Ch. 33 - Cat-astrophy And Snooping

It was turning 18:30, at which point hiroshi headed out, leaving Olivia to be the order-keeper between Nata and Julia, while also assisting keeping Nata off him when leaving home, as the flufcloud tried her hardest to be attached onto him.

Using map on the phone for help, and taking a short while by train, it didn't take long before he came to Azhar's home.

He could take note how it was decently bigger than his own home, which put his mind on considering if the amount of fosters he is having to take care of, maybe he would end up having to upgrade as well, but for now his attention was in wondering what kind of fosters he would be having to deal with this evening.

Upon knocking and opening the front door, before he could even greet himself to the residence, he got a hard rammed into, head hitting his gut, with force pushing him to fall onto the ground with the small person in front landing on top, and soon followed by two others. "It's Hiro!" they spoke out loud in excitement.

With pained and annoyed groan, Hiroshi slowly tried to sit up and look at the culprits, as he got met with six sets of orange fluffy ears, before noticing three sets of cats. one Were, one Demi, and one in between.

"Hope you didn't get too hurt, but I did warn you in that message." Azhar commented, as he came to the front door. "Hupu, Lupu, Tupu. Come inside right now before you Injure Hiroshi more."

The cats took note of his word, and after some considerations, and looks at Hiroshi, they got up and ran back inside, while Azhar slowly approached and gave hand to assist getting him back on his feet. "They can be pretty energetic at times, but seems their curiosity got caught on you... apparently some school friends have spoken a lot about you."

"Good to hear... I am popular with kids." Hiroshi noted with groans of straightening his back from impact on the concrete.

"As message said, there is food in the fridge and cabinets, so feel free to make whatever. Make sure they wash, brush and go to sleep at nine, and we should be back before ten." Azhar repeated, just to make sure he understood, as slowly helped him inside.

To Hiroshi's slight surprise, he also got met by very tall Demi-wyrm woman, notable scales around neck and wrists, Tall, imposing, and dressed for occasion. "Oh, you must be Hiroshi. Thanks for looking after the kittens. Name's Helga."

"Happy to help." Hiroshi said, as he finally seemed to get his back in order. "Just hope you and Azhar will have a good evening together."

"Oh, and before we go, just make sure Tupu has his teddy in bed. His whiskers are sensitive, so it helps him calm down." She noted, before joining with Azhar, who calmly said "That should be all. Just send a message if something comes up. Thanks again, and have a good evening as well. And kits, treat Hiroshi well." To which the choir of cats happily shouted "We will, dad."

With departing words said, Azhar and Hanna went outside, leaving Hiroshi and the kittens, and soon after car leaving the front lawn.

"So, Tupu, Lupu and Hupu, huh? Nice to meet you." He noted, as he patted their heads, as they happily took it and started to purr.

"So, is Hiro with I or E" Lupu spoke up, being the Demi-cat, with tail and ears wiggling in curiosity.

"Obviously it is with E, Tuomas said so." Spoke up Tupu with air of smugness, as for being Were-cat, making him look more like a walking cat.

"No, you know Tuomas lies about that kind of stuff. Did you forget about Maria, and made you convinced it was with J." Quickly argued back Hupu, as he put his hands on Tupu, while thankfully the two kept their balance well with the cat legs, but it made Hupu's human body seem little weird to Hiroshi.

"Well, my full name is Hiroshi, and it is with an I." Hiroshi clarified, as he took rest on the sofa, to which the cats quickly joined.

"Either way, Hiro is a hero." Lupu said with a chuckle, not minding too much

"I wouldn't exactly say that." Hiroshi replied, feeling awkward on getting such high praise from people he just met, even if kids.

"But that's what everyone says when mentioning you." Tupu murmured, his ears lowering with the tail. "Mitch started calling our dad useless compared to you."

Hiroshi was slightly surprise for them to come to him about this bullying situation, but also seeing he was partially at fault, he couldn't help feeling bad.

"That Mitch guy sure sounds like a troublemaker. Honestly, your father is way more amazing at things than I am. Seen it first hand... how about couple stories when I was working with him. Maybe could shut that Mitch up for good." Hiroshi offered, which to his luck caught the cats attention for now, but he knew he didn't have enough to last even an hour.

'Well... this is going surprisingly calm.' Olivia thought to herself, as she relaxed on the sofa with Nata, who was groggily watching a movie, while Julia had left them be to be in the bedroom.

"GAH! WHY MUST I BE SO UNLUCKY!" Nata complained, as seems the movie had caught a nerve with her, as to Olivia's partial dismay, had some romance in it, and coincidentally main character just kissed the leading woman.

"You sure don't get enough of Hiroshi, do you Nata." Olivia commented, hoping not to cause trouble, but also wanting her to calm down by releasing her excess emotions.

"Oh, I sure don't get enough. He is a man I would dream of, the thing my father dreamed me to find, but no, I have to sit along as he goes on risking himself." She shouted in anger, before grabbing her tail and started to chew it, which thankfully didn't hurt as there was enough fur to not hit the tail underneath.

"He is just taking care of three foster kids." Olivia reminded, to which Nata gave a long stare, both agreeing and disagreeing on the consideration.

"I know it is just three kids, but you haven't forgotten what that pastry guy said." Nata quickly spoke up against her.

"Pastry guy?" Olivia muttered, having forgotten who she is referring to.

"I don't remember his name, but the one we met when going home from karaoke. The guy who was Hiro's school friends." Nata reminded, which made Olivia shortly remember.

"Oh, yeah... well, he did say the misfortunes happened a lot more in the school, but today not so much." Olivia recollected. "What does that have to do with anything?"

Nata gave a light growl for Olivia not getting what she was implying, so with a small bork, she quickly spoke up again. "There has to be implication why that happens then. He doesn't want me to be too close for too long... so misfortune could strike him again, and we cannot help."

"I guess." Muttered Olivia, but deeper she considered, more flaws there came to be in her logic. "But he seems capable enough to handle it."

Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

"And we will just leave him be?" Nata said in shock and worry of her considering doing such sin against him.

"I mean... when the trouble week ago happened, it was because we were by him." She reminded her, which didn't ease either of their minds. It was because of Nata that did Hiroshi end up getting involved.

"Oh." Nata huffed, as her logic was broken down to irrelevancy, before returning her attention to the movie, and getting riled up again, leaving Olivia to have to deal with this love struck pup's new schemes in hopes to chase after Hiroshi.

Julia calmly peaked at their activity, and noticing they were occupied on their own stuff before she returned into her bed, as she checked the laptop for any news and activity.

To her pleasure, a familiar ping came up in her DMs.

[25/5/2017 19:27] Scholar Pontiff: Yo, Zomb. I got good and bad news.

  [25/5/2017 19:27] Zombrot77: I am free, so shoot.

[25/5/2017 19:28] Scholar Pontiff: I found couple articles that could be about the man you were asking of, however translating will be hard to do, and there seems to be some third party issues.

[25/5/2017 19:29] Zombrot77: Do as you please then. I will use boogle's auto-translator for now, so send the links.

[25/5/2017 19:32] Scholar Pontiff: Sure. Keep safe.

"So yeah, your dad and Ingolf have been pretty good help when trouble came." Hiroshi happily explained, as the Kittens listened.

"What then?" Tupu asked, as their tails were in the air with excitement.

"Well, boss found out and forced me off the team, and made me special worker."

"So that's why you dealt with the train?" Lupu quickly questioned him further, putting him feeling awkward on the position.

"That's... that isn't exactly why. There was a lot of coincidences that lead to that. I mostly did it because of Nata."

But seems as he spoke onwards, the kitten's attention was disappearing, as they slowly moved to play with toys left in the living room.

Hiroshi gave a sigh of relieve with pressure off his back, before getting a foam dart on the head.

With a light grunt, and checking who was at fault, he noticed Hupu with a toy gun. "Hey, no shooting at the head."

He could notice he was about do to it again, so in retaliation, he went to get the toy gun off him, however he just ran away from him.

As Tupu and Lupu saw the chase, they happily joined in, taking their own toy guns to harass him, leaving him to rush and dash after them.

Toys got thrown, furniture push around little bit, as Hiroshi slowly caught each of the guns, before finally snatching last one, leaving him heaving and panting on the ground, as he kept them close to his chest.

But his break was quickly interrupted as the cats happily hopped onto him in a purr.

"If I make food, would you please calm down!" Hiroshi begged, to which the cats happily complied.

"bla-bla-bla-bla. Not this." Julia muttered, getting annoyed as she is going through the article posts, each one so far having been a miss.

But as the last page was opened, she took great interest in it.

"Third party... Screw you Pontiff." Julia groaned in annoyance, as she saw an old-school blog website of an freelance journalist, but to Julia's delight, she saw some raw images, including one that had Hiroshi's young teen mug on it.

"This seems to be it." she muttered, scrolling through images, seeing a black-furred fox girl, looking distraught, and brutal images multiple people, stab wounds and even couple gun shots.

One that took Julia's attention was a image of an person that appeared to be similar age to Hiroshi, pants off and laying on the floor, with knife stabbed into his back, and multiple black markings around the shoulders and face that was barely visible, but appeared to be tattoos.

She inspected the pictures carefully, as she slowly moved the text to be auto-translated, and as she seemed to be getting some clues. -KNOCK KNOCK-

Olivia calmly opened the door, muttering out "Are you hungry? I was planning on cooking."

Julia had slammed her laptop closed quick and hard, and with slight shock turned her attention to the disturbing moth.

"I KNOW HOW TO MAKE MY OWN, THANK YOU!" Julia shouted in anger, to which Moth was herself surprised, and could feel her tears welling in the eyes.

"No need to shout, sorry." Olivia muttered, before closing the door, trying her best to control herself not to burst from such reaction.

Nata having heard the shouting and noticing the distressed Olivia, came in to give a comforting hug.

"Now, now. No need to cry. There should be fruit cocktail for you in the fridge." She comforted, as she slowly brought her to kitchen for night snack.

Hiroshi settled into the kitchen, checking the ingredients and considering what to make, while the cats were playing in the living room.

"Now what to make... there isn't exactly much, and hell if I know what they like... oh, I know what." Hiroshi muttered, taking note of type of breads they had.

Taking oven pan out from under the oven and putting cooking sheet on it, he went to quickly lay down the bread, spread some ketchup, opened a can of tuna and put it on one half, while also taking some minced meat, cooking it and putting it on other half, and lastly laid shredded cheese on top of all, and putting them into pre-heated oven.

"Ukko sure knew good struggle meals." He thought to himself out loud with a wide smile, as he got good time to relax, as the cats were playing on their own.

"...somehow, I thought this would be way worse." he calmly considered, having slight memories to his own youth of having to deal with his sisters.

His mind wondered into daydreaming of his past.

Things may have been harsher, but it was also so much more simpler.

'cook breakfast, head to school, study, return home, cooking dinner and deal with my sisters... weird, that feels... nostalgic.'

"IT SMELLS SO GOOD!" Tupu shouted in excitement, taking Hiroshi by surprise from his daydreaming, as he noticed the pack of cats having moved to staring into the oven.

"What is it?! What is it!?" Hupu tried to get a peak as Tupu and Lupu kept him out of line of sight.

"Oh, it's something a friend of mine called 'Uunileip?' or oven bread in english." he explained, as he moved to get plates ready and countertop clean.

"You could consider it to be something similar to a pizza." He explained, which got the cats excited.

After some further waiting, and Hiroshi commanding the cats to take a seat by the dinner table, he took the oven pan out and started to separate the breads for them all. two per person, one rye and one toast.

With it, they enjoyed a good night's snack, before Hiroshi knew one last fight he has to have with them before things can get calmer.

"Fox-girl Aki Miyajima was silent on asking for words, so was Hiroshi Yasuda." Julia calmly and silently read the translated text, making sure she kept open mind on how well it was translated.

"Attempting further investigation has been denied by local officers, as well shady figures has been roaming in town."

"family members of Miyajima kicked me out of their shrine's grounds. However, Yasudas were willing to give word." Julia continued reading, and hearing this she got interested.

"Older sister, Haruka, gave her opinion on matter. 'He is the most loving and caring boy I know. No matter how they want to silence it, I will be clear. He is innocent. He fought to save Aki. It's only because those local Yakuza that this things has gotten blown out of proportions. The main victim was the leader's son.' after which she was unwilling to comment further, seeming to be confident on having said all she needed."

"Oh, you have to be kidding with me." Julia muttered, as she closed the laptop.

"What kind of hell have you brought onto yourself, Hiroshi?" She questioned, before shortly opening the laptop and finishing her work, as she took out her flip phone.

With couple beeps, and recheck just in case Nata and Olivia were off her back, she made a call out.

After couple seconds of waiting, the call was answered.

  "Katariina puhelimessa."

"I have something you might be interested in."

  "...in what way?"

"About Hiroshi. Can't talk about it. However, tomorrow I will bring the stuff for you. I hope you have a pay ready for me."

"As long it gives us better clue on who we are dealing with, you will get paid."

"Oh, I reassure you, it is much more than just a clue."

"Alright, stop fighting." Hiroshi groaned, as he was wrestling with the cats, as he slowly was able to drag them into the bath, leaving them disgruntled and him with wet clothes.

Putting the shirt and shorts to dry, he went to scrub and make sure the boys were well washed, including the ears and tails, before able to drag them out to be dried up.

He could see them giving mad glares, but he didn't fight against it, just to get them clean. "I know it isn't fun, but you wouldn't want father and mother to be angry at you."

It didn't help the glares, but they gave him some more leeway, as he slowly got them prepared for bed, and making sure Tupu had his teddy, with giving them a bedtime story with one of the books he found in their room, things quickly got thankfully calmer.

Making sure they were asleep, and shutting the lights, he made a disgruntled walk back onto the sofa, as he checked his phone.

Nothing new thankfully, but he put out a message to Azhar. "Kids are asleep."

couple minutes later, message came through. "That's good to hear. we are finishing up, and should be there in 20 minutes. Feel free to head home."

Seeing the message, Hiroshi felt a wash of relieve come over him, only to realize his babysitting duties weren't exactly over, just dealing with other people.

So getting up from the sofa and giving a good stretch, which reminded him of his injured back couple hours ago. He went back home, where the girls already had gone to sleep by the time he arrived.
