Vol.5 —C:7 Ɲew skin

A heartbeat then another, as darkness took over and my consciousness faded into nothing. A heartbeat and another, then two more in a stutter. 'What... where? Huh...'I couldn't hear I couldn't see, I couldn't feel anything, but darkness and my heartbeats. I felt far away from my body almost...

"I don't mind the fractures that're forming, you know?" It wasn't Agatha's voice this voice was less tangible and more cold. "This world is slowly crumbling, but you say you're not bothered. Nothing's new. What are you here for?" Another voice said, this one even colder and deeper. "Isn't my answer obvious?" "Nothing about you is" the second voice shot back. "What a disappointment. In any case... I want the next moon eclipse to come... late."

My soul felt unmoored and my body felt distant, only to be tugged back violently with a sudden horrific pain. My skin felt like it's burning, like it was being peeled off my flesh with no mercy.

My heart raced as the pain burnt deeper and spread all over my skin, every crease every dip every tip and every flat, it all burnt like hell. For a long moment I could feel nothing but the stream of agonizing pain as if I was bathing in a lake of boiling water.

Then the pain changed and the burning sensation replaced by the feeling of thousands of short needles piercing my flesh.

What was pain replaced by something unnatural, a sensation I couldn't understand. And with each second I feel even more tied to my body, I feel almost being pushed down as if being suffocated in some tight wrap.

A heartbeat and another then another, as I slowly opened my eyes to blinding light.

A heart beat as my eyes adjusted to the light and I began shift slightly on the grass, the shadow of a tall tree was on my face. 'I'm... alive? God... is this the third time this shit happened??' I thought.Slowly I began to push myself to my feet, standing up on weak legs.

This narrative has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. If you see it on Amazon, please report it.

"How does your new skin feels?" Agatha spoke calmly, her voice almost a breeze.

"So it was all a plan or something?" My voice was a little hoarse and harsh. I flexed my fingers feeling with my new skin and the sensation is... alien, to say the least. But I wasn't in the mood to explore new worlds.

"Yeah. But I got you free, didn't I?" She said with all seriousness. "And I got you another toy... that's not bad."

I sighed. "Do you have any idea...!" My voice rising with frustration before I cut my words off. With a shrug I began looking around again. "The lake. Where is it now?" "Forward... it's always forward." I looked at my hand. "Huh?... nevermind."

The sun was getting closer to the horizon or rather, closer to the mountains casting long shadows across the world. "Mountains..." I murmured before stepping forward.

Taking a few steps through the woods, I stopped again and glanced at my hands and legs again but this time for longer and more intently. To my surprise there was no blood, my hands were fine and my feet were too, a weird site. I turned my hand over examining my skin more closely, I didn't just get healed but more than that my skin is... gray?

"It's divine skin." Agatha spoke.I sighed and then I let down my hands. "Another divine piece of shit ton of pain is what this is. What typa Exodian shi—" I shrugged with another sigh.

It's unfortunate but I'm getting used to this absurdities that I am going through, and it's almost scary.

'Scary... brings back memories.' I thought as I moved deeper into the woods, and a thought chose to intrude into my head. "You're a ghost you know much about ghosts, no?" I calmly said as I stepped over a root. "You're going somewhere with this?" She replied. "Well... I've once been inside a place called Limbo's Ambiance. It was weird... even time and space didn't make sense there. How is that possible?" I asked.

She was silent for a long moment as I was finally in the shadow of the mountain.

"Limbo in and of itself is an abstract world... things don't exist there, only concepts and souls do. When something so barren seeps into the world... space and and time become less meaningful." Her voice sounded calm but it was less calm and more just grim and low.

I stopped for a second before I resumed walking as the world got just a little darker. "And... we're going back to go through it... my luck is bellow the ground it seems."
