Chapter Ten: Clan Rescue Operation
Continuous wailing and wild laughter echoed across the wasteland.
Bi Gu's face was heavy as he shook his head, "This has never happened before. These selfish beastmen, even within their own tribes they constantly fight each other, let alone ten tribes uniting together. It's already a surprise that they don't fight among themselves!"
"Can't we gather some manpower from the nearby Mongol tribe?" The hundred-to-one disparity made Xia Zuo furrow his brow.
Bai Gu shook his head heavily "The nearest Uze tribe is two days away from here, and its scale is similar to ours. If we ask for their help and rush back, those filthy half-beasts will have already escaped back to their stinky holes!"
Although the goblins are timid and weak, they are a very resilient species in their caves. Once their inhabited cave is attacked, these goblin people can often burst out with powerful energy that they didn't have before. Moreover, facing thousands of goblins, even twenty more Mank warriors would be useless.
"Then let's catch up first!" Xia Zuo said in a low voice after being lost in thought for a moment, now he can only take it one step at a time. Giving up on his tribesmen was out of the question, but with such a huge gap of 1 to 100, he could only think of a solution after seeing the half-beast army.
Bighu responded in a low voice, and the wailing of two miserable half-beasts nearby stopped. The Mongol warriors tore off their limbs and heads, using the shattered corpses to build a bloody pyramid on the ground, smearing the enemy's blood on their faces to vent their anger.
Since the decision had been made, everyone took a short rest before setting off again in pursuit. With thirteen people against over a thousand half-beasts, the Mank Beastmen were not only unafraid, but their faces were filled with an unbearable excitement. The noble Kampas Beastmen had never feared any battle, no matter if the opponent was a hundred times stronger than them.
A line of beastmen ran at incredible speed across the wasteland, but the half-beastman who was in a hurry to return home with his harvest was not slow either.
Along the way, Xia Zuo and others encountered several groups of orcs who had fallen behind, with more than 100 people in some cases and a dozen or so in others. They were all killed by them in the same way, but they never encountered the main orc army.
When night fell again, a dense fog finally rose on the distant horizon.
He glanced at the empty sky where the moon should be, and Xia Zuo let out a silent sigh. If there was still a full moon, he would have been able to transform into a giant ape, and then the over a thousand half-beasts would naturally not be a problem, but now this idea was clearly futile.
A group of people crawled on the barren land, carefully using giant rocks to sneak in, quietly approaching within 100 meters of the half-beast camp under the cover of night.
Ten massive bonfires blazed fiercely, with forty or fifty goblins dancing around each one, brandishing bone clubs and howling loudly as they leaped about the flames in a strange, incomprehensible dance.
The bonfire's flames danced brightly and dimly, illuminating their ferocious faces while also stretching out their silhouettes, like a horde of demons and ghosts roaming in the dark night.
Xia Sha calculated that the number of people was much less than he had imagined, probably because most of the half-beasts who got food secretly left the team. Now there are only more than 600 half-beasts left in the camp, but even so, the huge difference in numbers still exists.
"Big brother, what to do?" Bi Gu whispered as he crept quietly to Xia Zuo's side. "Once these lowly bandits finish their dance, they'll be eating!"
Bighu said it in a very implicit way, but everyone present understood that the current half-beast people are eating what kind of thing. If they let the brave Kampas beast people watch their tribesmen become food in other people's mouths, then they would rather choose to die bravely in battle.
These celebrating harvest half-beasts, didn't have any guard at all, not even a sentry, if Xia Zuo had one hundred men or even fifty Mang beastmen, they could defeat these weak bandits in one go.
He tightened his cloak around him, and Xia Zuo retreated more cautiously, hiding his body behind a boulder. "What's your good plan?"
As soon as the words were spoken, Xia Sha regretted it, and Bi Gu and Ta La, with their faces full of anger, gave him exactly the same answer he had imagined: "We'll charge up and kill them all!"
As soon as he heard this, Xia Zuo let out a soft sigh and rushed out. Even if they could create chaos, once the half-beasts reacted, they were only a dozen or so people. The half-beasts who had overcome their deep-seated fears were extremely terrifying, especially in such large numbers.
"Boss, look over there!" Just as Xia Zuo sighed, Mantas, who was in charge of surveillance on the giant rock, slid down silently and pointed to a direction of the half-beastman camp in a low voice.
Following Mantas' pointing direction, he saw a different one in the half-beast camp.
Seventy or eighty half-beasts, armed with rusty weapons and clad in tattered leather armor, cautiously surrounded a vacant lot, already considered fully armed elite compared to the rest of the half-beasts draped in animal hides and wielding wooden clubs.
The surrounding empty space was pitch black, but in their eyes, they could still vaguely see the outline of the Mongolian beastman.
"It's a tribesman!" The sturdy Tala exclaimed in a low, surprised voice, and was about to rush up to rescue him, but fortunately Xia Zao had been prepared and pressed him to the ground.
"Big brother, they're our people, we have to go save them!" Tara's face was pressed into the ground by Xia Zuo's overwhelming strength, her face covered in dirt and stones. She lifted her head and looked at Xia Zuo with a wronged expression.
"I know you're a tribesman, so be quiet and listen to my orders!" Xia Zuo's serious tone made Tala tremble with fear, nodding his head repeatedly. The image of Xia Zuo transforming into a giant ape and roaring at the sky was forever etched in his memory.
"Alright, big brother, what do you say? What should we do?" As soon as Bi Gu heard Xia Zuo's tone, his face was filled with surprise. He knew that the war god messenger from the Saiya tribe was a clever beastman.
"Heh heh..." Xia Zuo chuckled in a low voice and then asked Bi Gu, "Bi Gu, can you summon some wild beasts from the wasteland?"
"Of course I can! Don't mention anything else, but summoning those things over, don't even say a few, just a group and I can summon them all!" Biguri said confidently, patting his chest.
"That's great! No need for so many, just a dozen or so will do!" As soon as he heard this, Xia Zuo's eyes suddenly lit up. If it was really like Bi Gu said, then the matter would be settled.
"Biko, Mantas, you two go and bring back a dozen or so wild beasts from that direction to create chaos. Remember not to appear, just create chaos and lead the beasts over!" Xia Zuo said, carefully instructing while pointing to the west side of the half-beastmen's camp.
"Don't worry, boss, we've got it!" Big Brother Bi Gu patted his chest twice to guarantee, then bowed his head and disappeared into the night like a ghost.
"Boss, boss, what about us! What about us!" Tara exclaimed eagerly as soon as she saw that Bigo and the others had a mission, and the rest of the beastmen also stared at Xia Zuo with anticipation.
"We'll wait!" Xia Zuo's faint words instantly turned Tala's excitement into disappointment, and she gazed enviously in the direction that Bi Guo and the others had left before quietly lying down to wait.
More than twenty minutes passed, the half-beastmen's dance-like prayer around the bonfire also gradually came to an end. Tara had asked more than a dozen times, but Xia Zuo, who had been calm on the surface, was also getting anxious at this time. If Bi Guo and the others didn't return before the half-beastmen started their meal, then they would have no choice but to take drastic action.
"Wooo..." The chaotic cries of "Ula Ula" suddenly threw the camp of the Qi Ling into chaos. Several half-beasts from the west side of the camp pointed in terror and shouted at something in the darkness.
A dozen or so pairs of gleaming eyes appeared in the dark surroundings, and the outline of a gigantic wolf, as big as an ox, was vaguely visible in the darkness.
"Roar..." The half-beastman camp suddenly boiled over, but the timid and cowardly half-beastmen, at this moment, in the face of these killers on the wasteland, were not afraid, instead they were delighted. One by one, they excitedly picked up their weapons and let out loud roars.
Even if it were a hundred-strong half-orc tribe in peacetime, they wouldn't dare launch such an attack on the wolf pack, but now the enormous numerical advantage gave them the confidence to slaughter the powerful wolves, and this made the half-orcs' blood boil with excitement.
The camp suddenly became chaotic, with hundreds of half-beasts who had finished their prayers leading the way, fearlessly charging into the darkness with their weapons, apparently preparing to add another dish to tonight's menu. The battle-filled roar of joy shook the wilderness and pierced the sky.
"Boss, we're back!" A faint sound of footsteps echoed from behind, and Bi Gu's two men returned amidst the envious gazes of the crowd.
He nodded slightly and stared at the empty space where the Manticore had been, his voice cold as he said, "Alright, let's go!"
Dozens of half-beasts guarding the Mongolian beastmen, although they did not rush out, all looked at their companions with envy, chasing those ferocious and evil wild wolves.
It's just that their mission to guard the food makes them stand still now, and more importantly, as guards they have priority in choosing food. Although the meat of these Mank beasts is tough and hard to chew, for half-beasts who eat even rotten flesh, it's already a supreme delicacy!
Envy gazed at the chaotic camp to the west, a half-orc guard casually withdrew his gaze, and a pair of massive eyes piled with yellowish eye discharge suddenly filled with astonishment. A human boy's face appeared silently in front of him.
A very delicious human being, he had seen him once before, so one memory was still fresh.
The orc's wooden head didn't even think of anything else, and there wasn't even a warning sound, when suddenly a crisp "Ka Ka" sound rang out beside his ear.
"What's that noise?" The half-beast's head tilted to one side, its neck snapped by Shasō, fell into eternal darkness with this question.
No time to consider why his half-beast saw no alarm, Xia Zuo smiled and moved on to the next target.
It wasn't until Shaya snapped the neck of the fourth sturdy half-orc that this wretched creature finally let out a pained yelp, and the remaining forty or so guards, who had been casting confused glances westward, discovered the disturbance around them.
"Hooooo..." A complex language that only half-beasts could understand, a terrified cry, but in the midst of the exploding pot's camp and the thunderous roar, these warning cries for help from the guards were like stones sinking into the ocean, without even stirring up a small ripple.
Facing the cruel gaze of the surrounding Mongolians, the will to fight in the hearts of the half-beast people suddenly collapsed. They wanted to escape and rush into the large group, but Xia Zuo would not let them leave. In a low growl, the ruthless slaughter unfolded silently behind the large army of half-beasts.
