Lunacy 119: Found them!

2 days went by when Noelle and Raishin walked up to Giana, Gregory and me who were devouring information in the library.

For cultists, they sure were hard to find. We have gotten an invitation by Noelle’s fanclub!

  Raishin showed 6 small hourglasses.

Are you sure it’s not a war declaration? Why would they give us sand? And isn’t an hourglass a message saying ‘your time is up?’

“I think you’re reading too much into it lil’ bro. So far, they don’t seem that problematic. The only weirdo was Raishin. They did have issues with Raishin though…”

Well, their person of worship has a partner. I’m sure that many won’t like that. Enjoy your assassins, hehe.

Hey! What happened to your assassins?!

All dead, incapacitated or no clue where I am. They might pop up if we stay here too long, though.

“What do those assassins want from you?” Giana asked as she scooted away from Gregory who looked at her over his book.

  So innocent, please don’t change.

  “Tell me!”

I felt a familiar sensation. It was a ‘1 damage’ headlock.

So, when and where is it?

Gregory closed his book and returned it to the shelf.

Uhh in the dried well not too far from the city and its tonight!

  Hehe, we move at twilight!

I wanted to make a cool pose but I was still in a headlock.

  Deca, you’re restricting my freedom…

  Let’s get ready!

How exactly? It is just a meeting, correct?

Well, you guys don’t need to prepare, I will compile everything I know about mana and divine energy and construct theories which might help Noelle out.

I went through more books while Raishin and Noelle left. Not much on puppet master races or divine energy as expected. I should have done a better stealing information from Mishaspire. My [Dimensional Anchor] had moved when Azu moved her house.

Getting to Mishaspire would be a pain at the moment as I should have moved it to our new house there. The closest [Dimensional Anchor] will be in Elliana’s village. They must still be rebuilding, and my clone is still writing papers, books and documents I had archived, which had been destroyed when I turned Witchaven into a soup.

Hey, I know I already did so before but… I apologize for my behavior under my curse.

“It’s fine Gregory. I will forgive, but not forget.”

You don’t need to continue apologizing.

Giana and I were a bit uncomfortable. We picked up mild deception whenever he apologized like that. Whatever this is, it's not over. He did act normal, besides not knowing how to behave around Giana.

Giana still didn't want to have anything to do with Gregory. We needed information, and he joined us as if he knew anything that went on in this library.

This content has been misappropriated from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.

I focused on the literature I was going through. Useless mythology as usual.

90% was about the races I already knew, with the majority being about the different groups of gods. There are more than the Sarian gods, just not as strong. Hopefully less of a pain in the ass, but judging by these works, that's far from the truth.

I might have to dive into religious texts, but I have been reluctant. They're often highly biased. I'm sure there are text stating that the Sarian goddess Biian is benevolent. Ha! Benevolent? My tail! So, there is a lot I need to filter through.

Deca, I think it's time for religious works, have you found anything?

“No…most of this doesn't make any sense or is inaccurate. I'm not an expert, but I can say that much…”

Our education from Hourai makes us pretty much experts. You're older than me, so you should know more.

“Well mortals don't have a real connection to the immortal, so everything is just interpretation. Not very scientific… Let's see what the religious texts say.”

  Gregory also got up.

“Could you stay here in case Yv, Noelle or Raishin come back?”

  Uh sure…

We got up and moved to the religious section. We looked through some and most had very interesting stories but nothing useful.

“But have they even met these gods?” Giana asked as she flipped through the pages.

She made a good point. Some seemed to go high on the interpretation of the gods’ behaviors.

I flipped through pages to find how they suggest worshiping or create altars and the like.

“All I can find is that worship will empower their god. Nothing else concrete.” Giana put down a thick book.

  Same…

I put my book down too.

  This is not going anywhere.

We couldn’t find anything that could be remotely useful. We might have to piss off Bellia, get our asses kicked and ask her about it. A bit sad that that is our only option.

  “I think it’s time.”

We placed the books back and went outside. It was getting cold and Gregory was waiting outside.

  Did you find anything?

Nope. We will have to get creative.

Yv, Raishin and Noelle were waiting for us.

Let’s raid those cultists! Noelle is mine!

How about we don’t antagonize another cult?

Fine…but if they pull something, we nuke them!

  Sounds like a plan.

“Did you find anything, lil’ bro?” Noelle asked as we went to leave the city.

Nope, it’s all you. Just focus on your feelings when you’re there. Not your emotional feelings.

“I will do my best.” Noelle looked down the well we were supposed to jump into. “What is this? Are they trying to enrage me?”

“She does have a point. What did they tell you, Raishin?” Yv asked Raishin.

  It keeps them well hidden!

But they’re worshiping Noelle, the least they could do is making a decent and sturdy entrance…

Noelle stomped and made a tunnel. “Let’s meet my followers.”
