Chapter 6-Absorbing Elemental Spirits

Me and Alice went into the treasury. Within the treasury there were many crystal boxes which Adam didn't have enough time to open and absorb the Earth spirits inside them.

I picked up one of the crystal boxes from a shelf. From the pocket of my black robe I took out a small black key which the Elder gave us. This key was used to open the crystal boxes.

As I inserted the key into the lock and slowly opened the box I could see the Earth, Water and Storm spirits inside. I extended my right hand and grabbed the Storm spirit.

I commanded Will to absorb it. Will went outside of my core and then left my body. He floated in the air for a little bit, as if assessing his surroundings, before lunging towards the Storm spirit in my hand.

Will and the Strom spirit were both spinning spheres of air and so when they collided I could feel a slight breeze on my skin which was formed by their clash.

Will overpowered the Storm spirit and absorbed it. He then went back inside of my body and then into my core where he sent out a bit of the absorbed energy into my body which increased my physical capabilities by a small margin.

This was how cultivators and spirits got stronger. The spirit would absorb others and then keep a bit of that energy within themselves while releasing some of it into the cultivator's body which strengthened it.

A spirit could naturally recover elemental energy at a slow pace. By absorbing another spirit they strengthen themselves which increases their threshold of energy and the speed at which they regenerate energy.

I closed and locked the box before finding a new one, unlocking it, opening it and absorbing the Storm spirit. The Elder allowed both me and Alice to absorb 7 spirits of our respective element.

As I absorbed the Storm spirit I could feel my power, speed, reaction time and overall elemental capabilities increased.

In order for a Tier 1 cultivator to advance to a Tier 2 cultivator he had to absorb around 20 spirits of his respective element. In order for a Tier 2 to advance to a Tier 3 they had to absorb 100 spirits of their respective element. The strongest Tier 2 cultivator currently in the Moon Flower Sect had absorbed around 70 spirits. His name was Alexander Fatestar who was the father of Adam Fatestar. He was a Earth Core Cultivator. It has been proven that he has had no connection to Adam's scheme but in order to not take any risks the Elder didn't employ Alexander in the hunt for Adam. This was because he though that Alexander might let Adam escape if he encountered him in the Frontier because he Adam was his son.

While I was busy absorbing the Storm spirits I couldn't help but glance at Alice a few times.

Her black hair seemed to blend in with the unilluminated treasury. Her grey eyes looked sharp, like those of an eagle, but they still carried a sense of humanity within them.

After both of us finished absorbing 7 spirits we went outside of the treasury. Suddenly Alice turned to me and spoke.

"I want to try out my new capabilities. Do you want to have a dual with me on the battleground outside?" she asked.

I though about it for a moment and agreed. We went out to the battlegrounds and made some distance between us.

Then we both got into combative stances and became focused.

I attacked first. Running to her left which would cause her a little bit of trouble because she was right handed.

I formed a sphere of wind, around the size of an apple, and shoot it towards her.

The sphere was aimed at her head but she easily dodged it and the sphere went flying past her.

I then went in close and started throwing a barrage of punches at her.

I started with a right jab which she avoided by moving to her left side.

I then continued with a left hook which she had to dodge by lowering her entire body.

Then from that low angle she put her two open palms together and started redirecting energy from her spirit into them.

Suddenly a beam of pressurized water was expelled from between her palms and was aimed towards my face. I leaned backwards so that it wouldn't hit me.

At the same time I kicked upwards with my right leg. Hitting her palms and interrupting her attack. However she formed small ball of water in her right hand which she threw at the ground. This made the ground slippery and due to the difficulty of balancing my entire body on one leg while on such wet terrain I started falling to the ground.

I turned my body to the left and and touched the ground with my left arm. While this happened Alice once again put her palms together and was about to fire off another beam of water.

But suddenly she felt something hit her back, disrupting her balance and preventing her from attacking.

This was the sphere of wind that I threw at her earlier. More specifically it was one of the two spheres I threw at her. What I threw may have looked like one sphere but inside of it was actually a smaller sphere.

When I shoot it out my target wasn't Alice. It was the wall that surrounded the entire battleground which was locater right behind her. Once it hit the wall the larger outside sphere burst but the smaller inner sphere was sent flying back due to the force of the larger sphere bursting.

In order to make sure that it would hit Alice I had to keep her in place which is why I moved in close, in order to prevent her from changing her location, and I also didn't use many elemental attacks because creating the sphere within a sphere consumed a lot more energy then normal which was another reason why I moved in close.

Now it was time for a counter attack!
