Chapter 40

It’s nice to see these three again, it hasn’t been the longest in the grand scheme of things but it still has been awhile for me. In the future I bet I will probably not notice when there are these small gaps in people visiting, but for the time being, it’s nice to see them. I sent Elisa to act as the guardian and my mouthpiece to them, she was alright with this arrangement, especially since the mage was there. I feel I should be concerned by that fact, but with the way things are in terms of this contract, I doubt it would be too much of a problem. They move quietly towards the castle as I turn my attention back to the other heir who I summoned what feels like so long ago. He was mostly settled down now that his rage had run its course through the past week or so. I could feel the seething rage within him though, clearly he would never be happy with what I did but it’s something we both had to live with.

“what do you want jailer?” he spoke, the armor turning towards where my view of him was. Yeah this was going to be a long bit of work.

“your sister is here and taught me the power of naming you lot” I quietly circle around the armor, thinking through what I could do. Right now I couldn’t give him a name today since I knew it would be a bit too expensive for me on the [Aether] front.

“yes I felt that, I am assuming I am you’re next target for that” well he wasn’t dense, that’s for sure. “if that is the plan jailer I would request my old name, Alexander”

“Then that can be done” such an oddly…..normal name...and I noticed it with Elisa. These name where like where I was originally from, and it makes me rather curious about all of it. Though that could just be a coincidence, since that is just how the universe tends to roll. “though I should inform you it could be a bit due to my current resource shortage” There was a bit of a sighing laugh as I said that but aside from that he didn’t seem to annoyed by this whole mess. Well, more annoyed then he naturally was that is.

With that figured out I look at the Skeletal spiders, quietly checking through what they have woven. Frankly it was extensive though I am pretty sure most of the webs where meant to catch people not be harvested. The webs where extensive and rather tough looking, if I had to guess at least since I don’t have a way to test. What I could tell at this point was that these spiders where prolific spinners, having enough web in this cave to make it a nightmare to traverse. As I was looking through it I felt Elisa suddenly try to get my attention, which caused me to zip back to the castle. Seems there was a small standoff in progress between the adventurers and the kobolds, the tension in the moment palpable.

  Stolen story; please report.

“what happened here?” Looking between the two I aim the question primarily at Elisa.

“The group here wasn’t expecting to run into the kobolds, but more importantly the kobolds are more or less concerned they are here to raid and or destroy you.” She seems mostly unconcerned by this, either because she knows that wouldn’t happen, or doesn’t care.

“mind breaking them up for me?”

“Well if your asking I might as well” Seems she just doesn’t care unless I ask.

She floats over between the two groups and that draws both of their attention, though the tension refused to melt. I wasn’t quite that privy to the conversation and I didn’t mind since it seemed to at the least get the feeling across that these two fighting inside me wouldn’t be a good idea. That dealt with I watch as the adventurers continue their investigation of my home while the kobolds just stare at them. Once they are out of sight of the kobolds though the tension finally releases as my scaled visitors return to what they were doing. That is something I can live with that as things stand, since I doubt it would be easy for either side to consider things from the other perspective. With that in mind I keep my eye on the adventuring party skulking through my castle investigating the rooms. They mostly took notes on books as they checked out the empty halls, though there isn’t really much of note there. They peak into the hole that will eventually be the cellar/basement/castle dungeon, but decide against going there yet. I can also feel a bit of energy begin to slowly form off of them and it starts to split in flow between them and me. It’s a curious feeling as it continues to fill into me.

Shaking it off as I think it over as just me getting closer to my next level instead of anything else. They begin moving from the castle to the crypt looking through the rooms into each individual piece. There hasn’t been much change in there since these lot have come through but it is the nature of things. They mostly take note of the fact all of the skeletons are as they have been left before, though seem surprised that they recognize most of them. It isn’t until they reach around the entrance to the boss room that they seem weary, makes sense really but still. I do poke Terra to stick in my core room in case something happens, since that seems important. I don’t really feel in danger but without anything in my core I feel a bit, I think naked is a good description.
