Chapter 2: Heading to the Pet Store

The adults of the Knight-Lennox family agreed that it would be a great idea for Ty “Turbo” Knight to have some responsibilities as a pet owner. Dave and Dee, Tyler’s older siblings agreed to accompany Ty to the pet store. The pet store was just a few feet away from the apartment, walking distance.

“Ah yes, some fresh air” said Dave as he breathed it in.

“Yes, it’s nice that we finally get to be out once and awhile,” said Dee.

Dave knew who the pet store owner was – a gray alien known as Katina Me. Katina greeted the Knight siblings as they strolled inside the pet store.

“What can I get you three today?” asked Katina as she strolled right in.

“Actually, Tyler here is the only one who wants a pet,” said Dave.

Katina gazed at Ty for a bit.

“Okay Tyler, what sort of pet do you want?” asked Katina.

There were a range of pets, ranging from your average domestic dogs and cats, rodents such as rabbits and hamsters, to the more exotic and alien-like versions of the same animals. Ty didn’t know who in the household would be allergic to the animals present.

“Don’t you have any robotic versions of them?” asked Ty.

If you encounter this tale on Amazon, note that it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

“Ah yes, you are keen on preventing allergies from kicking up” laughed Katina, “right this way.”

The female gray alien led the trio to the back area of the pet store where the pet robots were stored – the robotic versions had special chargers, where the robotic animal would be charged up. One such robotic cat was starting to glitch out in front of them. Its meows were a bit off.

“M, m, meow,” said the robotic cat.

The other robotic animals were not as active as the glitched cat.

“I know the perfect name for this new cat – Glitchy,” said Ty.

Dave wasn’t so certain, he didn’t know if the robotic cat had a computer virus that could harm the apartment. Even Dee was leaning on agreeing with her twin brother.

“But you haven’t tried the other robotic pets,” said Dee.

“Well, you said I could have any pet, and I select Glitchy,” said Ty.

  “Glitchy it is,” laughed Katina.

Katina then showed the trio to the register, where Dave paid for the robotic pet with the family credit card.

“Pleasure doing business with you,” said Katina.

Ty was given a cat lease, and even remote controller. Ty wasn’t sure if the cat was a boy or a girl, since it was a robotic cat. It jerked around a bit which citizens on the street noticed.

“That cat is rather buggy” remarked one male citizen.

“Oh, I agree, he needs a computer programmer to fix that one” laughed a gray alien male citizen.

Ty wasn’t paying attention to the comments by those around him, but his siblings heard them.

“Maybe we should have this pet robotic cat checked up first before we take it back to our apartment,” said Dee.

  “Glitchy is fine,” said Ty.

Soon a wire spring burst out of the robotic cat.

“Okay, I guess we should take the cat to a robotic expert,” said Ty.

Lucky for the Knight siblings, Dee knew of a certain expert who could assist them in seeing if Glitchy would be safe to take back to the apartment. She was certain there was something wrong with the robotic feline.
