Chapter 61: Cross Party

Following the Alpha's orders, the Howlers picked their opponent and began attacking furiously.

Saving his Ki for unpredicted situations, Kenji engaged in one-on-one combat with the Howlers.

Zhen, with the blessing of his gift [Fast], moved untouchably amongst the pack of the Howlers and killed them with every move.

On the other hand, Anon was engaged in a brawl with the Alpha.

Anon's [Iron] gift made it hard for the Alpha to do any real damage, while Anon's attacks weren't powerful enough to do any harm to the Alpha, causing them both to come to a standstill.

“Good work, Anon. Hold it off for a while longer.” Just as Anon was about to ask for help, Zhen's voice sounded.

“I can't, he is too strong,” Anon shouted back as the Alpha's massive claw sent him flying into a tree.

Getting up, Anon rushed back into the fight.

Currently, he couldn't afford the risk of the Alpha joining the rest of the Howlers and going after either Kenji or Joon.

  “Joon!”

“On it.” Getting orders from Zhen, Joon diverted his attention to helping Anon.

“Kenji, stop holding back. Use [Ki Blade]. We need to free our hands.”

The decision to reserve his Ki put Kenji in a desperate situation as he was currently surrounded by three Howlers, fighting for his life.

Kenji stopped holding back and used [Ki Blade] one after another.

After six [Ki Blades], Kenji’s reserves were almost dried up, but now there were six fewer Howlers in the pack.

“Good work.” After a wave of Kenji’s [Ki Blades], just seven Howlers remained, lifting a large burden off Zhen's shoulders.

“Joon, Kenji, take care of these Howlers. I will help Anon.” Bringing the Howlers’ number down to six, Zhen left the others to Kenji and Joon while he headed to help Anon with the Alpha.

“One down.” Joon was using an arrow condensed with a large amount of Ki to harass the Alpha.

When the same arrow hit a normal level-3 Howler, it instantly killed him.

With the death of another Howler, Kenji still struggled with four of them attacking him at the same time.

“Ahhhh!” As Kenji, Anon, and Zhen were engaged in an intense battle, Joon screamed out in pain.

Turning over, they found Joon lying on the ground with a transformed Howler proudly pressing him under his feet.

“Humans, how did it feel getting rid of my followers?” The moment Joon fell prey, the Alpha stopped attacking and spoke in perfect human language.

Hearing the Alpha speak, Zhen and Anon were shocked, while Kenji, who had experienced it before, wasn’t as fazed.

“Now, how should I take care of you humans? Your meat doesn’t have any Ki, so it’s useless to eat you. But Ascend Credit, now that’s another story.” The Alpha’s struggling expression changed, and he looked at Zhen and Anon as if they were already dead.

“Boss, there are five of us and only four of them. How are we going to divide the credit?”

“Right, I want one credit for my excellent performance.”

“Finally got rid of those suckers. Did they really think without advancing they could continue hanging out with us?”

“Boss, remember we still have to give one Ascend credit to the Supreme.”

To everyone's horror, the five remaining Howlers all turned out to be Elite Monsters.

“We are screwed.” Feeling the overwhelming aura that all the remaining Howlers were emitting, Zhen felt despair.

If it were one or two more Howlers, they would be able to get away if they put their backs into it.

But with six Alpha Howlers surrounding them, Zhen couldn't think of a single way to escape.

Soon after, the pack of Alphas also had Zhen, Anon, and Kenji pinned to the ground.

“Boss, let's first torture them.” Seeing the humans tremble with a look of despair on their faces, one of the Alphas seemed to enjoy it.

“You pervert! How can you enjoy something like that?” The leader of the Alpha pack was disgusted by the idea of human torture. “Leave one and kill the others.”

  “Woof!!!!!!”

Just as the Alpha Howlers were about to kill Kenji and the others, a high-pitched howl sounded across the whole region.

“Boss…” Hearing the warning, all the Alphas were terrified.

  “Run!”

“Quickly, kill the humans. We need to go.”

“Damn it, I am not staying.”

  “I don't want to die.”

  “No time, they are here!”

Just as the Alphas were about to kill Kenji and the others and run away, an arrow landed in the middle of their pack.

“A group of puppies, daring to bully humans.” As the teasing voice sounded, the fur on all the Alpha Howlers instantly stood up.

“Eun, finish them off. We still need to head back.” Getting the order, the female clothed in enchanted leather armor moved.

By the time Zhen and the others could figure out what was happening, all the Alpha Howlers were already dead.

“Eun, you're already done? At least let them transform. I like seeing the transformation.” Soon, another member of the Cross party caught up and complained.

“Sang, how many transformations do you need to see in a day? Aren't you satisfied?” Datu, the leader of the Cross party, was getting tired of Sang's obsession.

“Aside from killing monsters, what else is there to do in this world? Can't I find some entertainment?” Sang, after coming to the Ancient World, had been bored to death.

At first, hunting monsters, leveling up, and becoming stronger were all very novel and exciting.

But as time passed, Sang couldn't feel the rush anymore. Now, the only thing entertaining enough was seeing the various strange abilities of monsters and studying them.

“Eun, how are they?” Datu couldn't continue listening to Sang's gibberish and instead turned to Eun.

“Aside from that guy, the rest are fine—just in shock. Should we give a healing potion?” Eun pointed at Joon and asked.

Zhen and Anon could hear everything the members of the Cross party were saying, but they couldn't move as their bodies were in great shock.

The collective aura of six Elite Monsters was too much for their mortal bodies to bear, and they had been trembling for quite some time.

“Give him a grade 2 healing potion and use a healing touch on the others.” Datu could see that Joon's injuries weren't that deep.

Following Datu's orders, the healer of the party walked toward Kenji and the others to help them.

“T…thanks for the…help.” Before the healer could get to him, Kenji got up and respectfully bowed toward the members of the Cross party.
