Monster Taming Class ( Part 1 )

  Hizashi No Kage

  Chapter - 13

Leona ma'am was in charge of the monster taming class. She first called a second-year student and with the help of his demonstration, explained the rules of taming and so on.

She also told them that this class was scheduled at the end of the semester so that all students could build a deep bond with their familiar during the holidays.

It is extremely important that your familiar is not your slave—you must not force it in any way. The very meaning of the word "familiar" is that you treat it like your own family.

After everyone understood everything, ma'am took all the students into an A+ rank dungeon.

This dungeon was famous because it contained the most powerful monsters. It was the strongest dungeon in the city of Elfo.

Once again, everyone was reminded that if anyone died, the academy would not be held responsible.

Although this dungeon had only 10 floors, each floor was so vast and dangerous that Leona ma'am had to give special instructions: no student was to go below floor 5.

All the students entered the dungeon; ma'am stayed outside.

Each student was given one Talisman, meaning everyone had only a single chance for taming.

Akash wanted to see just how powerful he had become. He first used his Light Radar skill. He was stunned himself because he had never sensed things with such precision—and on such a massive scale. He began moving forward in search of a good monster.

Manjula and Zavier went together up to floor 7, but then separated. Floor seven was infested with fire monsters. Zavier wanted one of those, so he stayed there.

Manjula went deeper—floor 8, floor 9. Her plan was to stop at floor nine; there was no reason to risk her life by going to floor 10 unnecessarily. But when her Shadow Search skill sensed the presence of a dragon on floor 10, she could no longer hold herself back. The mere thought of a dragon becoming her familiar made her thrilled with excitement.

Akash was advancing cautiously. He was still on floor six, wondering whether to go deeper or not. Suddenly, he sensed an overwhelmingly powerful energy. He focused all his strength into Light Radar to locate its source. Then he saw it—someone had opened the boss room on floor 10. It was a girl, and inside the room was an extremely powerful monster—a dragon???!!!!!

It didn’t take him long to realize who that girl could be.

Manjula had already entered the boss room. The room was so enormous that the dragon was nowhere to be seen. Even the ceiling was invisible. Darkness enveloped everything.

If Manjula hadn’t possessed skills like Night Vision and High Sensitivity, she wouldn’t have seen the dragon’s attack coming from above. She dodged it and immediately created distance from the dragon.

Now Manjula and the dragon stood face to face. She saw that it was an aged dragon and of the wind type. This excited her even more.

“Are you insane, girl? Smiling in front of a dragon?” the dragon roared.

  (Extra information:

Only a very few monsters can speak human language. Dragons are one of them, and it’s worth noting that dragons are called the King of Monsters.)

“My name is Manjula Windheart, and today I’m going to make you my pet,” Manjula said fearlessly.

“Windheart…” Hearing that word, the dragon froze for a moment. Then, after thinking, it said, “You have imprisoned one of my brothers. You devil Windheart!!! I, Hameel Jaro, will kill you and take revenge for my brother’s enslavement.”

Manjula understood that Hameel was talking about his brother Kameel Jaro, who was the king’s familiar.

But she decided it wasn’t wise to keep talking and started the fight.

Hameel charged at her with full force—Dragon Tackle.

But in the next instant, Manjula bound him with Shadow Bindings.

Hameel was stunned. The power to bind a dragon! But then he spread his wings, broke the bindings, and flew up. From a great height, Hameel opened his mouth and began hurling wind storms at Manjula.

Manjula instantly vanished into the shadows—using Hide in the Shadow skill. The very next moment, several deep black spears rose from the shadows spread across the ground and were launched toward Hameel at high speed. This was Manjula’s Shadow Spike skill, which she had used while hidden.

Hameel realized these spears were truly dangerous. He immediately flapped his wings hard and created a massive whirlwind. All the spears were destroyed midway.

Now Hameel didn’t give Manjula a chance to attack again. He shattered parts of the room, sent huge boulders flying into the air, and then rained them down from great height. Wherever the boulders landed, the ground cracked open.

At first, Manjula kept dodging by traveling through the shadows, but when it became impossible to hide in any shadow on the ground, she was forced to come out.

  Hameel roared again from above.

Now Manjula drew her sword. Using Shadow Sword skill, she infused magic into it.

Hameel also whipped up a storm throughout the entire boss room with his wings.

But in the next moment, deep darkness enveloped the whole room. Nothing was visible. Before Hameel could understand anything, he felt his right wing had been injured. He crashed down with a thud.

Manjula had used Darkness skill to create pitch blackness first, then aimed with Night Vision, and struck his wing.

Now Hameel couldn’t fly, but only for a short time—dragons have tremendous healing power. The wound from Manjula’s Shadow Sword would heal in 5–10 minutes. She had to defeat Hameel within that window.

Darkness skill was still active. Manjula was about to launch her next attack when Hameel’s eyes suddenly glowed, and in an instant, a wall of wind formed all around him. Manjula couldn’t cut through that wall.

Then Hameel unleashed a massive attack—a huge explosion of air that even blew off the ceiling of the room. Compressed Air Blast (CAB)—that was the name of the attack.

Light flooded into the room. The greatest weakness of shadow magic was precisely this—light.

  Darkness Skill got deactivated!

Now the pressure was on Manjula. Storm after storm was hurled at her. As soon as she tore through one, the next came crashing down. She wasn’t getting any chance to recover. Then, out of nowhere, a punch landed on her. It was Hameel who had struck.

Manjula was sent flying and crashed far away. Before she could even stand up, Hameel charged at full speed to hit her with Dragon Tackle.

Just as the tackle was about to connect, a Light Shield Dome suddenly formed around Manjula!!!!!!!
