After eating lunch, Emilio left the girls to play by themselves and prepared to receive the visit he was having in the afternoon. That evening, he was going to meet with Tuor, he needed to plan everything out.
About an hour later, Milagros arrived at his house with a few boxes.
“Hi Mili, you can come inside,” Emilio invited her over.
“Thank you Emi. You know? It was a mess to organize everything this time,” Milagros entered the house.
“Why is it worse than last time?” Emilio asked and showed her to the seats in the living room.
“Because we had a lot of parties trying to decide what to send. You are officially our ambassador.”
“Wasn’t I already?” Emilio asked.
“Not really, you were just talking in KimTec’s stead. You are now the Earth’s ambassador, approved by the United Nations and most countries.”
“I am what?” Emilio asked not wanting to believe what he was told.
“You are officially a politician. The good news is that now you can negotiate on the name of the whole planet.”
“You know that is horrible news, right?”
“That is what makes it so funny. It is what we wanted, but you hate it,” Milagros smiled at his horrified face.
Emilio sighed as he decided to surrender to the situation. “At least tell me you have the contracts.”
“Yes, we have a Plan A in case we take control of the planet, a Plan B that involves their sponsorship with our independence and a plan C that we don’t really want to use, but involves what Tuor confirmed as a feasible possibility. You will have to sign Soul Contracts about fulfilling the terms in the contracts and to prove his good will in the negotiation.”
When Emilio heard that he had to use the Soul Contracts he knew that the cat was out of the bag. “Does this mean that everyone involved knows who I am?”
“They just know that you, Emilio Castro, who can do Soul Contracts, will go with the ambassador. Not that you are the same person that made the first contact or that you brought all of the information. I don’t doubt that many suspect that there is only one person but no one knows for sure”
This is the best I can get given the current circumstances. The Soul Contract is great but it was obvious it was going to expose me.
Emilio nodded at the conclusion as he understood he was no longer anonymous, at least not for those who knew high tier information. “Is there anything else I need to know?”
“We have a tablet and a kindle for you to give, together with solar chargers. It was decided for it to not be a phone because there will be no signal either way.”
Emilio smiled when he realized he finally had the gift he was expecting. “What about the content inside?”
“That is what made it a mess. It has music, videos, books, video games, recordings of theater plays. Everything that came to our minds was included, but it was carefully curated to not have any information leak. It also includes content in many languages because he can understand all of them at the moment.
“We also included apps to learn the languages in case he wants to and added dictionaries and grammar manuals.”
Royal Road is the home of this novel. Visit there to read the original and support the author.
“It seems quite complete. Thank you for getting them.”
“Not even close to complete, we are working on games consoles and computers for you to send next time,” Milagros explained, surprising Emilio, “Not only for him, but for his higher ups. One of your tasks this time is to find out the approximate number of higher ups his clan has.”
Emilio had to admit that Milagros had gone several steps more than anything he had expected with his idea, but he has no complaints. If they could buy their way into the whole clan with their items, they should do it without a doubt.
“Is it even possible for them to use all of that without electricity?”
“We are working on it and I am grateful that you have a higher Body than normal, you will need it to get everything inside. We can also send other people in your Monolith with packages if needed, but that will show the whole world that our contact is a shopkeeper and where you live.”
“Even if it will sell me out, I would love to see all of the people carrying packages for our deals,” Emilio laughed “Anything else I should know?”
“Yeah, given that he liked the beer we included a set of beverages. We included wines, beers and liquors, but also juices and sparkling beverages. Let him try them out and tell you what he likes the most.”
“It seems we are in for a treat. Should I also bring some food?” Emilio asked.
Milagros stared at his face for a few seconds, with an expression that showed that she was completely defeated even if she pulled all of her effort. “Why didn’t we think of that before?”
“So, should I? Maybe something traditional, what do you say about ordering some asado?”
“I will order it for you,” Milagros agreed, “do you have any idea about the amount of food he eats?”
“No clue, but I don’t think it is a good idea to give him less than what I eat.”
“Double mega ration it is.”
“Great! Do I have to ask him anything specific?”
The short answer was that yes, he did. The long answer was that he spent an hour catching up with Milagros about everything and understanding what he needed to talk with Tuor. She left behind the boxes she carried to his house. They had the electronics, the contracts and the beverages that Emilio left in the fridge for them to arrive cold.
Emilio spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing and left the girls to be by themselves. A bit before 7, the delivery for his dinner with Tuor arrived. It was more than 20 kilos of prepared food, so he really hoped the Shopkeeper could eat it all.
Emilio had a bit of a logistical problem for carrying everything. He could easily carry the weight, but it was not packaged to be easy to carry. With a bit of help from the girls and some tape, he was able to carry it all and leave for the Monolith where he met with their teachers.
“What is this, are you moving into the Monolith?” Rafael asked.
“This is what happens when you are made an official ambassador,” Emilio explained.
“For real? You are our ambassador?” Alberto asked.
“I know, I think we have already lost, don't you think?” Amelia said with a fake worried look on her face.
“Shut up, who is the one who got us all the information? Not you by treating Tuor like a robot,” Emilio complained.
“I didn’t say I should be the ambassador,” The girl agreed while ignoring the comment about the robot.
“Congratulations Emi. I think you are the right choice,” Darío interceded.
“By the way, how did Vic behave?” Gabriela asked. Emilio thought about the chat he had with the girl during lunch before he answered. “Like an angel, she can stay whenever she wants.”
“For real? She is usually not that well behaved.”
“MOM!” The girl complained, trying to stop the embarrassment.
“I didn’t feel that, maybe it is a communication issue?” Emilio tried to help the girl a little bit.
“If you say so…” The woman was still a little suspicious, but she decided to let it go and Alberto decided to intercede. “I am happy everything was ok. With how things are going, she might want to stay more times over there,”
“I don’t have a problem with that,” Emilio agreed.
“Ami, you are also welcome in our house if you want to come,” Alberto addressed the girl.
“Thank you Alberto. I’ll keep it in mind.”
“Are we going to bet this time?” Darío decided to change the topic, “I will go for Ami.”
“Me too,” Rafael agreed and so did everyone else.
As everyone thought that Amelia was the one they should bet on, the whole thing didn’t make sense anymore. Even the bet between Rafael and Gabriela was over because of how they performed last time.
