CHP 161: A PSYCHOPATHIC FRIEND

Leaning on a black wall of a house was Seer, his white attire making him stand out like a sore thumb.

He had an arm crossed while tossing his Coin-shaped disc with the other.

Jin didn't know when a helpless sigh escaped him.

Ignoring Seer, he walked past him.

With a measured ease, Seer stepped beside him, glancing at him a bit too often.

He looked like he wanted to ask a question but was deciding whether to or not.

  Jin Yu outright ignored him.

Finally, Seer couldn't keep quiet any longer. "I never expected one of the Star to be with you."

  Jin Yu steps faltered.

He didn't know when he asked. "Star?, The ones you saw earlier?"

Seer bobbed his head. "Yes. Who is he to you?"

  He asked quite curiously.

Jin Yu gave him a suspicious stare.

  "None of your business."

Seer gave him a fleeting, unfriendly glance.

"I won't eat him." He almost rolled his eyes.

"Who knows." Jin Yu returned the favor: an even more suspicious look.

"Since he is with you, I won't force him, but the other two stars...." He trailed off, his eyes glinting mischievously.

  Jin Yu brow furrowed.

"Force?, Have you been planning something?"

"Who knows" Seer gave a vague, nonchalant answer.

Jin Yu glared at him, trying to shoot daggers from his eyes.

Suddenly, he grabbed Seer by the arm and turned him to face him.

He pointed a finger to his masked face and spoke warningly.

"Not just him, but every single person related to me, blood or water, you are not allowed to touch them, not even a strand of hair, understood?"

Seer stared at with a daring expression.

  "And if I do?"

Unconsciously, Jin Yu's hand tightened on Seer's arm.

He didn't reply, but the way his eyes turned darker spoke volumes.

Seer gave an helpless sigh, and flickered Jin Yu's forehead.

"You are silly, Son Of Wei."

  Jin Yu frowned in reply.

Unauthorized duplication: this narrative has been taken without consent. Report sightings.

  "What does tha-"

"You can't tell friend from Foe, it's annoying."

  Seer said, a little angry.

Jin Yu almost laughed in mockery.

  "Friend from Foe?"

Truthfully, he didn't consider Seer an enemy, but he also wasn't normal enough to be trusted with his family.

Seer acts just like a two-faced person, that Jin Yu didn't know what to believe.

Is it his warm, innocent smile?, or his cold, chilling self that is very unpredictable?.

  Which is the real Seer?.

  Jin Yu couldn't tell.

"To me..." Jin Yu began. "... you are like a psychopathic Friend, a ticking time bomb at that. I can risk myself being with you Seer, but my family?, I can't trust you with them, so just do me a favor and stay away. Okay?"

Slowly, the glint in Seer's eyes dimmed.

He instantly lowered his eyes, trying to hide his emotions.

His pale fingers clenched, His breath turned a bit heavy, as if something was blocking his throat.

"This...is the second time." He said in a quiet, weary voice.

Jin Yu watched him quietly, his heart feeling itchy, he didn't know why, but the way Seer lowered his eyes, the way his voice cracked slightly, it all made his heart heavy.

  Was I too harsh?

  He wondered.

Slowly, Seer pulled Jin Yu hand holding him away.

"Okay." He said, still quietly, and turned away.

In that brief moment, his eyes flickered up and Jin Yu's heart ached.

Seer didn't need to say more, Jin Yu already understood.

This is indeed the second time. The second time I have seen such...pain in his eyes.

  And both...was caused by me.

Jin Yu stared at Seer's retreating figure and his heart ached even more. He looked at his own chest.

Why am I feeling like this?

He asked himself but has no answer.

When he raised his head, Seer was gone.

Jin Yu looked at the empty street, his eyes a bit distant. His lips moved.

"I.. am..." His mouth felt heavy, he couldn't even say it.

He closed his eyes and took a deep, heavy breath.

With a pat of his chest, he consoled himself. "I have things to do, I should focus on it now."

He went towards the dome-shaped building.

  --------

Haozi ran at a speed he had never before, hurrying towards the spaceport that Jin Yu had drawn on the map.

This is a mission I must never fail, I can't disappoint brother Yu.

That was his thoughts as he dashed towards the port now in the distance.

A distinct group of men came into view, sat atop sturdy horses rippling with strength.

At the very front was a Young Man of commanding presence, and a little girl dressed like a witch.

Fortunately for Haozi, he recognized Chen Haoran, even if he didn't, the dominating aura, the emblem, the troops, was something he had seen almost his life, how could he not recognize them?.

He had seen them and what was left is to deliver the message, but there is a problem.

The men had already took a powerful sprint, racing towards the City Lord's house.

Haozi desperately wanted to stop them, but didn't dare stay in their path, because those who dared, had been lost in the river of history, as such action is considered a challenge in the Jin law.

Known for always getting revenge, the Jin army will stop at nothing to make life miserable for such person.

  What do I do?.

Haozi became fidgety, the thought of failing the mission weighing down on his heart.

On one hand, he didn't want to fail his brother, on the other, there is the inviolable law stopping him.

  What do I do?

He asked himself again, feeling really uneasy.

The troop is now some meters away from his position, thundering closer with their beastial stallions, if he didn't stop them now, he wouldn't be able to catch up again.

Haozi took out the jade slip from his chest pocket and stared at it.

It only took a look for him to harden his resolve.

Since a Jin made the law, then a Jin can bend it.

He thought, and without hesitation, stepped in their path. Reached into his sleeve, he drew out a folded, white cloth.

Despite seeing someone in their path, the squad didn't slow down at all, they got even faster, threatening to trample him to death.

Haozi's heart thudded heavily in his chest as killing Intents came crashing into him in waves.

Thud, thud, thud, thud, thud, thud, thud, thud, thud

The closer the squad, the more Haozi felt like a mountain was pressing down on him, weighing down on his Soul, and threatening to shatter his mind, the sound of the hoofbeats rang out too loudly in his ears, thus, rendering him immobile.

Up ahead, a smirk formed on Chen Haoran's lips and a sword appeared in his hand.

Chen Haoran suddenly moved faster, his stallions dashing forward with a burst of energy, dust rose up in clouds as he left the others far behind.

He raised his sword high, aiming for Haozi's neck.

  He closed dangerously in,

  One meter....two meters....three meters....

Yet, Haozi stood rooted in the spot, frozen in dread.

Just a moment before the sword fall and the stallion trample him to death.

  NEEEEEEEIIIGGHHH!

The horse cried loudly to the sky, it's hoofs raised very high, mane whipping back and forth like a whip.

Chen Haoran was almost thrown off it's back, but held the reigns tightly and steadied himself, the sword in his other hand still raised high.

Shock filled his eyes as he stared at the frozen horse that didn't dare lowered his legs, whether in fear or deference was unknown.

His gaze lowered to the young man still frozen underneath the spirit beast, and that was when he saw what frightened the beast so much.

A folded white cloth lay tucked in Haozi's hand.

The cloth itself wasn't the real deal, but the faint, visible black-Gold token inside it.

Chen Haoran was even more shocked that he didn't know when he annulled his Soul attack.

The same moment, Haozi snapped back to focus and raised his hand high.

A black token appeared in it, instantly, a dreadful, ancient aura swept through the air like a tide.

It was cold. Noble and Divine.

A small etching of a dragon and sunburst glinted on the token.

  The Jin Family token.

  NEEEEEEEIIIGGHHH!

The other horses in the back neighed loudly in fright before coming to a halt.

They bowed their head low in submission.

The Jin brothers also lowered their heads.

Only one horse had his head raised, still frozen in the air.
