  "This is the System... wow, it looks incredible," Kai said as he explored the system menu.

  "Well, these stats are pretty good for someone who just arrived."

  Lyla approached Kai again and embraced him, whispering in his ear.

  "Let's begin our new life." The surroundings changed completely. "Ready. We are now in the forest near the kingdom of Athelgard, the realm where my religion is practiced".

  Kai heard birds chirping in the vast trees of the forest.

  "This place is beautiful." Kai began to walk through the vegetation. "By the way, you said gods gain more power the more they are worshiped. If I get more people to worship you, will you regain your power?".

  "It doesn't work that way for me anymore. By creating the system, my magic was transferred to you. So, for me to regain my power, you must become stronger," Lyla replied, clinging to his arm, visibly weakened by the system's creation.

  Kai was surprised but made no effort to pull away, so they continued walking together.

  "I see. I must become stronger then." Kai’s feet stopped abruptly as he noticed the remains of a fight. "A question. What kind of magic exists in this world?"

  "You took your time asking that," Lyla said with a small laugh. "In this world, the predominant type is Elemental Magic. If you are born with good mana perception, you can specialize in an element you have an affinity for. But if you aren't, you'll be a fighter".

  As they walked, plants brushed against their legs, and the scent of earth grew stronger.

  "And how is an adventurer's level measured?"

  "It depends on whether you are a mage or a fighter. If you’re a mage, you place your hand on a sphere that measures your mana and affinity. After an exam, they give you your current rank and potential," Lyla explained. "For a fighter it’s similar, you touch the sphere, but since you can't perceive mana well enough for spells, you use it to strengthen your body. After physical tests, they assign your rank".

  Kai thought for a moment. "So everyone has mana, but only those who perceive it well can cast spells?".

  Lyla nodded with a slight smile.

  "And... me?"

  "Your case is special. Since I gave you the System, you can perceive mana effortlessly. You won't just specialize in one class, you can use multiple elements. And you can be a great fighter too. It’s rare for anyone to combine combat and magic like that".

  "Really? That’s incredible," Kai responded enthusiastically.

  But as they neared the edge of the forest, Kai stopped. "I heard branches breaking. Don't move".

  Lyla, staggering slightly, clung to Kai.

  Distance: 100 meters and approaching.

  "An enemy?" Kai couldn't react before a pack of wolves pounced on them. Lyla tried to defend herself, but she was still weak, and two wolves knocked her to the ground. Another wolf lunged at Kai, he saw it coming and tried to dodge, but his legs were too slow, and it nearly tore his arm off.

  Kai fell to the ground, gasping. His heart was pounding like never before. "Lyla!" Kai shouted, standing up and seeing her trying to defend herself with fire.

  A third wolf repositioned itself on his right. As Kai turned, he visualized a fireball in his hand. "Fireball!" he recited, remembering mangas and games. A massive fireball erupted from his hand, pulverizing the wolf instantly.

  The recoil and lack of skill sent Kai staggering back. The other two wolves turned toward him and attacked from both sides. Kai’s legs trembled, but he raised his arm. "Fireball!". A sphere formed, but instead of launching it, he swept his hand with the flame, incinerating both wolves at once.

  As Kai tried to reach Lyla, she pushed him back with a gust of wind. "Watch out!". A fourth wolf, much larger than the rest, lunged between them, nearly slamming Kai into a tree. Lyla crawled to the right, leaning against a rock to help.

  "Fireball!" Kai recited again.

  [ INSUFFICIENT MANA ]

  "Out of mana? Right now? Damn it!". The wolf turned, facing Kai. The air smelled of burnt fur. Kai grabbed a large branch from a nearby tree. The wolf lunged.

  This time, Kai didn't dodge. He stood his ground. The wolf tackled him, digging its claws into his stomach and biting his shoulder.

  "KAI!" Lyla ran toward him with newfound strength. Kai shoved the wolf aside, the branch had impaled it as it lunged.

  "I'm fine..." Kai wheezed.

  "No, you're not, you idiot!" Blood poured from his deep wounds. Lyla knelt and placed her hands on him. Without a word, a green light closed his wounds instantly.

  "Wow... healing magic? You didn't tell me it exist" Kai murmured with a tired smile.

  "You're an idiot," Lyla replied, leaning against a tree and placing Kai's head on her lap. "I'll tell you when you recover. Now, rest".
