HIT 05

"Ahem. Well, The man who took me in, apparently he had ties with the Eridanis, you see. He – He told me they sometimes hold joint training sessions between the security staff of the Eridanis and the Rowes, and they... they...-uhm oh! Heehee, I'm not really supposed to mention this, but the Eridanis have their younger generations, or some of them at least, secretly joining in those training sessions for experience. Maybe the boy who beat this...'Gravity Queen' or whatever she's called is one of those young geniuses who've been secretly training with security?"

I secretly apologized to Lisa Rowe in my mind for having the gall throw her family under the bus like this, but...! I have GOOD reasons to do it...this time.

Right now, I am hiding my identity. If they don't know about the atrocities these 10 families can commit, then all the better for me. Why change that?

I'll just play along. Though I have no reason why Mr. Abrams is laughing at my excuse. I think it's pretty clever!

"...Hmmm. IF you're words are made of genuine facts, and not bullshi-uhm I-I meaan bull poopie – then that random... 'Nathan Eridani' Whom I marked down as a nobody is probably one of those... rich, uppity kids that was given some sort of special tutoring by really famous heroes?

  *GASP*

He...H-He was a hidden tiger! Oh, my leechums! I suspected the rumors, but...! Teeheehee!

They said Savannah, that Gravity girl, barely lasted 5 minutes against him. The stuck-up Queen tried increasing gravity to 50 times! No response from him. Then she attempted 100 but lost control of her power. Gravity went out of control, and as she lost focus – Bam. He punched her in the gut. It was over by then. I had a tough time bribing them with daddy's money to hear about this."

"...Oliviera, you shouldn't...*Sigh* forget it. Stop bragging about bribing people.

At least wait until you leave my class, first."

  "Heehee, 'kay~!"

Oliviera giggled while 'secretly' pulling her phone out, doing obvious double-takes over her shoulders, before typing away at inhuman speeds.

"The coach at my regular gym, he was a veteran hero on the front lines, long ago. He always said that training in some sheltered environment against one or two of the same people won't help your skills REALLY reach the top. unless they know every fighting style in the world somehow. If that boy really has been training so hard against a powerful and battle-hardened security force, then it's not impossible for him to beat some school girl..."

"Aaah: 50 times gravity?! That's scary! How can somebody stand in a situation like that without...without becoming paste? Ahhh no – no, I don't want to know. That's too scary a thought!"

Aly pondered over this 'Nathan' fellow, and Aria trembled about the gravity mention. I suppose 50 times gravity is dangerous. With my patch in place to weaken my physique, is 100 times gravity enough to squish me? Probably, right? I kind of want to test my limits, but that sounds stupid.

"They're really expensive, but you can actually purchase these Anti-Gravity devices from-"

"*Yawns* Sorry to cut you off, Ian, but introductions are taking way too long with aall the off-topic mumblings. I'm taking over introductions.

Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.

  Everyone!

This little guy is Ian. Age 14 and a half – making him the oldest one among you."

  "YOU'RE LYING THERE'S NO WA-"

"No interruptions, Oliviera. That earns you a magically-sealed mouth. Next up- That wild haired boy over there, his name is Rise."

  "THAT'S NOT EVEN A NAME IT'S A FUCKING WORD- Mmmph~!"

  "..."

"I said no interruptions(...? How in the- did she just break free from my magic?). Alyandrea is the braided girl who dreams of becoming a Hero. If it's a mouthful just call her Aly. The tall-ish, quiet kid with Purple-hair is Brennan, the light brown and long-haired boy is Wayne. Umm, I believe that's everyone. Oh! The boy in the back who SHOULDN'T BE SLEEPING RIGHT NOW: an energetic do-gooder with short, black hair, is Li shun. He's been staying at the dorms ahead of you, due to some personal circumstances."

"Mmmmph-Pwah THAT'S ILLEGAL! HE'S SUPPOSED TO WAIT LIKE EVERYBODY ELSE! I CALL UNEQUAL TREATMEN—mmmph!!"

"It’s not illegal...probably. Our final class member is... well, his name is Leos. He'll join us at a later date. Please take it easy on him. He went through a pretty shitty ordeal recently - one I'm not at liberty to discuss."

  "Leos..."

There were many casualties in the second half of my final mission. I recall a few kids that survived, one such survivor had the same name. I memorized the entire list, so I never forget my biggest sin. Even now, I... still can't get those terrified, tortured faces out of my mind.

"You look pale, are you alright?"

"...? Ah! Yes...haha, sorry. I'm fine, I was...just remembering something that bothered me."

"Oh, okay that's GOOD 'cause I was gonna scream if you were throwing up. I can't deal with that."

  ...

After introductions we were to spend our first day classes familiarizing ourselves with the Non-Combatant department. There were a LOT of options for the final elective... it feels like they don't understand what to expect of a noncombatant. They have a basic combat course for self-defense, and there is even Search and Rescue... but it says non-combatant version beside both.

  ...

They have seperate courses for Non-Combatants? I suppose for our protection. It seems they chose most of our classes, other than the elective, after we signed up. Our first course after Morning meeting was a... unique math course.

"Today we won't go over world mathematics. That will be tomorrow. Today we focus on the application of Analysis in a hero's...and ordinary civilian's life. Pattern recognition, probabilities and how even among powers: 'min-maxing' or 'damage calc' terms have been adopted due to the genuine struggle with maintaining powers. Analyzing powers theemselves from a mathematical standpoint and applied tactics for math in the field."

For science, they seem to wish to teach us normal science and interchange that with Power science.

"Hello, non-combatant children~. You will be enlightened with the basics of Energy signatures, mutation theory, the moral ethics behind 'power serums', how these powers operate as far as we can comprehend, even the Power system, as well as the unknowns we cannot begin to comprehend just yet. This is your introductory into Applied Power Science."

The same applies to a class called "Understanding Heroes, VIllains, and how the world really works", it seems like a variant of history focused on the 'hero' aspect of education, to teach us about stuff separate from world history 1. We had that today instead of world history. It was fun, but mainly because the teacher is Mr. Abrams.

"Understanding Heroes, Villains, and how the World really works. We are a class that differs from World 'History' where students are expected to learn about the fall of the Old Nations, The founding of Spes Nova, The Ten families and their Contributions, the rise of Heroism as a profession during dark times, etc. This is a class for understanding 'Why' Villains emerge, 'How' 'Heroes' maintain order, the ethics behind 'collateral damage' and a review for case studies of moral failures throughout Spes Nova's relatively short history. Get used to seeing my face, you punks."

... Watching my classmates' faces after seeing one of the top 10 heroes teaching them basic History was honestly hilarious.

I am supposed to go to Lunch, but... I really wanted to write down this Elective first. It's hard to choose since there are countless miscellaneous courses available...but I am noticing a few strange ones mixed in. a particular one I have my eye on right now. "Practical Heroics Observation and Simulation". This is an 'elective' but I happen to know something from Boman's research into the school requirements for heroes-in-training, before I selected becoming a non-combatant: This is only an elective for Non-Combatant students. Meaning, for Hero-track students, this is a mandatory course. Furthermore, it seems teachers or training dummies will take the place of students if non-combatants choose not to apply. It should be supervised strictly by high-level teachers, like Mr. Abrams. Though, he had to split his time among that course and us, so I hear the advanced Heroics students are unhappy about that.

...I'm thinking about taking this one. If it was before, I wouldn't have wanted to, but after that Orientation I suffered through, I think I need to check things out in this school a bit. That opening wasn't from a school filled with heroes-to-be, but haughty villains in the making.

My schedule seems to be set for the first year:
