Poor Di Daughter
April 3rd, 1888
Ye Family Prime Minister's Residence
The sun shone brightly, and the gentle breeze rustled the leaves of the pagoda tree in the small courtyard. Birds sang happily on the branches, while a slender woman stood inside the wing room, hesitating in front of several garments, unsure what to wear for today's grand feast.
Her eyelashes, as beautiful as a fan-shaped shell, fluttered up and down, and in her dark eyes like autumn water, there was an indescribable joy. She had been living deep in the backyard for many years, rarely contacting outsiders, so how could she not be happy to see two princes at once today?
She also knew the emperor's intention in holding this precious banquet at the Prime Minister's mansion. Since her mother passed away, she had followed her mother's will: to swallow her breath and live a humble life.
It was all worth it just to wait for this day, thinking of which, her delicate face like jade showed a rare girlish shyness.
She picked out a water-blue dress, just about to try it on in front of the copper mirror, when she heard the sound of birds flapping their wings and chirping loudly outside. She looked up to see that the leaves of the pagoda tree had fallen all over the ground.
Her eyes sank, her body couldn't help but tremble, and her eyes revealed fear, but she didn't forget to quickly turn around to pick up the clothes on the bed. Who knew that as soon as she turned around, a malicious voice came from behind: "Sister is really thoughtful, preparing clothes so early."
Her cold eyes gazed weakly at the small hands tightly grasping a few clothes, tied behind her back, like a startled deer afraid of the group of people coming in.
Why, all these years, she let them bully her, endured the humiliation, and even today they still don't want to give her a chance.
These people were none other than the daughters of the various houses of the Chancellor's Manor, and also her sisters. Yet she had never felt any sisterly love from them. On that warm spring afternoon, she felt a chill run down her entire body.
Leng Ruyu gazed at their attire, each one more resplendent than the last, with clothes and jewelry that far surpassed her own. Over the years, except for New Year's when she would receive one or two pieces of clothing, Second Madam never bought anything for her, but she had never held it against her either.
She always remembered what her mother had said, not to be calculating, to protect herself, and when she was of marriageable age, to find someone to marry and escape from the Chancellor's mansion. However, she had already wasted her youthful years, yet still no one came to propose to her.
The third young lady, Leng Ruxiu, who was standing next to Leng Rulin at the front, gave a signal with her eyes. Leng Ruxiu took a quick step forward and snatched the clothes from Leng Rutang's hands, shaking them as she laughed coldly: "Elder sister, why do these clothes look so familiar?"
She suddenly threw her clothes to the side with a look of disgust: "It was originally those few sets that Second Sister had planned to throw away to street beggars a few years ago."
Leng Ruyan stood there with her head down, letting them scold her. As long as they were tired of bullying her, they would leave.
Fourth Miss, gnawing on an apple, laughed loudly: "These are all things from a few years ago, and you're still treating them as treasures. If you don't have clothes to wear, come to my place, I just happen to have several sets that I was about to give away to the servants."
As soon as she spoke out, several others stared at her, and Fourth Miss only then realized that she had misspoken.
"My mother is not around, my father doesn't care, and if my older sister can just have clothes to wear, that's already good enough. If it weren't for my mother's kindness, she would have long ago become a beggar on the streets." Leng Ruxing's eyes flashed with a fierce glint, as if having clothes to wear was still a charity from her mother.
"I suppose elder sister also knows this point, so she's in such a hurry to marry herself off tonight."
"Haha, this is the biggest joke I've ever heard. At her age, she can't even give birth to a child, and ordinary people don't dare to propose marriage, yet they still expect the prince to take a fancy to her."
"You can't say that, although older sister is a bit old, but this face is still tender and smooth, it's still slippery to pinch." Leng Ruxiu stood closest to Leng Rutong, stretched out her hand and pinched towards Leng Rutong's face, all five fingers sank into Leng Rutong's flesh.
Leng Ruyi clenched her teeth and endured the pain, shaking her head to struggle free, but dared not resist, for she knew that the more she resisted, the more suffering she would endure.
"Yes, elder sister's waist is like a willow branch, making one's heart feel carefree." A hand pinched at her waist.
"And this beautiful hair also makes people linger and forget to leave." A hand suddenly grabbed her head, Leng Yu's eyes closed silently enduring all of this, as long as the pain was over, they would leave, she comforted herself.
But then, unexpectedly, Leng Ruxin, who had been standing by without intervening, suddenly let out a sharp cry and pointed at the pile of clothes on the bed with a look of consternation: "What... what is that?"
"Second sister, what are you saying?" Cold Ruxiu hastily followed Cold Ruling's cries to turn over those clothes, but suddenly let out a loud cry and sat down on the ground, muttering: "Heavens, big sister, how could you do such a thing."
Leng Ruyi endured the pain, but when she heard their panic, she was suddenly confused. She didn't even notice that her hair was still being pulled as she looked towards the bed, and was shocked to see a pair of white underwear on it. Her face instantly turned pale, and she frantically opened her mouth to try to explain herself.
But all I could hear was a dry "ah ah ah", and the words got stuck in my throat.
The underpants on the bed were one size larger than hers, and at a glance, they were clearly men's underpants. She was terrified, her entire forehead covered in cold sweat. Where did this man's underpants come from? This is a capital offense, punishable by being thrown into a pig cage.
"Who would have thought that our family's delicate and weak eldest sister, who hides in the backyard every day thinking she can endure loneliness, has actually been secretly meeting with someone all along." Cold Like Spirit's words had barely left her mouth when Cold Like Pupil frantically struggled against their restraints to defend herself. They were going to kill her.
Girl, isn't it supposed to be that by enduring humiliation and swallowing your voice, you can have a vast and free sky? Why do they just refuse to let you go?
"Second sister, why don't you call Father to deal with this lowly person who is disgracing our family?"
"Dad is so busy, he doesn't have time to deal with her. Since she's so shameless, we'll take care of her for Dad. Second sister, don't you think so?"
Her face was as cold as a ghost in the sunlight, but there wasn't a hint of warmth. Her eyes gleamed with a fierce light: "If Elder Sister is found out after doing this thing, she should know shame and die to atone for her sin." Today, the two princes are coming to the manor, so she absolutely cannot let anything unexpected happen, therefore Cold Like Ling must die; only if she dies will she have the opportunity to marry the Second Prince.
No... No... She doesn't want to die. She endured for so many years, but it ended up like this. No, she absolutely won't accept it. She wants to see her father.
She struggled desperately, using the greatest strength she could muster in this life to break free. She didn't care about the blood that had already been pinched out on her face, nor did she care about the green silk that was being pulled through her heart and bones. She only had one thought: to escape.
"Cold as a ghost, her eyes were venomous: 'Escape? You want to escape now? It would have been better if you had left the Prime Minister's mansion when your mother died. Now look at what has happened to you - it serves you right!'"
She's also Dad's child, why did she say she deserved it? Everything that should have belonged to her was given to her, why didn't she let go of her? Cold as Tong shouted loudly, using all her strength to break free from the hands that bound her, a shocking fingernail mark crossed half her face, and more than half of her hair was pulled down.
Several ladies with a fierce look on their faces were stunned, never expecting that the weak big sister would have such great strength when facing death.
"Where can you escape?" Leng Ruxing reacted quickly, grabbing hold of Leng Rutang who was struggling to get free. The few misses pounced on him again.
"Run to your father? You think he'll take care of you, all these years he hasn't even given you a sideways glance. You've done something so shameful, where will he put his face? Big sister, actually death is a relief for you."
Leng Ruxing suddenly stopped, and a cruel smile emerged: "Sister is here to help you." As she spoke, she dragged Leng Rutang's forehead violently against the corner of the table. Leng Rutang was shocked and wanted to scream loudly, but ultimately didn't make a sound.
She fell to the ground with a terrified expression, and eerie blood flowed from her forehead, staining the ground red.
Leng Ruxing stood up, kicked her corpse, and expressionlessly patted his own clothes: "Leng Rutang was discovered to have committed adultery and died of shame. The second madam ordered that she not be allowed a proper burial."
Leng Ruyan, you can't blame me for this, if anyone is to be blamed, it's because you offended the Idle Princess.
