Chapter 33: Universal Love is Not Attacking

Chapter 33: Universal Love is Not Attacking

  Section 1

"Universal love without attachment, esteem for the virtuous, and respect for similarity; frugality in use and burial, not taking pleasure in or being bound by fate, the heavenly will is clear to spirits, great harmony under heaven..."

The bronze statue suddenly spoke, Li Wei was shocked and stood there, the Mo family disciples also followed in praise:

"Universal love without attachment, esteem the virtuous and identify with others, frugal in life and death, not indulging in pleasures or fate, Heaven's will is clear to spirits, great harmony under heaven..."

(Li Wei later understood that Mohism was all about building an ideal world like Utopia)

Universal love: refers to complete universal love, extending paternal love, maternal love, romantic love and friendly love to other strangers.

Anti-aggression: refers to opposition to aggressive war. War is a meaningless destructive action. The ultimate victor is only one emperor, and everyone else is a loser.

Shang Xian: Refers to not distinguishing between the noble and the humble, only talent is promoted, for the virtuous can be used.

In the same vein: refers to being of one mind in serving the people, promoting social benefits and eliminating harm, taking the people as the foundation, and officials as public servants for the people.

Tian Zhi: Refers to mastering natural laws and scientific knowledge.

Ming Gui: Respect for the wisdom and experience of one's predecessors. Upright, bright and just, without resorting to evil or wickedness.

Non-destiny: Refers to mastering one's own destiny through hard work and struggle, rather than believing in ghosts and gods or blaming heaven and others.

Non-music: refers to getting rid of the constraints of ritual music and etiquette, abolishing cumbersome formalities, and not engaging in useless indulgences.

Frugality: Practise economy and oppose extravagance. Work hard and get rich through one's own efforts...

After finishing their eulogy, all the Mohists bowed to Li Wei, also known as their Mohist master. Li Wei didn't know what to do and hastily said:

"Honorable seniors and experts, I am not well-read and can be considered illiterate. How can I lead you? This time, I came to seek your guidance from the Mohist masters."

An old man who led Li Wei replied:

"The Mohist school has not had a giant for thousands of years, the Mohist school has been silent and hidden for thousands of years. A giant can control the order of the giants, and is humble and courteous, calm in the face of change, worthy of the great responsibility of a giant."

"Come on, old man, you're overpraising me, I'm not that capable."

"The secrets of the Mo family have been passed down through generations, only to Mo family disciples. The selection of Mo family disciples is extremely strict, requiring both moral integrity and talent, as well as loyalty, filial piety, benevolence, righteousness, etiquette, and sincerity. You do not meet the conditions in any aspect, and can only become a disciple when you are appointed by the Grandmaster."

  "But I..."

"The great master should no longer argue, all Mohists will follow the great master's orders."

  "Alright then!"

"Good! Too good! Mo Ke Zhao Ze pays his respects to the great master!"

"Inkman Zhang Ren pays his respects to the great master!"

The two elderly people bowed and introduced themselves one after another.

Li Wei also bowed and introduced himself:

"My name is Li Wei, I am from Youzhou."

"Master, please follow me, let's sit down and talk."

Li Wei followed the two old men into a room, the interior of which was extremely simple, with elegant furniture and no unnecessary embellishments. The Mo family didn't bother with formalities, so everyone sat together in harmony, without any distinction between seats. Li Wei shared some of his experiences and then, along with the fortune teller, recounted his prophetic dreams...

  Section 2

The master of the divine woman, Zhen Shi, was a Yin-Yang school of the Mohist school. From his mouth, Li Wei learned that the divine woman's real name was Lu Xiao Cui, and people here often called her Little Cui. Li Wei would often secretly laugh to himself.

Regarding Li Wei's dream prophecy, Zhen Shi's interpretation was that the future is inherently unknown, and Li Wei's abnormal dreams might be due to the power of the Juzi Ling. Zhao Ze continued to say that the bead that unexpectedly entered Li Wei's mouth was the last Mohist master who stole the peerless elixir from the Qin Emperor. This elixir had been placed together with the Juzi Ling for thousands of years, influencing each other.

The Mohists did not believe in any immortal arts or elixirs, but they also could not risk letting the Qin Emperor live forever. The effect of this elixir was unknown. Zhang Ren said that the Juzi Ling was the treasure of the Mohist school, created by the founder Mozi. As for the mysterious technology and divine instruments of the Mohists, they had always been passed down without anyone knowing why the Juzi Ling was so extraordinary.

The five great divine instruments of the Mohists were: Qingtong Canglong, Zhuque Muying, Shiyu Baohu, Qibing Xuanwu, and Lieyan Qilin. Only the Juzi Ling could summon and activate them, which is why they could find Li Wei.

The different assembly methods of the Juzi Ling had different abilities, with 99 combinations that only the master knew. However, due to the sudden disappearance of the previous master, only three combinations were left behind. The combination that Li Wei knew was used by the previous master to store the peerless elixir and had no special ability.

The three combinations passed down in the Mohist school were: summoning and activating the divine instruments; displaying the celestial bodies of the universe; opening the Mohist classics.

The final consultation concluded with three points: Firstly, the Mozi giant has the ability to change the world, and the Giant Command reminds him to save the future world. Secondly, the giant must take on the mission of managing the Mozi people's service. Thirdly, the giant can be ignorant of Mozi technology, but must have the spirit of Mozi.

As the leader of Moism, Li Wei felt a great responsibility, but he still couldn't get used to it. He was willing to follow the ideas and ideals of Moism, but managing all the Mohists made him feel a bit overwhelmed, and he didn't know what to do with himself. Li Wei knew in his heart that he had no talent for management and was afraid that he would lead Moism astray. After getting to know them, Li Wei found that every Mohist was a gentleman and a superior person, so how could he have the nerve to order them around? Should he just go home and forget about it? What about his work at the company? Was he supposed to hide out here?

  Section 3

Li Wei: "Are we going back to the company?"

"Of course you have to go back, Mozi is not gathered here, the form of Mohism's existence in the future may be decided by you."

Li Wei: "What should I do?"

Shennu: "I can only count as half a Mozhuzi, how can I control the actions of Juzi?"

Li Wei frowned and said angrily:

"Now I'm speaking with you as a special consultant of Yu Tong Logistics, can I?"

The goddess smiled slightly and said with humor:

"Can you put down such a big shelf? Hehe, I won't tease you anymore. Actually, being the leader of Mohism and your work life don't conflict, I didn't hear about any extraordinary skills from you when I was in the company, it seems like you hide very well."

Li Wei: "I just don't want to be used as a guinea pig for research, no one asked me about my divine power so I won't say anything, let's just consider it an ordinary martial art. The greater the ability, the greater the responsibility, I don't want to bear the heavy burden of world peace."

"Are you still shouldering it now? Do you want to deceive and perfunctorily treat the Mo family?"

Li Wei: "I promised, I will do it. I just want to have the best of both worlds. The Mo family's thousands of years of heritage can't be destroyed by me."

Shennu: "You know, Mohism's universal love and non-aggression are not different from the current political principles of China. So we still have to go back to the company, it's just that Mohism cannot reappear overnight."

Li Wei: "Then I propose to hold a Mohist conference, and let them manage the Mohists as elders. The Mohist followers will continue their lives as usual, and blend in with the common people."

"Then I'll go find Master and tell him you want to convene a Mo Zu conference."

Li Wei let out a sigh of relief, feeling as if a weight had been lifted off his shoulders.

Li Wei, as the leader of the Mohist school, convened a meeting of all Mohists at the statue of Mozi. Once everyone had arrived, Li Wei declared the meeting open and began to speak:

"Gentlemen of the Mohist school, I convened this meeting today to discuss with you all the future direction of the Mohist school and my own future path. I work in a secret unit in the Huaxia country to save the Huaxia country and protect the Huaxia people, which is my duty. The Huaxia country advocates for equality, mutual assistance, and common development, which has similarities with the Mohist spirit. I do not want to give up this work. What do you all think?"

Zhao Ze: "The Mohist school has always had disciples who serve in government, but only after the disappearance of the great master did the Mohist school enter a state of complete seclusion. Now that the great master has returned, Mohist disciples can also enter officialdom to realize the Mohist ideal, as long as they respect and uphold Mohist thought."

Li Wei: "Ink artists are all humble gentlemen, nowadays whether it's being an official or socializing, none of these things are easy."

Zhang Ren: "The Mohist disciples are not afraid of hardship and danger, nor do they fear sacrifice. To realize the Mohist ideal is a matter of course."

Li Wei: "Is it still necessary for Mozi to be mysterious and reclusive in the future? Please consider this, esteemed gentlemen."

Zun Shi: "Master Mo is too polite, the Mohist disciples have always been low-key, and will not be overbearing in the future. As before, they will continue to hide their abilities. With Master Mo's appearance, the Mohists can do more for the people of the world."

Li Wei: "The Mohist school takes the people as its foundation, with universal love and non-aggression. It will surely be revered by all people. In the past, management relied mainly on senior officials; in the future, it will also rely on senior officials who are willing to work hard."

Zhao Ze: "The elder naturally has the responsibility of an elder, from now on with Master Mo's benevolent governance, Mohism will surely develop. I hope Master Mo will work hard and diligently cultivate. Master, you can speak freely without hesitation."

Li Wei: "I hope the three old men of Mo Jia can share with me the management of Mo Jia affairs. When I am not around, all matters will be decided by the three old men as before. This way, I can return quickly and work for the country and the people."

The three old Moists nodded in unison and continued:

"Please, Master, study with us for another month and together delve into the Mo School's classics, martial arts, and technology."

Li Wei had no choice but to agree and study hard with dedication, becoming a truly qualified Mohist master.
