Volume 1: The Cloud Family Has a Daughter Chapter 45: Encountering Danger
It was night, in a humble civilian residence across two streets from the Yunfu, there were voices of people talking, and from the shadows on the window, it could be seen that they were a man and a woman.
"How can you still not take action?" The woman's voice, suppressing her hatred, rose low.
"Do you think I don't want to? But that dead girl doesn't leave the house, can I just rush into the general's mansion and kidnap her myself?"
The man said discontentedly, his tone full of annoyance.
"If she doesn't leave the house for a day, does that mean we can't take action for a day? How useless are you!"
"Hum, isn't your daughter in the mansion? Why don't you let her bring that dead girl out?"
"What are you talking about? If it's discovered, can Yue'er still survive?"
The two people who are in a heated debate are none other than Li Yiniang and Li Yong, who were expelled from the mansion!
After being driven out of the mansion, Li Yiniang was unwilling to return to her hometown and insisted on staying in the capital under the pretext of not trusting the two children. The Li family had no choice but to agree and settled her in this simple civilian house.
Li Yong is also here with a sense of resentment. Last time, he suffered a great loss at the hands of Mu Mu and ended up with nothing, so he blamed everything on her and couldn't swallow his anger unless he took revenge on her. He used taking care of his aunt as an excuse to stay behind.
The two of them colluded with each other, busy behind the scenes to deal with their common enemy, but unfortunately had no chance to take action. It's been several months now, and they still haven't succeeded, so the two of them couldn't help but feel anxious.
As they were discussing what to do next, a "knock knock knock" sound came from outside.
The two women were startled and exchanged a glance. Li Yiniang made a silencing gesture with her hand, walked quietly to the door, and asked, "Who is it?"
"Mother, it's me!"
Madam Li heard this and her face lit up with joy. She hastily opened the door, and it was indeed her daughter Yunyue, whom she had not seen for several days!
Mrs. Li hastily stretched her head out of the door and took a look, seeing that there was nothing improper, she let Yunyue come in.
"It's so late, how did you come? What if you met bad people?" Li Yiniang said with a hint of blame.
"It's close to the government office here, and besides, this is the capital city, where can there be so many bad people causing trouble." Yun Yue said carelessly, following Li Niang into the house.
But after Li Niang's injury improved, she let Li Yong secretly send a letter to her daughter. Yun Yue used the excuse of going for a stroll and got rid of the servants in the mansion, and came to see her several times. As a result, Yun Yue was still familiar with this place.
"Sister, brother-in-law, our chance for revenge has come!"
Yun Yue stepped inside and saw her brother-in-law was also there, so she got straight to the point and said to them.
Under the candlelight, Yunyue's mouth curled up into a sinister smile! That cheap woman not only monopolized all of Father's love but also drove Mother out of the house, and even he looked at her with different eyes! As long as that cheap woman was still around, Yunyue would never have a chance to rise again!
Li Ayi and Li Yong were overjoyed upon hearing this, and hastily asked for more information. Yunyue was very pleased with their reaction, so the three of them huddled together to discuss...
"Mother, tomorrow is the day grandmother returns to the mansion. Father has been busy with official business lately, and mother also has many things to attend to. So, I was thinking of going with my sister to meet grandmother at Anguo Temple. This way, we won't delay any matters, and it will also show that my sister is filial. Grandmother will surely be delighted. What do you think, mother?"
Yun Yue rushed to An He Yuan early in the morning and took advantage of the time before Mo Mo and others came to pay their respects, saying her own thoughts.
Tong heard this and was taken aback, but seeing Yunyue think so much for her daughter, she couldn't help but nod in agreement.
Yun Yue saw that her goal had been achieved and then chatted with Tong Shi about some other topics.
Before long, when Momo and Yun Qing came to pay their respects, Tong Shi mentioned Momo and learned that Momo didn't get along with Yun Yue. So she secretly hid the fact that Yun Yue had brought it up and only said that she was busy and had no time to go herself, letting her and Yun Yue go in her place.
Although Mo didn't like the old lady, she also didn't want her mother to be troubled. Seeing that it wasn't a difficult task and without thinking much about it, she readily agreed, treating it as a trip to enjoy the mountains and rivers.
On the second day, early in the morning, Mo and Yuen each rode a horse-drawn carriage, surrounded by more than a dozen guards, heading towards Anguo Temple in the west of the city.
After Li Yiniang was driven out of the mansion, the relationship between the two became very stiff. Moreover, Yunyue's deliberate framing not long ago made them like strangers, ignoring each other. This time, neither of them wanted to ride in the same carriage.
The horse carriage left the city in half a time and headed west. After another hour, they would arrive at Anguo Temple. Anguo Temple was located on Yuzhao Mountain, a famous mountain in Beixue Country, and it was one of the most renowned temples in the country. Many noblewomen and young ladies from the capital would choose to come here to pray for blessings and make vows. As a result, the incense at Anguo Temple was very prosperous.
Arriving at the Gu Yun Temple, Old Lady saw that it was just the two of them and seemed somewhat surprised. After hearing Yunyue's explanation, she nodded but didn't say anything, still treating MoMo with indifference while only talking to Yunyue.
Mo Mo didn't mind, after bidding farewell to Fang Zhang, she saw Old Lady and Yun Yue getting on the horse carriage in front, so she casually got on the one they came with.
The carriage went back as smoothly as it came, but just after leaving the border of Xiuzhu Mountain, the carriage suddenly stopped with a jolt. All that could be heard was the chaotic noise and the shrill cries of the maids outside.
"Big, big miss, we've encountered mountain bandits!"
Bandits? Meng Meng was shocked: This is under the emperor's feet, which bandit would be so bold?
Quickly lifting the curtain to look, it was seen that the carriage had already reached the mountain path, with mountains on the left and a slope on the right. In front of them were more than thirty bandits wearing masks, holding knives and swords, blocking their way. Under such circumstances, turning the horse's head around would be too late.
"Which mountain are you from? How dare you rob us in broad daylight?" the captain of the guard shouted loudly, and the others drew their swords to confront the bandits.
"What business is it of yours which mountain stronghold I'm from? We brothers have been tight on cash lately, so you'd better hand over the silver quickly if you know what's good for you!" a man who looked like a bandit leader said coarsely.
"How dare you! Do you know that this carriage belongs to the Yun General's mansion? You're courting death by attempting to rob us!" The captain of the guards threatened, hoping these people would retreat on their own, otherwise with just over a dozen men, it would be impossible to ensure the safety of their masters.
"Ho, there! The Cloud General's residence, eh? I'm so scared! Brothers, this is a fat sheep, we must treat it well!" A hoarse voice shouted, and a sharp-mouthed, monkey-faced mountain bandit appeared, looking pleased with himself, not putting the general's residence in his eyes at all.
Those thirty or so mountain bandits, upon hearing this, became even more excited, one by one loudly shouting, brandishing their swords and knives, and sharpening them with a whooshing sound, looking as if they were about to take action.
The guards were shocked by this, what kind of background did these people have that they didn't even put the General's Mansion in their eyes?
"How dare you! If you dare to kidnap me today, just wait and see how I'll flay your hides!"
The old lady in the carriage heard that the mountain bandit actually spoke wildly and didn't even care about the general's mansion, so she couldn't help but shout angrily.
"Laozi's catastrophe is the General's Mansion! Brothers, rise up!"
Those mountain bandits seemed to be impatient, treating the old woman's words as nothing but a distant rumor. The leader waved his hand and those bandits rushed forward in unison...
Digression
I have something to say! Some of you may think that the heroine is not tough enough on the old lady, and even being punished twice by her, thinking that the heroine is too weak! In fact, I wrote it this way for a reason. Yun Zhan initially liked the heroine because she was born of the Tong family, but later he liked the heroine because of her own efforts!
If the heroine severely retaliates against the old lady, don't you think Yun Zhan's heart will have a knot? Familial love also requires mutual effort to cultivate. The heroine, because of her love for her father, chooses to ignore some things; similarly, Yun Zhan loves and cherishes her even more due to her consideration!
In the text, Yun Zhan is an upright person, and his filial piety to the old lady is beyond doubt. If the heroine really hurt the old lady, even if Yun Zhan understood the greater good, he would still be dissatisfied with the heroine! The parent-child relationship has cracks, which are also difficult to repair!
