It’s been four days since almost all of the envoys left. They weren’t here for that long yet so much as happened and the City practically changed completely in just a few days.
There’s now a large farm and garden located outside of the North Gate. A massive brewery was built in the facilities district where they are now making at least three different types of beer and even a kind of wine from the last I heard.
Even that wheat beer that someone was trying to make was adapted and made into reality by them. Now only one of the Dwarfs were still here as they would remain to essentially run the brewery and help out with blacksmithing if I needed it.
Thankfully there were also training a very large team in how to manage and run the brewery so that if they left we wouldn’t be completely helpless.
Even the library that was promised to us got built. I was a little worried about the size requirement they proposed but I was again shown the wondrous abilities of complex formations and using Qi.
The library was still a large building, but not nearly as massive as the inside of the library itself. I really don’t understand how it works at all, but the space inside didn’t match the outer appearance at all.
From the outside it looked like a two story building with a dome ceiling, but inside there are quite literally five stories to purview. The books went up in rarity the higher you went and based on their recommendation it was decided that only people I give permission to, should be reading anything from the third floor and up.
Which shouldn’t be too much of a problem since there are thousands of thousands of books on the first two floors alone.
I haven’t gotten a chance to go read any of them yet, but I’ll definitely make some time to check them out.
Currently It was deep into the night, and I was sitting in a bar trying out one of the beers from the brewery. Since the brewery got built, three different bars were quickly up and running.
Of course, all three were funded a bit by the government. It was in our best interest that the City had a night life of sorts and that were different options for people.
Though each of them had to negotiate their own licenses with the brewery since it would be supplying all the alcohol. Something else that differed between them was the food served.
It was nice, and I’m sure there eventually be many different restaurants and bars with time.
“So, tell me again what you told that mermaid.”
Of course, I wasn’t here by myself. Irene had joined me and were given a hastily made booth as we tried a wine that technically didn’t have a name yet as this was an experimental batch.
Support creative writers by reading their stories on Royal Road, not stolen versions.
Based on how Irene was acting it was particularly strong.
It was the second time she had asked me this question.
“Well, I politely declined their offer. I don’t really plan on engaging in a political marriage of any kind.”
“Mhm mhm mhm…and what did she say?”
It was the second time she was asking this as well.
“She said that they will give me some time to reconsider and to allow a few months for other potential suitors to arrive to the planet for me to purview. She guaranteed me that they would all come from High Noble Families within the Empire.
“She also mentioned that one of the Princesses will be paying a visit but not without approval from Elder Zal since every single one of their princesses are above the Nascent Realm.
“Though will a marriage being arranged with one of them is unlikely due to my cultivation, it is not outside of the realm of possibility that such is arranged with a date set a few thousand years into the future when my realm has reached the appropriate point.”
“Yep there it is. A Princess stronger than any of us is going to be potentially coming here to for the chance of getting into your pants is that it? And to make matters worse. There is a chance that both of you will then agree on a wedding date thousands of years down the line.
“Are you going to be a young 1756 years old when you finally have a bachelor party Raz? Is that the plan we’re working with here?”
I think I’ll tell them to make sure this wine is properly classified.
“I turned down that offer as well Irene. Again, I don’t plan on engaging in form of marriage any time soon.”
“Does that include dates as well? This is the first time you’ve actually taken me out on a date, and it was tell try wine and tell me about how some galactic princess wants to become your wife.
“That’s not very romantic now is it?”
Well, she’s not wrong, but I was just trying to tell her about my day. And it was all going well until she started drinking the wine in earnest.
“I’ll take you out on a proper date soon enough.”
At some point I took the glass from her as gently as possible and we talked for hours after that. It was mainly me listening to her vent just a bit about the Apocalypse and the Tutorial, about how she misses her family, and a few other things.
Things I’m sure we were all feeling.
Anyway, by now Irene had dosed off in the booth and I was getting ready to take her home for the night when the doors of the bar flashed open.
Brice, one of the Ash Guard members who was on shift at the moment walked in and after nodding at me briefly, began to talk.
“City Lord. You have visitors.”
Visitors? At this time of night?
“I’ll speak to them in the morning.”
“They insisted on having this meeting at night. Apparently they would much rather to meet at night and would instead abhor a daytime meeting. Of course, we could still refuse if you want us to do so.”
Hm. A group of visitors showed up in the middle of the night and they are insisting on meeting in the night time and went as far as to mention that they would abhor a daytime meeting.
No way right…
“Did you get a chance to see these visitors?”
“…Just briefly Sir. The colors of their hair were different shades of red…and their skins. It was unnaturally pale.”
…
Isn’t he describing vampires?
Your telling me there are vampires in my City right at this very moment?
Wow…
“Send them to the conference room. I’ll be there shortly.”
After Brice left, I took Irene home while four other members of the Ash Guard followed me around from a distance. Of course, both Lirian and Frian were flanking me as I walked.
I wonder how they would react to Vampires…
