier 2 skills in the brawn skill tree.

| Incite | (0/5)Taking damage gives +6% Movement Speed and +5% Reload Speed for a few seconds.
| I'm the Juggernaut | (0/5)Kill Skill. Killing an enemy gives you a +4% Damage Reduction for a short time.
| ... |
The Asbestos skill is one I never take in the game, so I'll skip over that one since it's not all that useful other than when I am facing opponents that deal a shit load of elemental damage. I'm the Juggernaut on the other hand would increase my tankiness by a decent bit anytime I'm in combat.
But as great as that sounds, I'm not really in need of increased toughness given I have this armored full bodied suit of mine. Hence, I would be better off throwing my st skill point into Incite, which could get me out of a pickle if I need to quickly reload, or move out of the way, or both.
Hmm, that's got me thinking. I wonder if I can abuse it by applying a small amount of damage to myself at all times. Having a constant movement and reload speed boost active at all times would be pretty sweet not gonna lie. I'll have to see if I can't come up with some sort of method that can be easily as well as safely implemented once I leave this shithole for a safer, more permanent shithole on Pandora.
