Prologue: The Life of Trey

  Entry: 1/19, Year 1, Spring, day 61 8:00:01 AM,

  Hey, Trey here.

I've met up with Meyers in the emergency shelter. He suggested going to find a vehicle, but that... wouldn't it be better to wait for the government? The official instructions are to stay inside the building. It’s not safe out there.

Meyers eventually agreed to wait and see for a few days before we try looking for a car. If we don't hear anything in a week, we'll go out and start scavenging.

The computer mentioned the refugee center, with included address. Should keep that in mind, just in case.

Still, that's miles away. Not something I really want to hike.

Plenty of food for a couple days, but it's not going to last forever.

  Tastes gross, too.

  There's a kid outside,

  they don't look healthy

Shambling around with a vicious expression, blood on her lips.

I... if they were okay, they'd just come inside, right?

Meyers and I agreed to not to call out, just in case.

Broke out the chicken soup for lunch. Needed a break from the protien protein rations. We only had the one can. Not a lot of food for a shelter, but I suppose that’s what the rations are for.

Can still hear the groans of the child out the window... We're trying not to think about it.

Leftover soup for dinner. I'm going to sleep in the basement. I can't get

the moans out of my head. God, I miss my bed. I'd take a carpeted floor over these

  damn benches.

Woke up in the middle of the night, not sure how long I slept. Looks like the kid's gone.

Not sure where Meyers went either, but I'm pretty sure he's just sleeping.

Grabbed a blanket to help keep myself warm.

Meyers's been teaching me dancing. There’s nothing else to do

It feels bizarre to be both terrified and bored. Is this how soldiers in the world wars felt in the

trenches? Wishing something would happen, dreading what it will be?

Entry: 7/19, Year 1, Spring, day 63 4:18:34 PM, 11 hours, 28 minutes since last entry

  God we're bored.

We've just been talking about all sorts of things, but we... we don't want to talk about family. Not until we know.

I can't play my games, so we've been chatting about Meyers's hobbies. Been doing whatever we can think of to stave off insanity. Meditation, sock puppet plays, anything.

The groans from outside are driving us insane. I don't know what will happen if they hear us

I hope the government will be here soon.

  Holy Shit! Zombie Horse!

Entry: 9/19, Year 1, Spring, day 63 6:54:47 PM, 16 minutes since last entry

god, it just smashed into the window, then destroyed the wall so it could get through!

  Christ!.

We're both okay, just a little banged up. We ended up running over to the horse paddocks, hopping the fences while the horse smashed through them behind

  God.

It was so fast! we ended up losing it in the dense woods.

What the hell do we do now?

Entry: 10/19, Year 1, Spring, day 63 7:02:30 PM, 7 minutes since last entry

  GOD Christ

  shit!!

Meyers ran almost directly into a stone statue as we were making some distance, and it burst to life and smashed his head right in! he's fucking dead?!

  Shit!

Entry: 11/19, Year 1, Spring, day 63 7:27:59 PM, 25 minutes since last entry

I was able to escape the statue at a brisk walk. Fuck, it killed Meyers and all it took was a focused bit of walking to escape. The troll I saw in the woods didn't see me before I snuck away. Oh right, Troll. There was a troll. That’s…. That’s not a zombie. I don’t know how else to describe it though: giant green swampy looking creature. Horrifying. Keep me all the way away from that, please.

I was poking around a ruin for a while, looking for some food before I realized it was a military installation. It probably got blown the hell up, covered in radiation and shit. I'm gonna get freakin cancer. Assuming I survive the zombie apocalypse. Feels less and less likely by the hour.

  my eyes itch

Now that the sun's coming down..... I still don't know what to do. But the zombies I saw near the shelter all chased us through the horse paddocks. (much slower than the horse, of course). So the shelter should be relatively safe. At least the basement, anyway. That's the only place I know has a first aid kit and no zombies. I need one of those soon.

Entry: 13/19, Year 1, Spring, day 63 9:13:33 PM, 27 minutes since last entry

Made it without too much trouble. Bumped into some dead as I passed through the woods, but I was able to lose them in the trees. god.... What do I do?

Entry: 14/19, Year 1, Spring, day 64 12:15:52AM, 3 hours, 2 minutes since last entry

Well, one thing I have in no short supply are bandages.

The booklet that comes with the kits is instructional enough for me to figure out what I'm doing.

Sucks having to use my phone as a flashlight. Wish the electricity worked. Battery’s only going to last so long.

Also, I...uh... got a look at my eyes.

I'm pretending they're swollen. It’s too dark to see properly anyway….

Entry: 15/19, Year 1, Spring, day 64 6:53:35 AM, 6 hours, 37 minutes since last entry

Made myself a basic club out of the end of a bench, and took a peak upstairs to see what the dead situation was.

I saw a couple, but they seemed really damaged. had trouble moving.

I kited one through the broken window, which really messed up its mobility. I brained it while it was stuck in the window. Sucess!Success! Unfortunately the second dead guy heard the violence noises, and came over. He got stuck in the window too, but didn't die on the first swing.

Clawed me on the arm pretty good, but it doesn't seem infected or anything. Killed it on the second swing.

  Ugh, I feel weird.

And hungry. God I want food, but I just... can't bring myself to eat another protien ration. The very idea of it makes me want to throw up.

Entry: 17/19, Year 1, Spring, day 65 1:32:51 AM, 4 hours, 34 minutes since last entry

Made out like a bandit, but I did get smacked around a bit as I was escaping. I have to hope I'm going to be okay. I’m applying as much medicinal care to my wounds as I know how to do (which isn’t much).

God, cheese has never tasted better. But for some reason…. The apple I snagged just looked… appetizing. I love apples. That doesn’t make any sense to me.

Entry: 18/19, Year 1, Spring, day 65 11:40:10PM, 22 hours, 7 minutes since last entry

Crap... I ate all the food. Not quite true, I’ve got a bunch of bread I snagged, but I couldn’t keep it down… Why can I eat cat food but not garlic bread?

Entry: 19/19, Year 1, Spring, day 66 12:05:22AM, 25 minutes since last entry

snuck out for more food, got ambushed by a freaking alien. This may be my last entry.......

  Entry ?/?, Year ???, ???, day ?? ??:??:??, eternity since last entry

Fuck…. It got me. I’m dead right?

Where am I? That freaky alien tore me apart. It reminded me of those freaky guys from a Quiet Place, but also it definitely had eyes. But yeah, there wasn’t much I could do. I ran as far as I could, but it wasn’t enough. Got its claws into my guts and brought my insides outside.

  So… where am I?
