Chapter 2

New Washington, Ascendant, Sirius System, Presidential Office, White House II, President Charles Douglas

"What the hell is going on?"

  "Has the situation been confirmed?"

"What's the status of the colony!?"

A man in a black suit with a red tie and brown hair sat at behind his desk at the rear of the circular room holding his hands to his chin in deep thought. The latest report had taken him completely off guard and sent the White House into a frenzy. He sighed, rubbing his face aggressively before looking up at his cabinet members, who were caught in a heated argument. "Enough!"

The room quieted. The Presidential Oval Office which resembled the same Oval Office used before the country had colonized the Sol System was not as quiet as ever. "Now, Ms Romanoff, give me a breakdown of the situation."

"Of course Mr. President." The black haired woman wearing a similar suit with no tie turned to face him completely. "At 1300 Ascendant Time a group of civilian vessels originating from Arcadia appeared Infront of the 1st Stargate Division broadcasting destress signals. UACR Vendetta made contact with the freighter SS Walker, the captain of the freighter soon revealed that Arcadia had fallen under attack from a unknown enemy."

"Upon examination of video footage from the civilian vessels the attacking warships were found to be very similar in design to the Imperium Warship that had made contact with us one month ago." The Intelligence secretary from the Office of Military Intelligence continued. "Sir I recommend an immediate counter strike, this is a act of war."

"My party vowed in the election to avoid any wars with factions we might find in the Beta Proioxis Galaxy. I would like to try to keep that promise before anything." Douglas frowned, he knew that in this moment conflict was reasonable. The people would not stand for the attack on a colony and there would be demands from the people for retribution. However a small portion of him hoped that this could be sorted diplomatically. "We should send a ambassador."

  "Sir-".

"I'm not saying to send one alone, however we need to see if our people are alright. At this moment our enemy is holding a planet of 300,000 hostage. It would be preferable we see our peoples release before we attack." President Douglas grinded his teeth. Looking up at his Secretary of Foreign Affairs he sighed. "Call Ambassador Hudson."

Sector 59, "Arcadia", VS Harbinger of Ruin, Admiral Xyrr'Volak.

Admiral Xyrr'Volak watched the planet surface from low orbit within his flagship the Harbinger of Ruin. As the Admiral of the proud Varkath fleet that had been tasked with subjugating this planet a smirk was not firmly planted on his face. There had been no warships around the planet making it easy pickings. Several starships had escaped at the start of the assault, but he paid them no mind. The city had fallen and only a few areas of resistance remained, it was annoying that his soldiers had not been able to get through the enemies defenses. However they used inferior slug throwers that would eventually run out of ammunition.

The admiral had deep violet skin, slitted nostrils and a sharp and a mandible-lined jaw. His appearance was predatory and intimidating to those he faced. He wore a silver artistic navy uniform that told of power and wealth. A pair of black boots kept his 3 toed feet from touching the ships hull.

The Harbinger Of Dawn was a Longing Class light Battleship and the largest ship of the fleet. At 600 meters in length and was designed a elongated oval shape with a bulbous and organic-looking design. A ventral outrigger fin held the bridge bellow the main hull providing excellent visibility for the vision crew for any operation. Protected behind advanced shield generators on housed internally. 5 large magic drives propelled the ship through space and 12 large 18" single barrel mana cannons graced its hull. Normally hidden under retractable compartments in the hull. It was incredibly powerful and the ship elegant, as was expected form an Imperium designed warship.

"Admiral, Commander Vraal reports that he has broken through the first enemy defensive line." A sailor with insect features on their body and 3 eyes walked forward and reported. "The Imperium is also looking for a update."

"Damn Imperials won't give us give me a break. They seem to expect a update every 30 seconds." his words snapped in annoyance. "Fine, I'll humor them."

He turned around and walked through a automatic sliding door that opened and closed behind him. As he entered the bright white room, magic energy gathered around a magic orb before projecting the image of a prestigious elven male. "Admiral Xyrr'Volak, situation report." the Imperium Admiral overseeing the operation in Sector 59 demanded. The elf had blond hair and wore a white Imperium naval uniform with gold trimming.

"We just broke through the first line of the remaining defenses on the planet. We have complete control in atmosphere and the first batch slaves are already being gathered in one of their stadiums to be transported off world when the time comes."

The Imperial smirked. "And I thought that your slave organization had some of the best fighters? How could subjugating a single planet of backwards slug-throwers be this hard, its embarrassing to say the least." He turned around as someone spoke to him off projection. "I must go, I have far more pressing concerns then your conquest. Contact me when it is finished."

The magic video feed cut out as he grit his teeth in irritation. Suddenly the doors behind him opened and the sailor from earlier rushed into the room. "Admiral! An unknown vessel has just jumped into the region! They say that Arcadia is under their control and have brought a diplomat to discuss terms of our withdrawal!"

A smirk came to his lips. This could prove to be interesting and perhaps lift his boredom. "Heh. They are probably from another low life nation trying to cease the planet from us. Very Well! Tell them to come aboard!"

Primaris Ascendant, Beta Proioxis Galaxy, Selene Atrius, High Councilor Chambers.

"And you are sure this wasn't just a simple dream?" High Councilor Varian questioned from his spot in a golden seat in front of a glass window at the top of the spire. "Us members of the Council can have regular dreams too. I am sure you are aware."

"I know that High Councilor, but it was so real! I know what I saw was more than a regular dream." Selene kneeled on a red cushion on the floor in front of the elf.

"I am sorry Selene, but the invasion of Arcadia is already underway and the planet has fallen. At this moment there is nothing that I would be able to do." The elder looked away from her. The silver haired human arms shook as she faced the floor. Every time she tried to fall asleep the same dream of the Imperium fleet in orbit above Arcadia being destroyed would find its way into her mind. She shivered, a feeling of wrongness causing her to wince.

Selene stood up, turned around and left. Her head held down and shoulders slouched. The door to the High Counsellor's chambers closed behind her as she walked down a tall hallway with stained glass depicting murals of the Orders history.

She should have expected the result she received, however there had been some hope. The High Counsellor was likely only trying to make her feel better, she doubted that he believed in her vision.

And she knew that the dream she saw was more then a normal Dream.

They hadn't been there to experience the events of what happened, attacking that planet was going to be a very large mistake.

"Selene!" A student ran from a group of 6 children to meet her. The girl was a Zyrraketh with a very human appearance aside from the blue skin. She had black hair that was common amongst the Zyrraketh population and was currently wearing a white Student Uniform. Syythara Vex had become close to Selene over the three years the student had been in the academy, the blue girl often skipping classes to hangout with the human council member.

"Syythara, what are you doing here? Shouldn't you be in your next class already?" She looked up at the other students who the Zyrraketh seemed to have been walking with. "Are you skipping with your friends?"

  "Of course!"

Selene sighed, wiping a piece of loose hair behind her ear. "What am I going to do about you?"

"I don't know-" Syythara trailed off the end of her sentience with a slight one food spin like a ballerina. However there was a moment of pause as the girl stopped her spin, looking up at her human friend with a curious expression. "You seem sad, is everything alright? Do you need someone to talk to."

  Another pause.

"It's nothing you need to concern yourself with Syythara, I'm fine." Selene sighed. The blue skinned student sent her a not believing look. Selene looked away, she wouldn't dare to tell this child the contents of that dream. She didn't need another person to be laughing about her troubles, this was something Selene would keep to herself. "Lets go get some Ice-cream."

"Yay!" The two set off down the halls towards the buildings exit.

Arcadia, Ambassador Hudson, VS Harbinger of Ruin

Ambassador Hudson prepared himself for the alien race he was about to meet face to face. He himself wished nothing more than to see this pitiful fleet above the one proud colony reduced to nothing but space debris. However the NACR was not trying to get into a war anytime soon. He grit his teeth. His blond hair cut short was freshly cleaned in preparation. He wore a traditional blacks suit and tie over a plaid white collared shirt.

The ST-80 "Atlas" Dropship landed in the hanger of the unknowns flagship with a thump. Hudson straightened his collar before the cracks of light began to seep through the opening ramp in front of him.

The Atlas Dropship was designed for atmospheric and orbital flights. Intended as a troop transport with gunship capabilities. It was 28 meters in length, 7 meters in height and had a wingspan of 15 meters. Propelled by 4 VTOL capable thrusters and a hybrid anti-gravity system for smooth atmospheric transition. Its cockpit was more forwards and elevated allowed good visibility for the flight crew. The ship landed on 3 retractable legs keeping it off the ground. Its hull a distinct navy green with the NACR symbol on its side.

Walking down the ramp of the dropship Hudson was met with hound reds of eyes as armed sailors and soldiers created a path leading to a purple alien wearing a silver artistic navy uniform. Hudson was correct in his assumption that how things looked in this galaxy played a large role in the construction of warships, weapons, and even the uniforms. This was likely the man the Ambassador was going to meet.

Walking forward the two met at the half way point. The marines escorting the Ambassador gripped their weapons tighter. "Greetings, I am Ambassador Hudson from the North American Constitutional Republic. I am here to discuss your recent invasion of our colony world Arcadia."

The Alien looked at his with a disgusted face. "Human. I am Admiral Xyrr'Volak, leader of the Varkath fleet above this planet. I have never heard of your nation before, I recommend that you leave before you get hurt. This planet is under our control, its people now ours to sell and use as we want. It will soon be sold over the the Imperium who will gain control after us and turn this planet into a mining world!"

Hudson narrowed his eyes. This alien was far more arrogant then he was expecting. "My government is not willing to hand over Arcadia this easy. I was sent to try and take the diplomatic option instead of forcing you our of here ourselves." He looked at the marines behind him who were scouting out the enemy soldiers while also keeping their attention on the Ambassadors situation. "At the very least show me that the civilians are being treated fairly."

Admiral Xyrr'Volak sneered. "Fine, I will show you your people. But you will leave once I have. I don't have time to waste on a weak nation like yours that I have never heard of before." He turned around and gave a nod to a soldier who bowed before running ahead of them. "Fallow me human, your guards must stay here."

  "Why you little-"

"Very well, Captain. Please keep watch of the ship. I will return soon." Hudson turned and left with the alien without receiving a complaint. He needed to play along with this purple fools game a little longer.

The Admiral said nothing as they walked down a dozen fancy hallways that eventually led to a single door that slid open. "Alright Admiral, where how is being in this room going to assure me that-" Hudson looked to his right and his breath hitched and eyes went wide.

In a row civilians were chained together at the ankles. They heads faced down and clothing stripped down to their underwear. One of the civilians who had noticed the commotion looked up with wide eyes. "Your with the NACR!"

They were slaves, God damn the thing Amarican had aolished centuries ago was taking place in front of him.

Ambassador Hudson looked at the Admiral who said nothing before walking over to the captured Arcadians. "Are you all alright? We are going to get you out of here somehow."

"Its not worth it. These alien bastards will never listen to reason. They only listen to brute force." one of the men spoke. Glaring up at the admiral who frowned further. The man looked back to the ambassador. "They plan to take us all as slaves, please don't let that happen. We would rather die then be sold into slavery."

Ambassador Hudson clutched his fists and walked back to the admiral with narrowed eyes. "Let them go immediately." He demanded.

The purple alien laughed. Hudson was loosing his patience. A smirk fell onto the Admiral Xyrr'Volak's face. "Sure I'll let them go-"

  "Good, now-"

The alien raised his arm to the armed soldiers in the room. "To the afterlife." A furry of golden energy bolts flew into the civilians coating the walls in blood behind them. Some going so far as to spatter on the Ambassador and Admiral themselves.

Hudson looked at the bodies. Slowly turning around he walked back over carefully and looked at a piece of paper laying in the blood. His body shook as he reached down and grabbed it. A tear of hatred falling from his eye. "Take me back to my ship Admiral Xyrr'Volak." He spat.

"But of course!" the alien laughed.

They fallowed the same set of hallways back to the hanger. The anger on the ambassadors face growing with every second as his brain switched from analyzing the situation diplomatically to the desire to see this fleet burning.

They entered the hanger where Hudson's guards were waiting. Seeing the blood on the Ambassadors face they tensed up. Fire burnt in the ambassadors eyes as he held up the blood stained photo of a family he had picked up from the corpse. "We are leaving." He announced. The soldiers saluting with no words said before turning around and guiding Hudson back to the ship.

As they stepped up onto the ramp of the dropship Ambassador Hudson turned to face the Admiral one last time with his hands shaking.

"Admiral." He called out causing the purple monster to look at him oddly.

"Yes human? What do you want? I think it's time you left already." The beast smirked.

"You." He trailed off. "And your fleet will burn for this."

  FOX News

Breaking news: Arcadia under attack, civilians massacred as alien monsters declare war!

We have just learned that the newly set up Colony of Arcadia in the Beta Proioxis Galaxy across the Stargate has fallen from an attack by a Alien fleet. President Douglas explained in a conference that a ambassador has been dispatched to negotiate the release of the planet from the aliens however things took a drastic turn.

"It was right in front of me. The monster ordered the massacre of civilians they would use as slaves. These people were innocent and our enemy had no right to do such a thing."

Said Ambassador Hudson, the man who met the as he described, "the purple beast". Protests of the action have broken out across the galaxy, many demanded imideate military action. Extremists organizations have even demanded taking away restrictions on Weapons of Mass Destruction.

President Charles in a conference has assured the population that the enemy fleet in orbit will be burnt for their actions.

Primaris Ascendant, Galactic Center, Imperium Capital, Aeternian Council Chamber

"Your late, Selene." Kael Veyron sneered.

"Enough, Kael. Selene, please explain yourself. We were forced to start without you." High Counsellor Varian Solis snapped at the Drakari. The dragonoid human looked away before the councils attention turned towards the human who just entered the room.

"I am sorry, High Counsellor, I was talking to some students near the Academy before you called me here for the meeting. I will try and be on time in the future." The silver-haired woman bowed her head before sitting down in her chair around the table.

"I will take your by your word." Varian sighed. Giving a nod to the girl before turning to Kael and gesturing for him to speak. "Please continue Sir Kael, you mentioned a recent development in the invasion of Arcadia."

The Drakari nodded before sending a quick glare Selene's way. "This meeting was called because of new information that has been found during the Varkath invasion of Arcadia. More specifically a possible first contact with another government in the unknown regions of Sector 59." Kael revealed, the room quickly going quiet.

"First Contact? The chances are slim." Isolde responded with a raised brow.

"Please explain Kael." Varian scratched his chin as he leaned into the table.

"Admiral Xyrr'Volak reported that a unknown entity had arrived over the planet after his initial invasion. They had brought a Ambassador to try and negotiate the release of the planet and slaves." The mans dragon tail snapped against the ground. "They hailed from a government they called the North American Constitutional Republic, they claimed that Arcadia is one of their colony worlds."

Selene's eyes went wide as she looked over to the High Councilor, the man spent her a single glance. His face hardened as he went into deep thought on the situation. He must be trying to brush it off as a coincidence.

"And what of the interaction between Xyrr'Volak and these unknowns. Please spare the details."

The red scaled man smirked. "They threatened to burn his fleet to the ground before leaving on their ship."

Kael was obviously trying to make the encounter seem more insignificant than it was. "I am sure there is more to the story than that Kael, I highly doubt that is all to this story."

"Selene are you trying to insinuate something, if they truly are from the unknown regions then they are obviously nothing more than simple barbarians." Isolde sent a glare, once again making the human feel small when around these giants. "I don't think we should be making much of this situation and should instead send Xyrr'Volak into the unknown regions once his conquest is done to take control of these barbarians."

"Isolde enough, I am siding with Selene on this. Please tell us the full story Kael." Varian raised his voice to take control over the room again.

"Fine." He looked to Varian. "Admiral Xyrr'Volak met with the ambassador and agreed to show him the state the civilians on the planet were in. After leading the ambassador to the slaves the foreigner demanded their immediate release. The admiral killed the slaves in front of him. When escorting the ambassador back to the shuttle he had arrived on, the ambassador swore that the Varkath fleet would burn."

"Goodness, why did we ever entrust this mission to the Varkath. I knew they could not do it without messing something up." A member of the council hissed.

Varian sighed. "This is very troubling indeed, even if our enemy does not have the technology that we posses Varkath has backed them into a corner. Like any animal in such a situation they fight back."

"Pay these unknowns no mind High Councilor. Admiral Xyrr'Volak has promised that he will destroy their fleet when they come to regain the planet. They will not stand a chance." Kael sneered. "I see no reason for you to be in this deep of thought about a matter like this, its not normally like you."

Selene kept her face hidden from the conversation. She was sweating, her dream was coming into action right in front of their eyes. They were about to piss off something they were never meant to touch.

New Washington, Ascendant, Sirius System, Presidential Office, White House II, President Charles Douglas

"What do you have for me Admiral, we have left our people without help for a week now. I want boots on the ground as soon as possible." President Douglas sighed from behind his desk. The man standing in front of him was Admiral Marcus Vance, a decorated individual who had served in the Navy for the last 34 years.

"We have a plan ready and are gathering the fleets, we are awaiting your go ahead for us to take action." The aged man wearing a crisp white navy admirals uniform with his insignia plastered on his shoulders and stars on the jackets cuff.

"Very well, give it to me."

Admiral Vance straightened himself. "Mr. President, the 1st Stargate Division along with the recently assembled 2nd Libertas Fleet and the 8th Assault division will lead the attack. The 1st and 2nd division will deal with the fleet in orbit while the 8th Assault Division will land on the planet using its Ranger Class Assault Carriers to land troops on the surface. We will support our front lines on the planet first before moving into the city. From the ambassadors report it would seem that the local garrison had been forced to abandon the city and set up a new front line in the Liberty Highlands region outside the city."

"Good work Admiral, I knew I could trust you to get the job done." President Douglas smiled. "You have my go ahead."
